  1. I don’t remember if I said it in this thread or elsewhere, but I don’t really view masturbation as a sexual thing. I don’t really even enjoy it. It’s just maintenance. Twice a week or so I just get it done as fast as possible and move on with my life.
  2. What a teaser! It’s wild: I was just talking about the MCU last night with family, and saying how I’m mostly watching this stuff out of habit and to keep up with the cultural conversation. But this is my most anticipated movie for the rest of the year. After the enormous success of the first one (including a Best Picture nomination!), I have to believe Coogler got the best possible deal when it comes to working in the Marvel machine.
  3. RIGHT? I was reading some article about the series afterwards, and was stunned to learn that the entire episode (once they get into the restaurant) was a single take. Usually long takes like that are really obvious and flashy, but here it felt so natural. One of the best things I've seen in a long time.
  4. The music started playing in my head as soon as I saw it.
  5. Being able to attach a brand name to it is probably the only reason it got made with any sort of real budget, which is unfortunate. But until I hear from the screenwriters that they rolled a D20 every time the characters took an action and those rolls determined the course of the script, I will not accept this as a real D&D movie.
  6. Looking at games I actually bought in the last year or two, not Game Pass/Giveaways/Humble Bundles: Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters (at least 3+4) Inscryption Triangle Strategy Those are my priorities.
  7. The clear path to happiness: Never masturbate Never have sex before marriage After you’re married, never use birth control Have more kids than you can manage Watch as it puts a strain on your marriage (that you really only started because you wanted to have sex while staying “pure”)but… Never get divorced It’s wild how many of my old Catholic school friends are going through this now.
  8. I spent a while yesterday bouncing around between a bunch of stuff, sampling Game Pass games, but nothing really stuck. Then I started a new character in Elden Ring on a whim and played for like 4 hours straight.
  9. This is dumb, but I’m going to have a hard time taking this show seriously when like 90% of the main cast has that ridiculous white hair, especially The Doctor.
  10. I gotta say, when I heard that the makers of Game Night were making a D&D movie, I was expecting something completely different. I mean, basically just make that movie again, but swap out board games for tabletop RPGs. To me, that’s the only way a “Dungeons and Dragon movie” makes sense. Do the big budget version of the Community episodes. This just looks like generic fantasy adventure #578.
  11. I’ll say this much: similarly to those movies, I don’t know how the fuck to talk about it without spoiling everything! It’s a lot of fun. There is some social commentary in there, but it definitely takes a backseat to spectacle. And in a lot of ways it’s his most “straightforward” movie yet, but there’s still some weird, confusing shit in there. Like, there were a couple of scenes that I’m only now starting to realize why they were in that at all, over an hour after leaving the theater. But we could just chalk that up to me being kinda dumb. :P
  12. I know the idea of “superhero fatigue” gets waved away every time one of these things has a good opening weekend. But seriously, this is the 12th(?) slice of MCU content in a year and a half. Just speaking anecdotally from an admittedly small sample size, the people in my life who love the MCU the most still watch pretty much everything, but there’s not a lot of enthusiasm left for any of it. No Way Home really popped, but other than that, nothing has really moved the needle. I do wonder how much they’re going to try to build up to another Endgame style thing and what the timeline on that is gonna be. If they’re going to keep pumping out movies and TV series at this pace, it’s not going to take long before they simply have far too many plates to spin.
  13. I’m just negging them, and sometimes it works in my favor. Last month I was ready to cancel HBO Max for a while, but they offered me 3 months at half price if I didn’t unsubscribe.
  14. Man, I’ve been in a reading funk lately, and I might just end up reading this trilogy again. It’s so good.
  15. I’m gonna cancel mine, but I’ll be back in a few months. That’s how I treat all these services.
  16. Cabaret - a perfect example of me having no idea what a classic movie is actually about. I mostly knew it as “that musical that upset The Godfather for some key Oscars (Director and supporting actor)”. Also, my only real context for Liza Minnelli for a long time was Arrested Development, so it’s nice to see her in her prime and experience her almost overwhelming star power. All That Jazz - What a fascinating object. I’ve never seen anything like it.
  17. Yeah, I don’t want to scare you off it completely, but when you watch it you might want to be prepared. The main character is dealing with and that is a major part of the entire season.
  18. It’s an excellent show, but it’s, uh, emotionally challenging. I know you’re not in a great place right now, and this show might hit hit some buttons you don’t want pushed.
  19. Bullshit Heardle today. The first second is silence! #Heardle #145 🔊⬛🟩⬜⬜⬜⬜ https://spotify.com/heardle
  20. I rewatched Gravity last night. Seeing it in IMAX 3D was an all-time great theater experience. I think it still holds pretty well at home, but it could just be that it was constantly making me remember that first time seeing it.
