that looks....ok?  I don't like how the horde doesn't interact with you as soon as they reach you.  Its like they built in a small buffer or something and it seems kinda dumb.  He also seems like hes outrunning them by jogging.

If I was Sony, I would delay this game until the summer. February 22nd is a brutal release day for a game that, in my opinion, has shown very little why you should buy it.

I'm gonna keep m preorder for this for the time being. I've had it for quite a while, with the Prime discount and no tax. IF it sucks, I'll cancel it or send it back.

Feb 22nd is a brutal release day, but Days Gone's viewer metrics have been very strong.  It's tailored to hit a mainstream audience.  Should do fine.

 

Crackdown 3 is the game that really needs to move.

It's kinda easy to forget about. It was announced ages ago, been delayed, and we haven't seen a whole lot of it that's promising. 

 

I still hope for the best, but my initial hype has seriously been dampened. Now, it's just a "wait and see" take for me.

I agree, but I'd say the same about most big budget retail games these days.

Days Gone won't reinvent the wheel.  It'll be an open world game.  Perhaps with a slightly more linear narrative thread, or larger focus on dynamic events / AI routines outside of towns.  But still, an open world game.

The horde is a pretty strong distinguishing factor though, IMO.  It's a horror fantasy that hasn't been done justice yet in an open world setting.  The numbers are as big as they should be to pull it off.  They say they can spawn it anywhere, have it chase you clear across the map, and claim you can lure it into attacking other enemy AI en masse.

 

I honestly don't think the game has to be all that great to sell, so long as it nails that aspect.  They deserve major props if this isn't smoke & mirrors.  Or to be shunned if it is.

Game Informer had a whole cover story and feature about the game a couple of months back. Everything I read in that made me really intrigued about the game which is why I'm so confused as to why folks seem to be expecting the worse for this game especially given Sony's recent track record with exclusives. Shit if any game coming out on that date has anything to worry about it's Crackdown 3.

Those are personal projections.  Probably not indicative of the market itself.

 

The title is fine, not retail poison by any means.  And even if Zombie Fatigue was a real thing, not just a theory, Capcom Vancouver and Telltale left some holes open for others to fill.
