  1. I can already hear Fox News and co. saying that this is the delayed result of Trump's policies.
  2. I'm generally way too cautious to wait until I've already wrecked myself before checking myself.
  3. Yeah I took my dog out and he pancaked on the ice a couple of times (even though he's a spry 4 year old Aussie). I have Yaktrax that I was wearing so I was fine, but yeah the sidewalks and many side streets are just solid ice, now even slicker with the drizzle.
  4. Might be worth testing for the 'rona, but yeah I've also just woken up with e.g. a stiff neck or back. Did you sleep a super long time? That makes my back sore sometimes, if on rare occasion I'm in bed for 9+ hours.
  5. Not to get us too far off topic, but I've heard good things about this adapter, though I haven't used it myself.
  6. Nope! I just missed the train, I guess. I'm sure it's a game I'd love but I've just never taken the time to start it.
  7. Having never played Elder Scrolls ( ) and loving previous GTA games, I think I'm more excited for GTA VI.
  8. Over this long weekend I spent several hours cataloging and finally sorting all of my physical movies. I made an Excel sheet which has the title, media type ( 4K Blu-ray, 2K Blu-ray, DVD), where I bought it (because I bought a lot of my movies in Germany while I was living there), the type (movie, TV show, other), as well as whether they have a German audio track in general (to keep up my German). My next step will be to use the Python package called Cinemagoer to automatically look up each title I have and link it to its IMDb page. Anyway once I had all my data I just sorted them the way I wanted (by media type, then German audio track, then movie/tv/other, then title) and arranged them on my shelves accordingly. All told I have a little over 300 movies and TV shows, breaking down as follows: 4K Blu-ray: 32 2K Blu-rays: 150 DVDs: 139 Total: 321 Total with German audio: 92
  9. Maybe it's just coincidence, but I feel like I've been noticing some major spikiness with YouTube, even as a Premium member.
  10. The fun continues! Portland is now expecting an ice storm starting tomorrow morning.
  11. I'm with you: we should do more to protect the increasingly rare commodities of peace and quiet.
  12. Gotta start somewhere though, and just having something will look better than gaps on your resume (as stupid and unfair as that is). Good luck!
  13. Do you two not have Martin Luther King Jr. day off tomorrow?
  14. Yeah when I took my dog out yesterday it was certainly cold (-5° F), but what made it really uncomfortable was the wind driving the snow and ice crystals into my face. Today it's still cold (about 10° F) but there's much less wind so I was actually almost too warm with how I bundled up (SmartWool base layer on top and bottom, t-shirt, fleece, a down jacket warmth layer, and an insulated shell, snow pants, gloves, hat).
  15. How's everyone surviving out there? I saw a news article earlier that something like 50-60% of the US was expecting some inclement weather this weekend. Here in Portland, OR it's been hovering around 15 degrees F all day but accounting for the gusty arctic winds (30+ mph), the "feels like" temperature has been closer to -5 all day, which is shockingly cold for here, considering that typically in the winter it's more like in the 40s, maybe upper 30s. We've only got a couple inches of snow but it's just brutally cold and windy, in a city that isn't used to handling it, let alone snow. @Fizzzzle do you have power? I saw that about 155,000 people in Portland don't currently have power. So far I've still got power (and therefore heat) but it sure is miserable taking my dog out, even briefly. How about you all? Everyone hanging in there?
  16. Before I saw that it stands for Ferroelectric RAM, I read "FeRAM" as "Iron RAM" and now I'm disappointed.
  17. Seems like another step along the path of phasing out physical media altogether, but I guess we'll see.
