General Gaming Final Fantasy VII Remake OT - Big Trouble in Little Midgar

Can we just get the title altered since its basically all spoilers being posted at this point? Quoting spoilers is terrible. -

Simply calling it a reboot wouldn't give anything major away and tells consumers right from the get go that its not going to be the same. Also not being quoted for how "faithful" this remake will be would probably go a long way. -

I don't think I would have had the reaction I had to the game's ending had the been upfront about it. Instead it feels like a cheap bait n' switch. -
General Gaming What's your preferred playstyle for games?
Nokt replied to Remarkableriots's topic in The Spawn Point
Going for 100% feels far too daunting for a first play-through for a game. If its a subsequent play-through I must have really enjoyed the game if I want to attempt a 100%, which has only been a handful of games. I typically enjoy doing side quests if it nets me something to a certain degree. It always feels worthwhile if its a well written side quest or adds a bit of world building. Obviously weapons, gear, XP, crafting materials, whatever would be useful to me as I'm playing the game. However, if its just fetch quest after fetch quest or they don't feel valuable as I'm progressing I axe them pretty early on. Competitive games seem to be axing campaigns completely as they continue coming out. Growing up I would always play the Halo campaign prior to jumping into the multiplayer. In more recent years though, I skipped most of the CoD campaigns and even dipped on the Halo 5 campaign after a few hours to try out the multiplayer. -
General Gaming What is your 'Oh yeah, I played that!' game?
Nokt replied to Chris-'s topic in The Spawn Point
I'm assuming this means games I've actually completed as the amount of games I've played a couple hours of is vast. Call of Juarez Gunslinger Dishonored - I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with me, but I don't even remembering finishing this game and its in my completed category on steam. GRIS - its a beautiful game, but very forgettable -

I wasted more phoenix downs on enemies than I did bosses. Although I will say a lot of the boss battles were pretty dynamic, I had fun with them more so than the harder side quest battles. I'd be curious to see how they are on hard mode, but after seeing the ending I refuse to touch this game again. She can just whack people if she gets close enough, but when Aerith is useful, she is REALLY useful. Also Ray of Judgement is amazing for staggering enemies. -

I'm kind of glad I didn't. The game is, for the most part, a faithful recreation until the end. Reliving those moments was great, going in with a bad attitude would have taken what enjoyment I got out of it. That said, I'm probably going to let part 2 come out and see what happens before I bite. -
Control Metro Exodus Star Wars Battlefront 2 Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Ori and the Will of the Wisps The Messenger Doom Eternal - A great game, but a bad sequel. 8.5/10 Resident Evil 3 - A short pleasant experience. 8.5/10 Final Fantasy VII Remake - A fantastic game held back by unneeded story changes. 7.5/10

A great game marred by unneeded/awkward story changes. Its not a remake, its a reboot. -
General Gaming How has the pandemic affected your gaming habit?

My work schedule hasn't changed, but I am working a graveyard shift. I have oodles of time to game now since none of my friends are awake in the wee hours of the morning. -
Sony Why PS1 graphics warped and wobbled so much

You might like this "Coding Secrets" playlist then. He does a lot of the old sonic games, but has a few others mixed in there. -

I guess what spoiler for me wasn't really a spoiler, I just didn't remember that happening. It was just upsetting to not have that experience again because of a youtube title. I'd imagine you'll have to install the game before getting to play as most if not all games do that now. -

Just a fair warning. I tried to youtube some of the OST yesterday and had something spoiled for me because it popped up within the search parameters. So I'd probably just avoid Youtube for anything FFVII. -
General Gaming What are you playing today?

Yeah I'm currently using the Alternate control settings. I honestly have misunderstood what tank controls meant after all of these years and I probably would have never even tried to play the game had I used those controls. Though I have seen a lot of people say that the game is much easier because of the new control scheme. Not that huge of an issue for me, but I guess its worth mentioning. -
General Gaming What were your favourite launch games?
Nokt replied to gamer.tv's topic in The Spawn Point
Switch - Breath of the Wild. Should be pretty obvious. PS4 - None. I had both consoles pre-ordered, but opted for the PS4 because I enjoyed the Killzone series and the Xbox had nothing on launch I wanted. Boy was I let down by that game. Xbox - Halo. I personally didn't get one until Christmas, but a friend had one at launch and we were all over at his house playing Halo every weekend. Almost every console I got growing up was either for my birthday or Christmas, so I never really got anything on launch. -
I still think if you're trying to maximize potential, especially in a game like Call of Duty or Halo, claw grip is the most optimal. Which isn't possible on this controller. You lose the ability to use the face buttons and the analog at the same time unless you use your index finger to aim. You probably could argue that the DS4 is the most optimal because of its ability to dual claw grip, but since devs heavily under utilize that D-pad, the Xbox controller is the happy medium.

The one released a few years ago on PC -
I slept with pretty bad pillows all my life and no problems, but I did upgrade to a pretty nice pillow a couple years back and I can definitely say that it’s a lot better

This is basically how I sleep, but I usually have a pillow under my leg.
