Yes. Is there a chance that advanced civilization (even more contained/less interdependent) ends before 2100? Far less likely. Is there a chance that humanity as a species ends before 2100? Not at all, barring a completely external (i.e. extraterrestrial) event. At this point my opinion of a worst-case situation in 2100 is a fascist world order where some countries (including the US) continue to be very advanced and powerful, but much of the world (Africa, south Asia) has degraded. The wide ranging eco-damage so far tells me we're really not for that long, considering the mass extinctions all around. Electric cars are one thing, but petrochemicals are going to be widely necessary in a lot of fields, like important ones like health care, that solving the locomotion problem, whether it's less car dependency or not is not going to change. And also the rest of the shitfest.

outsida
I was looking at that years ago and it’s totally legit. Chinas economy is much smaller but pegging it exactly will be impossible; even china doesn’t know the true figure.
Demut
Authoritarian regimes are famously incapable of proper self-assessment given their fraught relationship with truth and the usually present disincentives for officials at every level to report rosier data to their superiors in order to make themselves look better (or at least not rock the boat). R*ssia is another prime example of that in the present, their military apparatus in particular.
Remarkableriots
China's so desperate to boost its birth rates, it's even cracking down on customary betrothal gifts for brides to help people get married more easily NEWS.YAHOO.COM A prospective bridegroom would give betrothal gifts, called caili, to a bride's family in a show of his wealth and sincerity. Uaarkson
I know, technically we don’t force it on people. But it’s definitely in the culture.
unogueen
Modernity isn't the big shift you think it is. The lack of historical context in modern teaching does a lot of harm.

But we got married at a public park (free, just a $200 refundable deposit), we rented 100 chairs at $1 a piece. My mom made my wife’s dress. My mother in law cooked the meal for the reception. My aunt made our cakes. I think I spent more money catering my wife’s 40th birthday 😂

The biggest expense was the dinner since we went to a regular restaurant for the party.
GeneticBlueprint
Our immediate out of pocket wedding cost was whatever the license cost at the time was. We put some streamers up in some reception hall at a church and the family on both sides brought some food. I doubt all of it together cost more than a couple hundred dollars.
