  1. Like all Nintendo fans, I was interested in the Switch from the first announcement trailer, but I've never been one to get a console at release, so I initially planned on waiting. Then, due to a wedding, returning to higher education and having a baby, the idea of getting one kept being pushed back in favour of more sensible things (a new bathroom, fixing the car, paying for the dogs vets bills etc). But it finally felt like the right time to get one - now I have a full time job, the house is in a reasonable state, most things are taken care of - and I was hoping there would be a few Black Friday deals to help out. Well, in the UK at least, that didn't happen. There are a few games, but for the console the only thing that was reduced was the number of console actually available. In fact, due to national lockdown, there wasn't actually anywhere within 50 miles that I could go and collect one after buying online. So, I've opted for the classic next day delivery and tomorrow I should hopefully be the recipient of a Neon Switch, Ring Fit Adventure and Super Mario Odyssey. Now the main point of the thread, what games should I be looking at straight away? I've already played (and nearly finished) Breath of the Wild on Wii U and I have my eyes on Smash Bros, Mario Kart 8 (despite playing a huge amount again on the Wii U), Luigi's Mansion 3 and maybe Splatoon 2...but what else should I add to my list?
  2. Took me long enough to clock it, I saw Sabaton support Dragon Force is 2010 and they were awesome. Definitely live that dream. In an ideal world, live that dream in Germany.
  3. Just to add on, nothing like two months of being incorrectly taxed so receiving a rebate of about £500.
  4. I'll begin my thread by apologising to those that are not in employment, but otherwise wish they could be - I do understand how frustrating an experience that is to live through and I hope it works out for you. At nearly 31, I've finally found a vocation (not just a job) that I love. After 2 and a half years of planning, studying and - horrific to say - actual hard work, I'm a qualified, employed teacher, teaching a class of 7 and 8 year olds. I love my job so much. I love the fact it takes a load of work to run properly. I love that I can get better every day and I can be responsible for that. I love the fact that it comes with a legitimate progression, that isn't overly dictated by the politics that dogged office work. I love that it's really hard job, that's only made easier by working at it, preparing properly and being part of a supportive work environment. I also love the fact it's routed in learning and that seeing children learn something, or try hard, or even when they fail and need help - is so much more rewarding than my previous life as a manager of a team of adults that worked for money - not because they enjoyed their job (much the same as me). So, for me - I'm very fortunate. There are obviously hard days (very hard days in fact) and balancing this new career with an 11 week old baby, a desire to stay fit, eat well, spend time with my Wife, walk my dog and have some kind of leisure time - as it stands right now, I wouldn't change anything.
  5. It feels wrong that PS4 owners can’t benefit from that considering many of those games haven’t even made it to PS+ yet, but are certainly in the right catchment.
  6. BDSM is a variety of often erotic practices or roleplaying involving bondage, discipline, dominance and submission, sadomasochism, and other related interpersonal dynamics. Given the wide range of practices, some of which may be engaged in by people who do not consider themselves to be practising BDSM, inclusion in the BDSM community or subculture often is said to depend on self-identification and shared experience. Oh. My. God.
  7. There I was, scrolling away, adding a few politics, sport and game podcasts and low and behold I see a link for erotic stories. This obviously makes sense as a thing, I haven’t listened to one...yet, but the summary has the line ‘he looked up at me from my vulva’ so I’m not holding out hope for greatness.
  8. I just had a flick through and I counted 11 games that I haven’t played yet but still want to . I don’t know if this is a testament to how many good games have come out in the last three years or how few games I’ve actually bought. Either way, enjoy and I hope you all have some one off work in the next few months to see out the previous generation and welcome the new.
  9. For those that doubt the third person James Bond, go buy Everything or Nothing for less than the cost of an apple and enjoy a quality EA game. Back when that weird kid would whisper ‘challenge everything’ during the loading stage.
  10. Really looking forward to RE8 and just slightly related, I've just started Ace Attorney on the DS for the first time. It's been good - though a fair bit of reading and clicking to get through after a long day of work..

    What's up?

Currently in school, calling parent's as it's our Parents Evening day (well, second one). Then home, bit of looking at the baby, eating some dinner, watching the Crown and then bed time!
  12. The highs of this generation have been really high (Last of Us Part 2, God of War, Breath of the Wild, Red Dead Redemption 2) - but it has also been a very familiar generation. I'd also say that I had more fun with Gears 2, CoD4, Bioshock, Mario Galaxy 2...
  13. I've literally been waiting three years for one - the curse of deciding to change careers and going right to her bottom of the money pile/back to school with no income. I’m not waiting any more dagnabbit!
  14. Sorry to bump this random thread. I was browsing trying to decide on which Switch bundle to buy and after thinking about the 3D All Stars bundle, there was a suggested google search for Metroid Prime. This made me wonder how long it will be until we have a Metroid Prime trilogy re-release. We know that the joycon are capable of replicating the Wii and it would be nice for the first two games to offer a choice of control method. Just some random thoughts.
  15. I look forward to buying it, playing a good 10 hours and then remembering that actual Souls games annoy me more than I enjoy them.
  16. I'm most likely leaning towards something like a 4K Samsung, purely as they are fairly entry level, I've had positive experiences in the past and don't cost the earth, though comments about ensuring the television has a 120hz at 4K, I'll be choosing carefully as it would be nice to get the most out of the console.
  17. Another reminder that by about the 20th of July (next year), I need to save up about £900 to buy a new television, a PS5, a sound bar and a few games. I'd say it wasn't essential, but we currently have some old Philips television that weighs a ton - and both myself and my wife play are keen gamers. The deadline is mainly as that's around the start of the summer holiday's and will hopefully be a reward to myself for passing my probation year...
  18. As a teacher, podcasts have become a great way of building my subject knowledge and stealing great ways of sharing that love of history. Will book mark a few of these...and the thread in general.
  19. Play guitar, teach kids and make fun of kids in a way that is incredibly mean - but goes enough over their heads they don’t tell their parents on me
  20. I appreciate that we're getting a lot of ports...but does this generation already feel like a summary of the highlights of last gen - but at 120FPS?
  21. Am I the only one that finds the whole ‘if it’s wrong you get banned’ trade off - as if any of it really matters.
