It appears that some members of the convoy attempted to burn down an apartment building last night, including taping shut the front door to prevent people from escaping. Luckily a bystander saw the fire, got inside, and managed to out it out:

Such peaceful people. Why isn't GRR GRR TRUEDOEEE GRRRRRRR meeting with these fine people.

YOU ARE A GENIUS

Just put me in charge of all Canadian strategic defense, offense, and pre-emptive strikes, papá will lead you to The First Canadian Empire.

First we will merge with Mexico and apply political pressure to The United States until they succumb to our Great Maple Tacos.

They should have been repeatedly ticketing them from the beginning.

At this point I would intentionally flatten their tires and only offer a bus ride to a Greyhound station and one warm meal if they get on.

Edit: no wait. Ban them from Tim Hortons that'll do it

Edit edit: no no wait!!!! Better idea! Look up the plate info and start posting their names online in an official gov website. Do a press release urging the families of these people to call them back.

Heavy-duty towing experts say it will be difficult or impossible to remove the hundreds of heavy trucks entrenched in Ottawa's downtown — unless the drivers allow it.

Scrap them and junk them as if they were a demolished building.

More like TPS was firm with them and they caved. Toronto has proven in the past they don't have issues going in hard (see homeless encampment in parks).

I didn't really see much action on Sunday (I kind of stayed away from bloor/yonge on sunday) but things felt more quiet compared to monday. Yet on saturday they were being pretty proactive on shutting down more streets to clear out an area. OPS could learn a lot from TPS.

lol Mayor of Ottawa is calling on Trudeau to bring in a mediator to find "common ground" with the protestors and end the occupation. Common ground with people trying to murder hundreds?

Or even if we're just talking about the "real" protestors (but who can define that?), what's the common ground? Trudeau admits that vaccines are killing children in exchange for the protestors agreeing there aren't any 5G chips in them? These people are absolutely crazy.

Also that article (and the opinion) is that towing them as working vehicles is almost impossible if the owners try to stop them from being moved. But towing them as salvage is definitely not impossible. If the vehicles need to be damaged to move them, then so be it.

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh says he'll request an emergency debate in the House of Commons as the ongoing protests stretches into its second week.
Quote

"The situation has reached a crisis point. And in times of crisis, it is important for federal leaders to show leadership, to urge de-escalation and to work together to find solutions," he wrote.

"For over a week, the people of Ottawa have been under siege, and a similar demonstration in Coutts, Alta., has blocked the border and prevented important goods from reaching the people who need them....

"Not only have these convoys impacted people in their homes, they have also resulted in symbols of hate being promoted, sacred memorials being vandalized, local citizens being harassed and health-care workers being intimidated."

This is one of the organizers of the convoy, saying the public has "no idea what's coming," back in 2021, and hints at violence. You can't negotiate with someone like that who is completely down the rabbit hole. "Rubber bullets and pepper spray are fuck all...wait until the real bullets start flying."

I would love to see them charge him for driving a vehicle while on a cell phone. The glasses look cool and all, but you can see him clearly doing this while driving on a highway. Can also clearly see the phone is in his hand and landscape moving by at a good pace. I know it is a petty thing, but again, FUCK ‘EM.

Too bad it would be expensive and dangerous, but would love to see helicopters lift the trucks outta the core. Just like cattle getting stuck in mud, airlift them out ,tag them and sadly let them go

The police raided the protest yesterday of all the jerry cans and propane tanks...and today the protestors are just bringing them back, claiming they are filled with kool-aid and water. Police are just letting them pass despite the order against fuel coming in.

Idiots, put me in charge! We'll squash the rebellion!

Man, if only fuel had some sort of characteristic that could be used to identify it, like maybe an easily identifiable odor or something?

Shame.
