I also figured out how to use the pouch. (Yes 30 hours in!) A lot more convenient when you want to use your horse or throw a quick projectile without cycling through your inventory.

Oh damn! That must've been really cumbersome for 30 hours! I have the horse mapped to Triangle & Down

20k? With what I had already, enough for a few levels at the time.

But I'm one of those people who seemingly NEVER uses any of the boss weapons in any Souls game. Every time I've tried I ended up regretting not just getting the XP.

I just like owning them.

So, how many actually false walls has everyone found? Im at 1.

Not totally. I'm on foot most of the time because I want to explore nooks in crannies. I use the horse a lot more for combat or a double jump. :p

Have you ever fed your horse? You can craft it, and I guess you won't have to waste a flask charge resurrecting it but I haven't done it.

This game is so unbelievably huge. Still finding completely new areas that take hours to get through (not complete, just get through and do some of the stuff there) despite being 73 hours in in-game time (probably 60-65 if you subtract massive AFK time when I leave the game open... which I do kind of frequently) I don't feel I'm anywhere near done. And not in a bad way. I still want to just get in there and explore.

I guess at this point I just wish instead of icons there was a note-taking system. I'd love to be able to type notes for my icons because it's getting really hard to remember everything by icon alone.

Also if you haven't started using map icons yet... do it. You might not need them now but they'll come in super handy later. For things you can't access yet, for bosses you haven't killed yet, for merchants, for specific resources you might use a lot, for all kinds of stuff. In the beginning keeping it all straight in my head was easy, but not anymore.

Map icons, and I kept a notepad because there is no way I can keep it all straight.

This is, without a doubt, my GoAT. After going through Radahns grounds, I was positive that this is the best game ever made. I want to see every inch of this world, and then I want to do it again with DLC.

Yeah but only a few times. I didn't get why you could do that until exactly that happened...wasting a flask on Mr. Horse getting smashed.

Also, not sure if this is common knowledge but Poison swamps don't affect your horse. If you ride through it, no poison buildup.

Yup, he's great protection in elements.

The next place "need" to clear looks absolutely insane. It's extreme fire, so im HOPING the spare legendary hatchet I've been leveling comes in clutch in this area. I figure ice build up and hoarfrost stomp should be handy tools in there

I think a good QOL change would be able to use your runes while you're resting at the Grace Under Fire. You can sell your runes for the same price it would take to use them at a merchant but you can't use them while you're at the Grace when you want to level up.

So like a bank you can't level with? That's actually interesting.

Yeah I guess, I mean that's how it is currently.

To clarify: Currently if you go to a merchant, you can sell your runes to him for the same value they are. But you can also use them to obtain them and then use them to buy from the merchant.

At a site of grace  you have to use your runes before you level up. You can't use the runes directly from the level up screen.

So I'm saying it would be nice to be able to use them kind of like how it works now at the merchant so I don't have to back out of the screen, go to my inventory and sit back down.

At this point activating rune items should just be instant and not kick you out of the menu, just like when you sell them. It's just a dated, meaningless contrivance at this point. When I get a bunch of rune items I find it far less annoying to just go to a merchant and sell them all.

Approaching level 100! Bosses be dropping left and right in my Epic quest for Somber Smithing Stone 7, er, to become an Elden Lord! :sun: Went with a Dex build and am now at 48 Dex, so I'm ready for a certain weapon which I will not spoil here.

Yeah what the fuck is with somber stone 7? I've had 8 and 9 for over 10 hours now...

You can use them all at once.

No, you can use one STACK all at once, and then you get kicked out of the menu, and have to go do it again for the next stack. I can sell almost all of my runes in the time it takes to use a single stack.

Ya'll are all talking about some cool stuff... I've been running around in circles for 15 hours and I still have a +1 sword because I need 4 smithing stones and I've been stuck at 3 for what feels like forever. I tried going around to the areas that it looks like they're excavating to try and farm but nothing.

I finally found the sorcerer lady and got a spell... but I can't use it because in all my time playing I've never come across a staff.

I found my way down to the Sophria River through the well but everything there is making quick work of me. Probably because of said +1 sword.

I've killed a few of the side bosses, but I'm so laughably bad at understanding the game's logic it's taking me 5x longer to figure out how to do the things you guys have been doing since day 1 lol

Have you tried here (if you're so inclined to read):

Spoiler

at the Northwestern end of the large lake near the starting area, there's a mining cave entrance. Just avoid the big fucking dragon and ignore it for now.

I was unaware of this place. I've been avoiding that area for obvious reasons.

There are a few dungeons that are chock full of false walls.

Man, exploring feels so good in this game. I've completed a number of dungeon locations in each area, most of the evergaols and I feel like I've taken out so many bosses. But then I look at my map and realize "Oh crap, I've left that area completely untouched. Let's see what's going on here." Thankfully, I've managed to gather all of the items for my intended build and now all I have to do is finish leveling (currently 75) to 125. If anyone wants some inspiration, this is what I've been working towards for my first character:

Build Name: Holy Reaper

Link: https://tinyurl.com/2p9buyzd

Starting Class: Confessor

Preferred Weapon 1: Grave Scythe (Spinning Slash, Sacred Blade, Sacred Order, Flame of the Red Manes, Flaming Strike)

Preferred Weapon 2: Sword of Night & Fire

Preferred Seal: Golden Order Seal

Preferred Armor: Royal Remains

Preferred PvE Incantations: Flame of Frenzy, Litany of Proper Death

Preferred PvP Incantations: Flame of the Fell God, Elden Stars

Preferred Summons: Rotten Stray, Kindred Rot, Putrid Corpse, Mimic Tear

Preferred PvE Talisman: Faithful Canvas, Marika's Scarseal, Carian Filligreed Crest, Green Turtle Talisman

Primary Stat Focus: Faith, Vigor

Secondary Stat Focus: Mind, Endurance

Tertiary Stat Focus: Dexterity, Intelligence, Arcane

Final Stat Spread at Level 125

  • Vigor - 40
  • Mind - 27 (30)
  • Endurance - 27
  • Strength - 17
  • Dexterity - 13
  • Intelligence - 21 (24)
  • Faith - 47 (50)
  • Arcane - 12 (15)

Virtually everything here can be found in the open world/spelunking through dungeons. However, getting additional talisman slots and a couple of incantations requires story progress and the armor requires that you meet a certain NPC in a certain village.

After initially going Warrior and Dex I’ve changed my mind and want to respec towards something very similar to this based on some items I’ve found. Thanks for the guide!

If you've only seen 1 False Wall, you've missed a lot.

I mean, I never doubted I missed alot... I'll do more searching when im done playing through the main story stuff. Right now, I complete an area boss, then I search the rest of their zone. Once I go through everything i can find without help, I move on. When I finish, ill come back, maybe in a second playthrough, just to really explore everything. I want to do a str/faith build in the future anyway.

Theres a nice frost hatchet around which is handy later. Icerind Hatchet. Its in the swamp behind the academy. An online search will show you exactly where.

I agree that guy can fuck off lol. Also anytime I get runes I immediately go and use them then cause I’m not losing them.

Don't even worry about that dude yet. I checked out what was down there last night, killed him and I forgot what the reward was now but...it wasn't some game-changing shit or anything.

Also, he gave me like 2000 runes.

I never jumped down there because I saw so many bloodstains I assumed it was insta-death :p

I normally do spend them right away, in fact I went right there after the Tree Sentiel to spend them. And I wouldnt have normally jumped bc im a big pussy when i have a few thousand souls on me. But I was having network issues last night and was playing offline so no bloodstains were showing up. Totally  Forgot, and leaped right over thinking it was a shortcut to the blacksmith. Lol.
