It's the worse written worse acted Star Wars movie regardless of whether or not we liked the direction the story took and there's some embarrassingly bad VFX shots in there particularly in the arena sequence. Its just a poorly made, bad movie by any metric. Rise of Skywalker is the same with a slapped together script that makes absolutely no sense when you think about it for more than a couple of minutes. Say what you want about the others you listed as being worse, they are at least competently made movies. The fact that you have Last Jedi as THE WORSE Star Wars movie ever made shows how far apart we are on this so I'll just agree to disagree and move on. Keyser_Soze Posted June 21, 2021 Share Posted June 21, 2021 Here are the Pros and Cons of each movie Star Wars Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace Pros The movie ends at some point Darth Maul looks cool Cons Jake Lloyd - Jake Lloyd is pretty terrible in this and the movie is difficult to watch because of this Very tedious Racist aliens - Watto, those Asian aliens, and the gungans of course Jar Jar - Overall, no one ever liked this guy Darth Maul a wasted character - He has no lines, he's just there to get chopped in half at the end. Bad Acting - The majority of the acting is bad The movie is a vessel to get to the Podracing - When everything is said and done most of the movie doesn't matter, it all leads up to the podracing scene which is cool once but is very tiring to watch multiple times. The Dinner Scene - facetiously mentioned in my other post. Star Wars Episode 2 - Attack of the Clones Pros More abundant and better action / fight scenes Ninja Yoda Better characters More interesting story That new meme Cons Acting still kinda bad throughout Abundant CG makes the movie look fake Bad romantic chemistry - I guess this would fall in with the bad acting This list means that Episode 2 is decidedly much better than Episode 1. At the end of the day, if someone like @Dodger has gone his whole life never having seen a Star Wars movie I certainly wouldn't recommend he watch ANY prequel movie. In fact, while playing this game the idea of episode 3 had never crossed my mind. Rogue One would be fine to watch as I feel the game has a more direct tie to that movie than anything else, plus Rogue One is one of the best if not the best star war movie, plus it is more modern than the original film which might make it more accessible. I’m not a huge sci fi guy in general though. I’ve been wanting to watch all the movies but the gf won’t watch them with me and watching them on my own time would cut into video game time. Maybe next time she’s visiting family on her own I’ll try to get into it. I think Johnson wanted to try to turn Star Wars into something profound, which just isn't what Star Wars is. Most of us don't want our expectations subverted with SW, we just want a heroes journey with great characters and cool battles. It was a good movie that just isn't what I want from Star Wars. Its better than Clones or Rise of Skywalker, but imo, it wasn't what I wanted from Star Wars. I certainly wouldn't put it above 6th place in my personal ranking, and its not a close 6th. I would give RO 4th place by a long shot. And 7 would be my 5th. That said, I normally try not to talk about it, because as soon as you mention you don't like it, you're attacked by people claiming you're a misogynistic shitlord (which happened to me on this forum), because you obviously can't dislike it for any other reason. I found it impossible for me to watch that movie without constantly thinking "why would they do that, are they a fucking moron"? From, how Hux was reduced from a typical semi-competent Star Wars villain to a caricature of a Saturday cartoon villain in the first scene, to how Poe/Finn/Rose were treated as incompetent boobs, to how Holdo comes off as the most incompetent military leader of all time, to everything to do with the Casino sub-plot, to how the entire premise of the fleet chase makes no sense in a universe with Hyperspace Drives (particularly when Finn/Rose are able to jump into the FO fleet later), to Luke/Snoke dying in the most anti-climactic way possible. It completely fails to provide entertainment as a semi-mindless popcorn movie, and completely fails at being a coherent "real movie". At least RoS provided some entertaining set pieces. It was a poorly-paced, McGuffin-filled action movie. But, at least it had Storm Troopers that got launched into the air with jet packs.
