  1. I went on my first run in a long time (4 months?) and my first night run in the city tonight. I only did a little over a mile (trying not to overdo it) at around a 9 min/mile pace, but it felt great. Work has been stressing me out lately and I needed to move. My dog loved it too. Going to try to run more regularly, rain or shine.
  2. Here's another vote of confidence in your enjoyment of The Dark Tower series, now that you're through the worst one. Wizard and Glass (#4, IIRC) was one of my favorite books for a long time. I only say "was one of my favorite" because it's been a very long time (15+ years) since I've read it, at this point, but I remember it had a great and very moving story. Enjoy the journey ahead!
  3. Ah yes, I bet that's it; I did indeed just copy and paste. Thanks! Mann vs. Machine is a pretty fun mode; basically you and some friends fight against waves of bots that are pretty dumb but they overwhelm with numbers. You're right, we might have more luck getting a game of that mode going than a full 12 v. 12. I'll try to get something organized in the next days!
  4. Yeah I got one too, for the first time ever.
  5. Also I'll just point out that we're a little imbalanced in our powers of persuasion, @stepee. You convinced me to buy Rokid Max glasses ($400), a Steam Deck ($550), and an LG G3 ($3,000) and I convinced you to buy Genital Jousting ($3).
  6. I think I know the answer to this but... I was just poking around in some Steam community pages and I found the Bad Cartridge/D1P group (anyone not in it already should join!) and I noticed that its description mentions the TF2 server. Unfortunately, I can't even remember the last time I played on it (maybe 2015 ? ) and when I tried to connect to the IP given in the Steam group from within TF2, it said it couldn't find anything. It's gone, right @Commissar SFLUFAN ? Would people still potentially be interested in a TF2 night some weekend, for old time's sake?
  7. I saw you added it to your wishlist. I was playing on the Steam Deck earlier (maybe 5 minutes) but resumed playing on my desktop for the last 45 minutes just because I was on my desktop already after just having stopped playing Counter-Strike 2, but it does seem to run very well on the Deck, FWIW. I don't want to oversell it though... it's definitely not GOTY material , but it's an amusing way to spend a bit of time, IMO. And it was $5 or so.
  8. Busted. I've had the game for a while and never tried it. Its story mode is surprisingly funny; I'm about 45 minutes in (to what the Internet claims is about a 1.5 hour mode) and it's made me laugh out loud quite a few times, though I fully admit to having a juvenile sense of humor at times. It has this proper sounding British lady narrating a story of a dick that is unhappy with his life and he tries all kinds of things to make himself happy. For example: Mild Genital Jousting story spoilers Anyway I think if someone can laugh at that kind of stuff (e.g. the South Park: Stick of Truth game) you'll probably enjoy this; it's an amusing, short, and very playable game. I won't expect to become an international Genital Jousting champ online though.
  9. I'm still pretty thoroughly addicted to Counter-Strike 2.
  10. HUGE mistake. It will ruin all other monitors for you that aren't OLED.
  11. The article says "more than 400 episodes", but I still laughed. I didn't realize this before but Waterston is 83 years old! I find it pretty impressive to still be so active in your career at that age; hopefully he has many good years ahead of him to enjoy his full retirement.
  12. Beautiful pup! How old, and how long have you had him?
  13. Yeah sounds like he needs to retire and continue to sink into his Fox News hellhole. Good for you for recognizing the issues there and doing something about it; that's huge!
  14. I was one of the people hired by a tech company during the COVID expansions. Just in my immediate team of around 15, in the last year and a half we've lost 4, and my company in general lost several thousand employees. I think the only reason we aren't (currently) going through more of that is because they haven't replaced those that left from the layoffs or just from regular attrition.
  15. Good for you for advocating for yourself. If you don't mind sharing, I'm curious: what made you realize that they may not have had your best interests at heart?
  16. See this is why I don't feel prepared to get into investing; my reading comprehension is dogshit when I'm tired.
  17. Fortunately I didn't have to do that, no. It's true that the included bracket doesn't let it get super far out from the wall, but I found it more than enough to get all of my cables plugged in. I can imagine if you didn't have very easy access to the sides of your TV it might be trickier.
  18. Working 12 hour days when you're salaried is horse shit.
  19. When I lived in North Carolina for a couple of years after college, I went up to DC once to visit my sister and we met up with @Commissar SFLUFAN for a drink and had a lovely time. To this day, if I ever mention the forums to my sister, she will occasionally bring up his name and say something like "it's still the best real name that sounds fake that I've ever heard." We met up roughly 15 years ago. It's the gift that keeps on giving, sir.
  20. Unless you mean that your particular setup would require a lot of shuffling things around or something, FWIW I have my G3 wall mounted and it was super easy. The TV includes the necessary bracket and a paper outline of the TV (so you can place it exactly where you want it). I just used a stud finder, a level, and a drill to get it mounted in about 15 minutes with the help of a friend. The TV is fucking legit.
  21. Yeah I commented to someone the other day that we were at -15 less than two weeks ago and that day I had taken my dog out in just jeans and a T-shirt. In Portland in January.
