A group of people at 2K got paid to create art assets, music, and physics for a pachinko, a slot machine, and a roulette wheel for their latest NBA basketball game. Like, just animating some random shit randomly popping up on the screen wasn't enough. I want realistic physics in pachinko for my basketball game. Quote
Paperclyp Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 My favorite sport, with incredible gameplay and visuals, held hostage by capitalism. I've completed disengaged with the series. Quote
DarkStar189 Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 What is all this basketball shit doing in my gambling simulator? Quote
JPDunks4 Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 EA watching and asking “Why are we the most hated?” Seems 2k largely gets a pass when they’ve had pay to win mechanics in 2k for years. Quote
Brian Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 Video has been taken down and the “influencers” that appeared in the video are getting a ton of shit edit: Quote

XxEvil AshxX Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 I just watched a long ass rant by Angry Joe over this exact trailer. Bravo to 2K for going all-in on the exact thing that is the hot topic at the moment. I would almost think it was intentionally obtuse, but we all know that would require some form of self-awareness. Under the new ESRB rules, it should be a T rating. Do I expect ESRB to enforce those rules? lol no if this video doesn’t drive home the gambling relationship to these mechanics, nothing will. Quote
Paperclyp Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 I like how the influencers are stupid enough to also think it was a good idea to be in this. Quote

ALIEN-gunner Posted September 1, 2019 Posted September 1, 2019 When has the NBA 2K series not had the card collecting and mini game features? As far as I can remember this stuff has been in the series for years. The only thing you can purchase with real money are extra card packs, though you can earn currency in game as well. The game doesn't allow you to purchase currency for the casino games like the youtubers are making it seem. Quote

But even if you couldn't, that's only part of the point. Quote
JPDunks4 Posted September 1, 2019 Posted September 1, 2019 You could always buy their virtual currency to spend on your My Player upgrades right? It was said you had to basically spend money to level them up to the pointof being competitive online, so it was basically Pay 2 Win. Quote
Mercury33 Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 I believe you can only use points purchased with real money to level your player to a certain point. Like 87/88 overall. After that you have an endless grind to get them any higher. Quote

Quote Almost the entire NBA 2K experience is still built around VC. If you want to buy new shoes, you need VC. If you want to unlock animations—including even the most basic dunk, otherwise you’re stuck doing lay-ups—you need VC. You spend VC to buy packs of virtual cards, the only way you can flesh out your team in the hugely popular MyTeam multiplayer. You even use VC to increase your player’s stats in MyCareer, the series’ flagship singleplayer story mode. Quote
