So with basically one game (I'm not counting Quake II, sorry :p that supports the biggest feature of the card, is anyone surprised that they're performing bellow expectations?

I’m guessing it has more to do with the 1200.00+ price point, and the underwhelming performance of the 2080 vs the 1080ti.

Oh OK. What does that do for the game?

For folks interested in the difference between GeForce RTX 2080 Ti TAA vs. GeForce RTX 2080 Ti DLSS, the performance gain is up to 30% at 4K resolution. With TAA, RTX 2080 Ti performs at 55 FPS average. With DLSS, the RTX 2080 Ti performs at 73 FPS average.

Also I guess if you don't know what DLSS is, here's a good explanation

DLSS, included within Nvidia’s RTX platform, leverages a deep neural network to infer the details required in a frame for less effort than non-AI enhanced approaches. It takes a similar approach to temporal anti-aliasing (TAA), which, in essence, utilises sampling across multiple frames to reduce aliasing. Whereas this is an imperfect algorithm, an AI that infers, or learns, how to best carry out similar anti-aliasing techniques is much better suited to the job. Enter: DLSS.

With the same set of samples, DLSS is able to guess, with high accuracy, what information is required for a high-quality final image. The Tensor Cores in the Turing GPU allow this to occur at a much faster pace than the Pascal architecture, and, in theory, results in performance far surpassing that of the GTX 1080 Ti in supported games.

So basically people that want the 2080ti are mad at NVIDIA when they should be mad at their boss for not giving them enough money to buy one. :p

:p Hardly. If you look at nvidia’s attempt to move to a new measurement of performance and AMDs consistency challanges in going head to head and their rising prices as well, it all points to a bad reality. It’s getting harder and harder to make a power leap and keep prices within reach of the average consumer. Sure, Nvidia has most certainly built over price cards, but worse still, it has become comfortable trying to move the goal posts while AMD has been off trying to sell hotdogs in the stands... sad days ahead for high end gamin all, buckle up!
