Pig Destroyer- Head Cage

PD could have went back to the Prowler In The Yard sound and that would have made me and many others very happy. But PD never stays in the same genre very long before moving on and trying something different. This album does have some more straight Grind tracks but with the introduction of a bassist it opens up for them a new path.PD's albums have always felt like a 50 man party in a 5ft closet space. Head Cage feels like an album that PD was given space to open up.

9/10

KK just fucking kills it on vocals

Baroness - Blue Record (2009) - 9/10

For some reason I decided to start listening to Baroness even though I'd never really listened to them before. I've gone through their entire discography. Earlier stuff is better obviously, but the clear standout in their collection is Blue Record. After the intro track it goes right into "The Sweetest Curse" which reminds me of early Mastodon (both from Georgia so yeah) but they infuse a ton of melody into this sludgy soup of a song and it's delicious. I also really like the tracks "A Horse Called Golgotha" and "War, Wisdom, and Rhyme".

My only complaint about the album is that they don't linger long enough on some of the brilliant moments. My favorite part of this whole album is the one-two punch of "Blackpowder Orchard" and "The Gnashing"; starting with a charming twangy southern instrumental that only lasts a minute when I would have loved to hear that idea develop some more. It is followed by a happy-heavy headbanger that has a brief but brilliant vocal section towards the end. I need more of that shit man.

Actually I did the same thing a couple months ago. I don't know if their old stuff is "obviously" better after going through the discography. I mean Purple Album is really good.

New stuff still sounds great but it's very verse chorus verse chorus as opposed to their early material which is much more thought out and less formulaic.

Also their new guitar player is hot AF.

Ive been revisting one of my favorite hardcore/metalcore bands from Flordia - Morning Again. I broke out their compilation album called Hand of the Martyr which includes both Hand of Hope LP and Martyr EP.

I never got to see them live back in the day. I went to see them once and they had to cancel. A band from NJ called "For the Love Of" filled in for them and they were fucking amazing. One of my favorite metalcore bands.

They recently reformed to record some new music and will be touring...and I am not fucking missing them this time.

This is one of my favorite albums of all time and listened to it for approximately the 180,000th time this morning all the way through. Innovative, intelligent and timeless.

After listening to that , I now regret teaching you how to embed videos

Simulation Theory - Muse.  8/10 - I’m also fully aware that won’t be most people’s opinion.

I picked up the deluxe CD today but haven't had a chance to check it out yet. That's on the agenda for tomorrow. I've loved all of the singles released so far!:dancing:

I've been listening to Muse's Simulation Theory pretty much nonstop for the last few days and I love it. I really enjoy the experiments with their sound. It still sounds like Muse, but with enhanced with synthesizers. :p  9/10

I already bought tickets to see them in Prague in May, 2019. :dancing:
