  1. Bungie had a hand in creating the DS4, not sure the extent, but they did have input into its creation which probably helped a lot. Shooters on the DS3 was not good.
  2. It could be muscle memory from primarily using an Xbox controller for the past 19 years, but it feels extremely unnatural to reach down to hit buttons. Not to mention the fact that it completely ruins claw grips unless you used your index finger for the analog stick.
  3. I've been playing Resident Evil remake. I initially hated playing it, the awkward controls, the lack of aiming (or the absurd amount of autoaim). It grew on me over time though. As someone who has never played much of the RE franchise I really started to appreciate what it brings to the table over RE2make or RE3make. It has a much better atmosphere that makes me walk around every corner and pop my gun up because I'm afraid of what might be there. I do appreciate how much puzzles are focused on in this game, but at times a few of them seem a bit absurd in their solutions and the amount of backtracking, oh lord, the amount of backtracking I've done is insane. All in all its been a fun trip though should have it finished by the time FFVII comes out. Probably start playing RE4 when free time pops up as I'm enjoying this series a lot right now.
  4. Correct I don't blame people for enjoying him more, its just surprising to me that people really enjoyed it. My play style is pretty much clear the room so I don't have to deal with them again. So I never encountered those issues. I did encounter those issues with Nemesis though because I couldn't clear the streets with him chasing me or didn't feel like it was worth the effort. The easiest way to cheese X is either just literally circle around in the map and start walking as soon as you get a room ahead of him or just hit the nearest safe room. That's my problem though Nemesis was usually just pushing me where I was suppose to be going and X was doing the opposite and just dragging on the inevitable.
  5. Do people really enjoy the tyrant as a mechanic? I much prefer Nemesis' high tension short bursts vs tyrants low tension long burst. I felt like I actually had to make decisions about what I was going to do quickly and it wasn't shoehorning me into a specific play style for majority of game. The tyrant just feels like an annoyance that you just spend time figuring out how to cheese so that you can remain in areas where you want/need to be. As soon as you give the Nemesis that same consistency you turn him into the same thing even with an expanded tool kit. It might bring a heightened tension for a short time, but he will gradually just be as much of an annoyance and bring little tension.
  6. Movie: Kakurenbo - You might have seen this if you watched it on Adult Swim on Halloween in 2005. Other than that its pretty obscure. Book: Transall Saga - I'm not a huge reader, but I do enjoy the occasional book. This was really the only thing I could think off the top of my head that might not have been read by other members. It was one of the first books that I read as a kid that really got me into reading. Music: Silence - Dead Presidents - Probably one of my favorite metalcore albums. I could have picked some really obscure EDM music, but thats not fun.
  7. I didn't even have most of the enemies chase me on the last boss. I stayed on the top of the arena and would have maybe one or 2 guys chase me. Sword them, then just lay into the boss until I was out of ammo, jump down grab sword ammo, chainsaw someone and then go right back up top. It wasn't hard and it wasn't fun.
  8. Resistance series on the PS3 was a fun series. Definitely doesn't ever really get talked about
  9. It took Catherine 6 years to reach 1 million sold copies. I’ll have to double check but it sold something like 160k copies it’s first week. It was a success for Altus, but it definitely wasn’t big at first.
  10. Catherine - I've never really played a dating sim or visual novels or anything like that. Just not my type of games, but I found Catherine to be a lot of fun. The puzzles were a lot of fun and kept a good tension (especially when the baby is chasing you). The morality options between Catherine and Katherine were interesting to me and kept me invested. The OST has some jams too, which is never a bad thing. I dunno how it ranks in the world of Sims, but Catherine was just enough to keep me interested while not going overboard. Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena - I feel like Chronicles of Riddick has a pretty good cult following and that applies to Escape from Butcher Bay too. Dark Athena probably doesn't add anything fantastic outside of the upgraded Escape from Butcher Bay. Just seems like the game never hit mainstream success, despite being a really fun game. Naruto: Rise of a Ninja & Broken Bond - As with Catherine, I'm not huge into A: fighting games and B: Naruto. However this is such an interesting game, it has this weird mesh between a fighting game and a 3D platformer with some RPG sprinkled in. Any combat within the game is a pretty standard fighting game. There is some RPG elements within fighting to help you get stronger to progress through the story. Anything outside of combat is a 3D platformer. Like you can do some ninja races or ramen deliveries, both of which I think are timed. As well as collectibles scattered around Konoha. Konoha is also a pretty big map as well as some light exploration in the other areas you go to on missions, but they aren't nearly as big if I remember.
  11. Had a friend growing up who's mom bought a Prince DVD from a concert. She legit had that thing on repeat for YEARS. There was never a time that I went to his house and it wasn't playing. Even if I slept over, it would play during the night too. Can't say I was ever really fond of Prince outside of a few songs, but good memories.
  12. I just started XIII the other day actually. Kind of weird that it looks better on the One X vs PC, but Square gonna Square. Apparently Microsoft asked for HD models/textures from SE and they gave them to them. I think XIII gets overlooked a lot because of its linearity, but I think its got an interesting combat system. The story is kind of whack in the beginning with little to no explanation on whats going on, not sure if its gets any better. I don't remember it being horrible from what little I remember the first time I played the game though.
  13. I've been skeptical about how this game is going to turn out. I still have it pre-ordered that isn't arriving until the 14th. This trailer convinced me to buy digital though so that I can play from the get go.
  14. As someone who plays a lot of FPS titles, I'm not really put off by 6 hours campaigns. However, Howlongtobeat has the original Resident Evil 3 rated at 6-1/2 hours for the main story and 8 hours with some extras. Obviously YMMV, but the remake is pretty close to the original at least in a sense of how long the game is.
  15. Probably is this company has absolutely 0 credibility right now. I'm hoping for the best because I would love a 1440p/240hz monitor, but I'd highly suggest waiting for initial review even if the cost is slightly higher after launch.
  16. Black Mesa - Half Life Remake Doom 64 - Never played it before, but I'm actually having a good time with it Control - Not FPS, but a really good game nonetheless.
  17. I’m a little upset no one mentioned Dark. By far my favorite series on Netflix
  18. Its pretty slim pickins right now. Rtings most recommended monitor isn't available or its runner up. I typed in 1440p/144hz on amazon, looked up monitors on pcpartpicker too and most of them are OOS. LG 27GL850 $500 - 1440p 144hz nano IPS 1ms Freesync/Gsync compatible. I currently use this monitor. The stand can be finicky sometimes, but other than that no issues BH is a reputable vendor, I buy a bunch of my camera stuff through them. Its back-ordered though by about a month. Some stuff I found in stock, but have no idea about them Acer XB271HU Acer VG271UP Stuff coming soonish Asus XG279Q - May 6th Eve Spectrum - Q3 2020 QHD144/240hz or 4K/144hz. No idea how good this is going to be, its pretty new to the scene. I have an old Asus MG279Q that I could sell if you're at all interested.
  19. Yeah I don't really get why people compare Darksiders to Zelda all that much. They feel nothing alike to me. Okami is probably a better comparison, but I honestly didn't play all that much of it. Hob could probably draw some comparisons to 3D Zeldas quite a bit, but I find the game kind of a bore. EDIT: I felt I should note that I got into the Genshin Impact beta on iOS. Not exactly my choice gaming platform, but I decided to give it a whirl. It takes a lot of nuances from BotW like it’s stamina system. Being used for climbing, swimming, running etc. Other things like burning grass around you when you fight a fire enemy or using fire arrows. The gameplay though is more like Nier Automata than it is BotW. Pretty much hack n’ slash with an evade button, sprinkle in some magic. There is multiple characters, you unlock the second one in the first 30 minutes. They all have different equipment. Your starting character uses a sword with magic, the second is an archer. The story is, well, pretty anime. A unknown “god” that kidnaps your sibling (depending on which gender you choose) and you’re on a quest to get them back. All of the names sounds like the local LARPing group near me named everything in the game so... yeah. It’s pretty fun on iOS, pretty impressed that they included graphical options for the mobile version. It looks pretty good as well. I’d really like to test it with a controller though.
  20. It’s currently $17 on GMG for PC. It says in the YouTube description of the video that it’s being “rebuilt”. Still not much clearer. I lean towards remaster, but who knows.
  21. Its being co-developed by Toylogic who have helped with DQ11 on the 3DS, Super Smash Bros Brawl, The Evil Within, and Kid Icarus Uprising, among some other titles. Considering this didn't get an English teaser trailer as well I doubt it will see a western release, but using google translate it says its a mobile game.
  22. This is kind of where I'm at. I'm pretty frustrated that I can't play it and I really don't want to go spend $400-$500 dollars on a single game that I'll blow through in a couple hours. If VR really is the future or is at least going to be a bigger part of gaming, Valve is probably one of the best people that you can have in your corner. In the meantime I'll either just watch someone play it on twitch or hopefully play it in the near future where I can buy a VR headset hopefully at a less premium cost.
  23. I'm still working my normal shifts, so not a lot has changed for me. I do cook a lot more, being nightshift everything in Utah closes early and opens late including fast food so I'm pretty much limited to cooking at home.
  24. Yep. I'm rather happy about the port as I didn't play the original on Wii or 3DS. Though I hated 2, so maybe I won't even like it.
  25. The Flashbulb - Our Simulacra - 4/10 Man I use to be such a huge Benn Jordan fan. No album he put out could disappoint and to be fair I think around the time that I was introduced to his music was his greatest stretch of music. 07's release with Sountrack to a Vacant Life up until 12' with Hardscrabble. I've been really hoping that something would absolutely blow me away like the first time I heard "Undiscovered Colors". Thats not to say that his new stuff isn't good, Piety of Ashes feels just like one of the albums released between those years. Dormant (Movement 1-7) is a great album to sit and relax to. They just didn't have the same impact on me when they came out, but I grew to appreciate them. Our Simulacra though, is probably the first album where I've actually felt let down. The album just doesn't dig as deep as his older stuff and feels like he was disinterested in even making it. Lyrically Benn has never been amazing, his music doesn't even really call for vocals most of the time and when its been implemented its one of his standout song, Like "I Saw the Sky" off Hardscrabble, its fit really well. The albums opening track "Monthly Colors" is just a voice spouting out months with pretty a rather uneventful song. The actual song "Your Simulacra" shares the same problem with a repeating voice for 4 minutes, at least the song is much more varied and interesting though. Fbox is just a repetitive 1.5 second loop deformed over and over again. He does get pretty interesting with it, but I can only sit through it for a minute before it gets old. Drama Function and Portal are the highlights of the album for me. The have that classic touch with strings and pianos playing over a relaxed glitch/breakcore beat. You seem to find a few of there songs littered throughout his discography and are some of my favorite songs that I can continue to go back and listen to again and again. Unfortunately these two songs alone can't hold up the rest of the album that ranges between uninteresting and annoying.
