  1. That reminds me: the best taco is Choco
  2. So I’m guessing ground beef with a seasoning packet doesn’t cut it was “real”, huh? In that case, I’ll have to do some research and get back to you.
  3. He is so good in Kim’s Convenience. That’s perfect. And Ken Leung! Always like to see him pop up in something.
  4. I just saw an ad for Kuerig’s latest coffee maker that scans your pod to find out what variety it is, then brews it “optimally” according to the manufacturer’s settings. Getting optimal coffee from a Kuerig is an oxymoron. Oh cool, you can use your phone to brew your coffee? What good is that if you don’t have a robot butler to bring it to you?
  5. Team up to solve the mystery/unmask the villain. Or get high in a van with a talking dog. With everything else going on in this movie, it wouldn’t surprise me if there was a talking dog. Maybe it’s better in context (unlikely).
  6. This might be a little counterintuitive, but I think Amazon coming out and saying they’re committing to at least three seasons might help get people on board. Especially with a story of this scale, people might be more forgiving of an uneven start if they know the show will have time to build and resolve.
  7. I’ve been looking forward to it for a a while. Jane Campion is a blind spot for me. I’ve only seen her tv miniseries Top of the Lake, which is great.
  8. So I can either improve my own skills, or find people who are worse and play with them? Interesting. Unrelated, we should get some D1P game nights going. It's been a while.
  9. Watched Red Notice… but I’m having a hard time coming up with anything to say about it. I watched it less than 24 hours ago and it’s already slipping from my mind. It made me really appreciate other globe-trotting action movies that actually travel. I get that COVID ruined their travel plans, but when I read that the whole movie was shot in Atlanta, I wasn’t the least bit surprised.
  10. Got one of those fancy shower heads with a hose and multiple spray modes, so I can blast right in there with a massaging pulse.
  11. I lost my cell phone once. It was my first one, I was still in high school. I tore apart the house, my car, my friend’s houses, work, everywhere I could possibly think. After a few weeks I gave up and bought a new phone (which is tough when you’re working part time at $7.50 an hour or whatever). I eventually found it months later in the living room couch. That was one of the first places I had looked. Moved it away from the wall, took off all the cushions, basically dismantled the whole thing. But it was in this tiny weird pocket of fabric that honestly felt like it was custom built to hide drugs or something. It was impossible to see, but my phone had slipped in there perfectly. At that point, I just had to laugh.
  12. I’m looking for a career change, but I’ve only had this “career” for two years. I have no idea what I actually want to do or what would be a good fit, but I definitely don’t see myself moving up where I’m at now.
  13. Yeah, I’m juggling too many games as it is, and I’ve got plenty of other RPGs I either haven’t started or barely played, but I’m getting the itch to buy this and start it this weekend.
  14. It’s been forever since I’ve seen Road House. I honestly don’t know if I’ve even seen it all, or just parts of it on cable. But I would love to see a movie with Gyllenaal as a bouncer, especially if he brought some intense Nightcrawler energy and got real weird with it.
  15. Any zoo is a petting zoo if you’re brave enough.
  16. Yeah, that’s the tricky part. Just like with the actual library, sometimes you’ve gotta be patient. It’s understandable with new, in-demand books, but sometimes I’ll try to get some smaller book from 20 years ago, and there’s 5 holds on the one “copy” available. But it’s free, and sadly I’m too cheap to spend much money on books. Partly because there are these free options, and partly because I have terrible reading habits and will often abandon a book 5 chapters in, even if I was enjoying it.
  17. What names are people using? There are a lot of great/dumb options, but for whatever reason I really get a kick out of being called Homeslice.
  18. Yep. There is an app called Libby (overdrive.com is the website) that lets you borrow ebooks and send them to your Kindle devices. You just need a library card to sign up. There is also Kanopy.com that’s a good little streaming source for indie, foreign films and documentaries. Hoopla is another service that offers ebooks, audiobooks, comics, and movies. Their collection isn’t always the most exciting, but sometimes you can find some gems.
  19. I mostly use my local library for DVDs (I know, I know, I’m an animal) and books for my Kindle via Libby.
