It's fucking brutal already. I spent almost the entire weekend just playing it and my head is apparently still in full Elden mode. I can't focus on shit. Worse, I'm supposed to go to...ew..."date night" tonight which will lead to ...sex. Bitch I could be playing Elden Ring. I need to do a George Costanza and somehow sneak a mini-tv into bed with headphones.

Called off work to play lol. I just beat Margit (sp) with help of another person. Felt great to beat him! How do you increase your health flasks? At a site of grace it says I don't have a golden seed. Where do I get one?

I cropped this intentionally to make it hard to tell what's going on, but I think if you know you know. Bleed seems to deal percentage damage, so this blockade took several of them, as you can see. I think I did like 100k damage total, would've taken like a solid hour if not for bleed, but with bleed, only took about 1-2 minutes!

you find them in the world usually at a golden tree when you explore.

I'm not joking when I say I think this is my favorite game of all time. It is by far the most unique and fun gaming experience I've ever had.

You find them at these little Golden trees. Also some are given at story beats. Like after the girl leaves stormhill shack, she leaves one for you. Just teleporr there, she should be gone if you beat Margit. Theres one tree right beside the road on the way from the shack, between it and the gatefront ruins. Its a bright, glowing little tree

Also try to find church ruins in the world. I've found a few called Church Of Marika (sp?), these usually have a one of those items required to upgrade your flask in front of a huge statue of her. 

 

Edit: The map is actually very useful if you learn to read it a bit. Zoom in close if you picked up your map fragment and just study the map for a bit. You can easily spot ruins by the way they're drawn, elevations and so on. Ruins always have SOMETHING good, whether it'll turn out to be a Church Of Marika or a little dungeon space with an item chest or a vendor.

Yeah, this is a good tip. Did you get the flask of wondrous physik? They are cool and give you a good buff.

Yep. Just explored and found a yellow tree. I now have 6 healing flasks.

I got that one near storming shack when I first played and sold it like an idiot because I had no idea what it was. I no longer sell anything except armor. I just spoke to the girl in the shack and she gave me a jellyfish...

got Margit last last night and ready to venture into the castle.  the fight wasnt to bad but i think im slightly over leveled as i spent most of my time exploring and doing mini dungeons and world stuff in southern limgrave and stuff.

Is there an easy way to know where bosses are? I forget where all of them are.

You mean bosses you’ve already discovered but didn’t kill? Use the markers on your map. I put down little skulls every place there’s a boss I find.

Same, I use markers like crazy. Treasure chests for dungeon entrances and possible locations like that, the diamond for vendors, the branch thingie for NPCs, skulls for bosses and so on.

That's where the new structure really comes in for new players I think. There is no wrong way to play. If bosses are a bitch, you go do one of the other million things and make yourself stronger by beating other enemies. Either way, you made it happen and worked at leveling, it's a good way to dictate your own difficulty beyond From's boss design difficulty.

Yeah, I have about six (I think?) different items to mix in so far, some really good shit. I think right now I have 50% of health and added stamina regen.

Ya, I have health/str on my Vagabond and Health/stamina on my Astrologer since I haven't found one for Int.

My Vagabond is level 46, and my Astrologer is 30. I just want to do everything, all over the place.

 

What platform are you on?

 

Also, why the hell isn't there a photo mode?

I'm playing the PS4 version on PS5. It runs flawlessly at 60fps and, to me, doesn't look different and I tried the PS5 version for an hour first.

Actually they aren't. If you go back there is a dude sitting in a chair who tells you to jump off. If you didn't jump off you missed it. Also there are a bunch of multiplayer messages telling you to jump off. And you could jump or roll down the side but yeah, there's your tutorial area.

That was actually my first instinct as well. Especially considering that fall would have murdered you brutally with fall damage in every previous game!

I don't think that but I also don't think it's From being bad at anything which is really what I don't agree with. I think it's From sign-posting the tutorial area perfectly well without forcing repeat players to do a tutorial over and over like in the other games. They made that room dark as hell on purpose so your eyes would immediately dart to ghost dude and that message.

It's nice having the MP back. I missed the phantoms and such in DS3. I gotta see how I can find some competitive MP. I invaded someone but feel dirty doing that.
