I like to think that Ellie went to Jackson and Dina forgave her :) Dina was such a ride or die I can’t see her being mad forever.

Yeah I wondered about that.

Spoiler

Ellie kinda seems like the sort of person that might not go back to Jackson? It seems like it was triggering to her, which is why she left. And she seemed willing to leave when she was confronting Joel. Who knows!

I agree about her not being a fan of Jackson but if you read her journal throughout the game she is crazy in love with Dina even at the end and then the baby as well. I can’t see her not finding Dina now that she is done with avenging Joel.

Endgame spoilers

Spoiler

Maybe it’s just me, but they were able to win me over with Abby. I think ND really nailed her character. I really started to feel for her and one of my favorite lines was after Yara was killed and Lev says that your people killed her and Abby says YOURE my people.

You get why she wanted to kill Joel. But then you get why Joel did what he did even if it was wrong. Btw, fireflies are super fucked up for not telling Ellie she was going to die. And you also understand why Ellie would want to kill Abby. You’re stuck in this position where you don’t want any of this stuff to happen! You get that party flashback with Dina and you’re just like fuck why did any of this have to happen. I see why people would say the gameplay undermines the message but it didn’t really bother me. It’s a video game and it’s not a ND video game if you don’t kill enough people to fill a small country lol. I really can’t say I enjoyed killing the people in this game. I think they did a good job trying to make the grunts a little more human.

During Day 1 with Abby I was like fuck I don’t wanna do this. Sometime during day 2 I was like ok I kinda like Abby... by the end I didn’t want Abby or Ellie to lose that final fight. And then I thought “if they made me pick one person to live..... I might pick Abby”

in that final flashback, it’s SO IMPORTANT for the future I think. She flashes back to the final convo with Joel where they are about to reconcile, or at least try to. And this girl that has lost everything including being able to play guitar is thinking “if I can forgive Joel for what he did, maybe Dina will forgive me”

imo what they did with abby and a different point of view was great.  they showed that her motivation was a direct consequence of what joel did in part 1 thus giving the world the action/consequence that you dont really see in many things.  the two POVs coming together at that moment in the theater was great and then going back and forth at the end with each of them coming together for the showdown.  the porch scene was crushing because even though ellie was distraught with watching him die and in the previous flashbacks with her being angry you see why she was still so upset after the porch convo and her willing to try and forgive and move one with him.

Neil Druckmann: "There's no plans" for The Last of Us 2 DLC (GamesRadar+)

Quote

Naughty Dog isn't planning any DLC for The Last of Us 2.

Director Neil Druckmann confirmed this in a recent podcast with Kinda Funny. Druckmann, Ellie actor Ashley Johnson, and Joel actor Troy Baker joined host Greg Miller in a lengthy spoilercast on the game, and Druckmann plainly states that "there's no plans" for any DLC around the 1:52:00 mark. I haven't embedded the video because it's obviously loaded with spoilers, so if you haven't played or finished the game yet, you'll want to save it for a later date.

Which really means that there are no "current" plans for TLoU 2 DLC, and as we all know, plans can change.

I’m actually watching this on YouTube right now, about 30 minutes in. If you have an hour and a half I’d watch it. It’s interesting hearing the process of making it and the thoughts of Druckmann, Baker, and Johnson. Where I’m at they’re talking about the story leak.

I don’t think so. That removes the weight of her choice to leave, and the imagery of her returning to an emoty home.

That would be why they didn’t show it. I mean do you really think she wouldn’t go see Dina and the baby? The only two people that matter to her? Maybe Dina doesn’t want her back, but I personally find it hard to believe Ellie wouldn’t at least go see about it.

I dunno, I can see it either way. Her journal also makes It pretty clear that she’s had times where she feels like she doesn’t deserve Dina and it’s not out of the realm of possibility that going to Santa Barbara and coming home to Dina gone would reinforce that. Tommy wanted her to go and kill Abby, she didn’t do that, etc.

I thought those journal entries about not deserving Dina were just her being insecure and she’s like 18-19, so pretty normal stuff imo. I mean you could be right.  I just think it’s more believable that she would find Dina in Jackson than she would live in the woods or go to some other region.

Um

Seattle Day 2 (don't click unless you're already past it)

Spoiler

Holy fuck, what an intense and perfect fucking sequence. The neighborhood was tense as all hell, the jeep part seemed like part Uncharted, part theme park ride. It's like a distillation of everything that makes both series great.

Oh, and no way did I think that was Jesse. In the State of Play, it was Joel, but that was clearly a fake unless the ghost of Joel was going to follow her. And that still wouldn't make sense in that scene since he stopped her from talking for a little. So naturally I thought it was Tommy. Now I'm more concerned about Tommy since we're clearly not right behind him

Also, I'm further into Day 2 at 12 - 13 hours in the game. I feel like I'm going slllooooowww.

Just finished the game last night, spoilers ahead.

Spoiler

I'll start by saying on a technical level the game is a masterpiece. The visuals, the sound, the gameplay, the actual acting and everything, top level shit.

However, fuck this game. The story actively pissed me off. It's revenge porn the game, except done entirely wrong. I don't want to sympathize with Joel's murderer. And GTFO With making Ellie a boss fight. This game is like if in the middle of John Wick they switch to the guy who killed his dog and showed him being Mother Teresa all other times and now you have to kill John because that puppy really had it coming. Fuck this shit, I don't want Abby humanized, I want her fucking dead.

The game kind of just glosses over the fact that Abby went on a 5 year revenge mission to brutally torture Joel to death. Even in her flashback scenes she's like hey I heard Joel is over there I need to go there so I can brutally murder him. But then they make Ellie look like kind of the asshole for wanting to kill her. Fuck that. They literally spend the first half of the game telling you what a bunch of dicks the wolves are, rounding up and executing all their opposition. And they make it pretty clear that Abby was one of those assholes, but AFTER she beats Joel to death with a golf club she abandons all of that to save 2 kids from her rival gang that saved her life. And now Ellie is the asshole. Let's not forget Joel helped save Abby's life but immediately after reaching safety she still brutally murders him. So Abby gets to have her 5 year revenge quest to brutally murder Joel but. Ellie's an asshole for wanting to avenge him. Yeah, fuck that.

But even before we get to thet, the story could have been better. Like someone said it was kind of bland. Okay a lot of people would have wanted Joel dead, one of them finally finds him and kills him and you're out for blood. Fairly basic, but it's enough. But they could have done a lot more. Still, even with that framework I was enjoying the first half of the game. It feels like Ellie's story, which it should be. She has her coming of age moments while she goes out on this quest and its all endearing. Feels like they are building to something, only to find out they are building up to fucking up the game.

Also game is contrived as fuck. Way too many cutscenes where people just randomly show up at the exact right moment, and conversely way too many people just get cutscene shot. They put way too much Uncharted into the game. It's too long, and it jumps around too much. The first games tighter narrative focus is way better, and while it wasn't the most complicated plot, it worked fine. I once played the first game 4 times in a row to unlock various difficulty trophies and had a blast doing it, I don't want to play this one ever again right now. I would have been fine if it continued like the first half was going, but I hated every single second of playing as Abby because I never wanted to like her, and even though she goes on a George W Bush redemption tour to make you like her in the second Half, the game makes it perfectly clear before that she's still a George W Bush tier asshole for what she's done before that.

I just finished Day 2.

Spoiler

Pretty fun and at times intense. Not that it was kept a mystery, but it did seem reasonable that WLF could have been former fireflies and wanted to make Joel pay. However, Abby did say, "Do you know who I am?" to Joel, which makes me wonder if she's anyone else.

The end of Day 2 had the shortest flashback but a memorable one.

I have, like, 17ish hours? But I don't feel like I'm super far into the game. Could someone spoiler how far into the game I am?

My God, I'm going slow as fuck

I thought I was a little bit further because I retrieved what I thought was the final training manual. But at the same time, since I heard that

Spoiler

SOMETHING happens 50% of the way through the game

that maybe I wasn't actually that far yet.

But it's cool! Why rush it, right?
