General Gaming What are you playing today?
gamer.tv replied to CastlevaniaNut18's topic in The Spawn Point
On to the 2nd dungeon. It’s strange that I did play Links Awakening DX back in the day, though never made it anywhere (I was about...8). I actually ended up nearly finishing the re-release on the 3DS, but then my 3DS died a death so I wouldn’t say it’s nostalgic for me, but certainly familiar. It’s also wonderful. -

With my wife’s side of the family we did a secret Santa. Along with some books I also received Links Awakening. So I’m set now for a few months! -
I really enjoy it. The only sad part is we haven’t been able to see by family since last Christmas, which has meant they still haven’t met my daughter, but I’m fortunate I really enjoy spending time with my wife’s family.

Oatmeal cranberry white chocolate chip cookies are the best

They do look like the bees knees - though I find it hard to beat an OG chocolate chip cookie. -
Books What Are You Reading or Listening To?

Just finished Mark. Plan. Teach. A really useful, well written book about my profession with content I will actively try and implement. Bow to read Troy and then seeing I get any books tomorrow. -

Thanks both. I also caved to my own peer pressure and bought Dead Cells, Hades, Golf Story and Undertale on the Switch just so I have them. I’ve played a tiny bit of Hades (died but didn’t feel like I was shot) and a bit more Dead Cells (died a few times and have no clue what I’m doing), but I think they’ll give me some enjoyment. -
They’re bollocks, but also fun to occasionally read when there’s nothing else to read.

General Gaming What games did you spend a surprising amount of time on?
gamer.tv replied to Bloodporne's topic in The Spawn Point
To actually contribute to the thread, Inthink my agents of War 3 and Halo Reach playtime’s were both in the high tens. They were my go-to online games for about two years and I’d play them most days with a good binge on the weekends. I miss being great at a game - currently I’m just not shit at Rocket League. -

The Stand and The Green Mile would be my choices and in that order. The rest are good, but The Stand is such a great story and told in that particular King way. -
General Gaming Indie Games Discussion and Recommendations
gamer.tv replied to ShreddieMercury's topic in The Spawn Point
I will go through the thread properly after dinner, but I would like some recommendations. Playing Dark Souls Remastered and I would love an indie counter-balance game - something I can play that isn’t intense in the slightest. We have Stardew Valley on the PS4 so I don’t fancy paying twice. I’m thinking Spiritfarer would be a good shout, but a few others would be amazing. -
What are you getting yourself for the holidays?
gamer.tv replied to SuperSpreader's topic in The Shower
Depending on Christmas, I’ll either get the Links Awakening remaster or buy it. I might also get a few indie titles (Undertale at least) and maybe something else. I’m all set for books and fitness things, so really it’s only games I want. -

Beat the Capra Demon after about 10 goes on my own. Now to beat Bowser on Odyssey. -
I’ve got a very specific but fond memory of visiting my sister at university in 2006 and her housemate having a PS1 with GT which I played a load of. Also the first time I went out clubbing as a wee 16 year old, pretending that my sister and I were twins to get into places.

The UK continues to be a chore to live in at the moment. If I was Scottish, Welsh or Irish I’d be screaming to be independent. The constant change of rules and restrictions is also somewhat confusing. We have a support bubble with my in-laws as we have a child under one, so can mix and we travelled last Friday to spend Christmas with them. Literally the next day the government announced you can only see people on Christmas Day only...so I’m not sure if that means I should have driven the three hours home, or we can stay (we’re staying until January). I literally hate this government and actively want it to change as it has consistently underperformed for the past two years. I would prefer Teresa May, I’d even welcome David Cameron - not just an entire party built on 6th choice leaders that are not capable of managing two of the most challenging situations in British history. Maybe I should just move my family to the Isle of Man and we can hide away from it all.

I loved The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings, but I enjoyed all the lord, location description and style of writing. The Simarillion however I had to push through, although it was very interesting - it was like reading a book from the Bible. -

I did try it way back in 2015 but never stuck with it. I’ve managed to find Darkroot Forest and the Butterfly boss, so just grinding some souls and getting some more Humanity so I can demolish it with the Witch summon. -

I’ve finished 11.23.63 and despite it being completely ridiculous, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was almost more fun as, after a long term of teaching, it’s the Christmas Holidays and after 50 hour work weeks and a newborn to take care of, my wife has banned me from working. That has meant since Saturday afternoon I’ve read about 300 pages and loved it. I’ve got some education based books to read (Mark. Plan. Teach and Running the Room) along with Troy by Stephen Fry to read over the break. -

General Gaming Cyperpunk's delisting is a warning for cross-gen
gamer.tv replied to crispy4000's topic in The Spawn Point
The cost of the return of the disc being less than the cost of transit? Although we will be keeping ours (for the eventual update, the option to upgrade to a PS5 version later on and the fact it was gifted by @Commissar SFLUFANand is an extra special copy because of that). -

The question is, can you get a refund of the physical copy and then just keep it? -

Dark Souls on the Switch. I’ve beaten the Taurus Demon by using Fire Bombs and running and away and just acquired the Drake Sword. I just need to level up a bit to wield it one handed and then push on. Update: Bumped my strength up to 16 and oh my Dragon Swords the Drake Sword is decent. Update 2: At the Stone Gargoyles and died a few times, but I don’t have any humanity so I’ll have a few more goes at it tomorrow. Really, with fire bombs, pyro and a decent sword it shouldn’t take too long - if I can concentrate for a decent length of time on them. Done. No idea where to go next.
