  1. I mostly avoid super hard stuff these days but I do have Hollow Knight and Celeste in the queue. There were levels in the DKC Returns games that as far as dying over and over again is concerned were harder than original DKC games but with how easy it is to get lives it wasn't too frustrating.
  2. Regarding the Iconians, apparently they were listed on a couple screens in season 1: https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Iconian While in TNG the Iconians were supposed to have been wiped out 200,000 years ago, the fact that that dying sphere had memories going back at least a 100,000 years will probably still be relevant.
  3. Goku can teleport so all he has to do is teleport while touching Superman to a location where there is kryptonite and/or a non-yellow sun. Or he could just destroy the sun, kill Super man and either teleport to safety or use the dragon balls to restore the sun. Of course if the fight happened in the Dragon Ball universe, Superman would kill Goku first and then Goku would come back and beat Superman and then they'd team up against the next villain.
  4. My father brought me back some Pusser's Blue Label Rum from the States and I went to open it and the cork disintegrated. He used a wine cork remover to get most of the cork out and then I fished out most the bits that fell in but there's still at least one piece in the bottle. It seems fine but I can't tell if the flavor is just the rum or a bit of rotten cork. I put some cling wrap with an elastic band to seal the bottle but I'll probably be finishing the bottle quickly.
  5. When you do a charcoal barbecue you don't use store-bought briquettes, you just throw the leftover meat from your last barbecue in.
  6. One surprise is that Pandemic is one of the 2 games on the list with a Hard difficulty rating (the - suggests that it's the harder of the 2) but it has the lowest recommended age (8+, though according to Amazon, the manufacturer recommends 13-15).
  7. It would have to be less than -43C without windchill since that local record was set long after I moved away from Labrador but it may have been as low as -60C with windchill when I was there. Sledding in cold weather can have interesting results. As a kid, a friend had a disc of ice on his cheek after we got in from sledding. Once after sledding with a beard, I had fangs of ice form on my mustache.
  8. The mobile version looks like it's based on the Super Famicom version (there's a fan translation if you want to play the SFC version) so if the problem was graphics, sound, and/or progression (I think the SFC version doubles EXP) you can have a more enjoyable experience if you really want to play it. The main issues I've had with old games tend to be with resolution and how that affects what you can see. In old RTS games for example, you're so zoomed in with the low resolution that it's hard to see what's going on and you have to scroll like crazy.
  9. Divinity: Original Sin gave me an appreciation for turn based RPGs where movement costs action points. I never had an issue with the kind of turns most JRPGs used where you just picked a single command per character each round but then I tried Shining Force. After barely making it through a single battle and seeing the pathetic amount of cash I got compared to the cost of the inn, I swore off everything turn based (with the exception of DQ/FF style turn based JRPGs). Eventually I did play the GoG version of the original Fallout and with a guide for stats & weapons (ranged weapons with the right stats to make them effective makes the combat feel more immediate rather than having to waste a turn or two getting close before you can do serious damage), it was a positive experience. I had initially avoided DOS and I got it from a contest. I didn't think I'd end up liking it more than more real time stuff like the Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale but I did. While it hasn't made me go searching for other turn based games, it has made me more open to turn based and I wouldn't want to play DOS/DOS2 in real time.
  10. I tend to wait for a sale so I don't worry too much about when games are releasing. My list tends to be a short list of games to play next picked up in the last sale. Metroid Prime 4 has the potential to be the game that convinces me to get a Switch. I plan to get Ori and the Will of the Wisp and the Grandia remaster. I'm waiting and seeing for Bloodstained, Rage 2 and FFVII remake.
  11. It started at 8:00 Eastern on Space in Canada. It ran past 9 so I guess I'll be watching the recording of The Orville another day.
  12. If you suspect the power button, check the cables from the case to the motherboard and make sure everything is plugged all the way in on the motherboard (should be in the bottom right corner) maybe something came loose during shipping. You could try checking the individual wires to make sure none are on the wrong pins (doubt it's this since it would have been revealed in testing but check it just in case) and you can try connecting the reset button to the power button pins and try turning it on with the reset button.
  13. More mass in the same volume will make it both denser and heavier.
  14. Wavebirds don't have a motor for force feedback like wired GameCube controllers and the removal of the motor gives a net reduction in weight despite the addition of batteries. The NES controller didn't have a motor so adding a battery makes it heavier. The weight of the wireless receiver should be negligible but since it's Nintendo they may have done something silly like make it unnecessarily heavy. I think a friend had one of those infrared wireless NES controllers back in the day and I may have tried it.
  15. https://www.gofundme.com/des-souvenirs-julie-et-sa-famille My brother in law's sister has cancer. She had breast cancer, followed by a brain tumor but now it's metastasized and is stage 4. The family wants to go on a Disney vacation while she is still able to make happy memories for her two boys (age 10 and 13). That's the gist of the French text. It's in Canadian dollars. Thanks to anyone who chooses to donate.
  16. I opened up the box for Civ 4 and there is no cd key. Apparently it didn't come with one back in the day. @HardAct do you still have AoE 3? I checked and it does have a key inside so I could give it to you.
  17. I finished Katamari Damacy REROLL but I'm going for 100% item completion. I finished Mega Man 9, 10 & 11 in the last few days of 2018 so I might go back and play them again. I was waiting for the 1TB SSD I ordered to arrive before installing Dragon Quest XI so other than completionist stuff and replays that'll probably be the next game I play.
  18. My brother in law gave me physical copies of some old games that a friend of his gave him. Call of Duty War Chest (COD 1 + expansion & COD 2) and Civilization IV Gold. I have no interest in COD and just got Civ IV during Black Friday. The keys should be good for redeeming for digital copies. The box for COD wasn't sealed but the jewel case inside was sealed (there were 2 other discs in paper sleeves). He also gave me Age of Empires III Gold but I'm probably going to keep it since I might play it.
  19. DQ XI is 40% off vs the 30% of earlier sales.
  20. I was able to get through 3 discovery queues without any issues (usually have issues on later days of the sale even when trying later in the day) but only made it through 3 votes before it stopped working. It's working now. I haven't played a single game among those available to vote for.
  21. Looks like the delayed discounts thing once again. Nothing on my wishlist shows a discount yet.
  22. I'll probably get Dragon Quest XI, Mega Man 11 and Katamari Damacy REROLL.
  23. The other option for GameCube component cables was to import which is what I did since I got them so late and Nintendo wasn't selling them anymore in North America.
