that’s what HR does. It only protects an employee if doing so shields the company from possible liability. The level of shielding is often determined by a company’s management.

people get real shocked when they realize how much on the side of management/the company HR is and not an advocate for the employee.

HR is 100% there to protect the company and not the employees.

This is actually the really good part. Lawyers LOVE babbling clients digging their own holes.

Yuuuup. This is all very Trump, calling everything unfair and saying they had perfect phone calls. You ain't the president tho and no army of furries are gonna storm the courts for you.

According to a senior developer, all work has ceased on World of Warcraft thanks to the Activision Blizzard lawsuit.

Considering the last couple of expansions, I'm pretty sure many WoW players will view that as a POSITIVE development.

I hope WoW itself crashes and burns, the MMORPG genre has stagnated and needs new games. ESO is okay (but getting old), FFXIV is okay, but is of an older style. I still maintain that GW2 is the current best MMORPG because even though the end game isn't great and it's missing an effective Holy Trinity of classes, it moved the genre forward in a big way with its action-based combat, platforming, and overall world. We basically need a big game to stand on the shoulders of GW2 to move the genre forward again.

Even GW2 itself was a type of reversion to the mean after GW1.

I think FFXIV has had a resurgence recently and people are quite enjoying it.

Does anyone else remember when bsmith239 did his best convince us that The Old Republic was TOTALLY NOT gonna be "Star Wars WoW" despite OVERWHELMING evidence to the contrary?

I mean, while the gameplay is, the story is anything but. It is a good single player game. That said, there is still something about SWTOR that just feels bad. Like, amateurish.

Is there really any demand for new MMOs that have a 20-action skill bar? I imagine we are going to basically see 4-6 skills as the standard from now on (with more focus on real-time action than standing still and casting in rotation) since most developers will want to make games that work on both PC and console.

FFXIV has well over 25+ skills and works just fine on a console or PC. And a lot of WoW players appreciate all those buttons since WoW has been dumbed down so severely in terms of actually playing any given class.

4-6 skills just doesn't cut it for a good, quality MMO. You need an arsenal of abilities, not a tiny tool kit. I tried out the New World beta and the ultra limited abilities you get there on ridiculous long cooldowns felt like a shitty version of Smite or something, not an actual MMO to be played long-term.

While you don't need an overwhelming amount of buttons to press, you shouldn't have so few that it feels like a single-player game with worse combat. And since it's an MMO it will always have worse combat, so you need to make up for that with a lot of interesting things to do. One of the main reasons I stopped playing Guild Wars is the combat felt so claustrophobic. So few abilities with very limited utility. I have more "oh shit" buttons on my White Mage in FFXIV than I had total abilities on a single hotbar in GW2, and New World is even more limited.

BDO took an interesting approach with holding directional inputs rather than a normal hotbar, and that was really fun, shame the rest of the game was fucking nothing.

That's disgusting. The look of disappointment and defeat on her face is heartbreaking. The fact that the crowd cheered them on and booed her is enraging. I wish she had been able to say, "could you maybe not laugh in my face and make jokes about what I, and many others feel is a valid complaint, and is turning away a lot of female players from your games because the women characters are overly sexualized, and stop being a bunch of assholes to someone who tries to address this issue to you? Thanks", or if not that, more succinctly, "Fuck you".

Fuck all these guys. Fuck Activision Blizzard.
