As the Queen turns 96, Canada looks to a monarch-less future

I say we cut ties and just make the Governor General the head of state. Keep her/him appointed by the PM, and they serve the exact same role. Nothing changes structurally, the monarch is simply cut off at the top.

With a constitutional, parliamentary democracy you need a head of state that is separate from head of government. It's (imo) better than the US system where the same person does both jobs.

I could see a future where Canada Ditches the monarch. I really feel it doesn't do much anyways other than to be symbolic, so i'm kind of indifferent to it all.

I don't think most Canadians want to reopen a discussion on changing the Constitution in order to make that happen.

The queen should pull the reverse card and dissolve the Canadian government.

One question not being asked in that poll looks to be “how important is separating from the monarchy?”  
 

Sometimes it looks like the majority of a group oppose something, but then on a scale of how important 1- being not at all, 10- being very/do it immediately, it rates about 4.

Think about it, why would they detain her unless she was telling the truth? They obviously are trying to silence her.
