Pet Sematary official trailer

Recommended Posts

I'm a massive fan of the book and am hoping that this time around they can at least capture a little tiny bit of its harrowing menace. The trailer in itself looks alright I think but I assume it'll be missing one of the harshest sequences like the first film.

A truly brutal book in terms of dread and the pervasive feeling of personal loss.

Funny, I just read this book for the first time over the summer.

It looks to be a pretty direct implementation of the book, which is probably a good thing. The book really sold me on their grief, as mentioned by Bloodporne, and I especially remember that some of the descriptions of the violence and the dead were pretty shocking and grotesque, in a good way. Unless this gets completely panned I'll check this out. Thanks for posting it, @Remarkableriots

Watched it earlier and my initial thought negative because I can't think of 'sometimes dead is better' without hearing Fred Gwynne's voice. Just sounds wrong. Fred nailed the Maine accent perfectly. I'm still looking forward to the movie though. I'm pretty sure King has said he feels this is his most disturbing book.

You beat me to it, Fred knocked it out of the park.

I haven’t read it, are talking like descriptions as extreme as those in American Psycho?

I remember reading Pet Sematary for the first time when I was about 15 and it was incredibly creepy and uncomfortable...that being a good thing.  I also quite liked the original movie (it wasn't amazing, but certainly better than expected) so this will be good.

Here's hoping we get the Stephen King dream of a faithful recreation of The Dark Tower series as a series and The Stand as a multi-release movie.

I didn't think the new It movie was that great. It was fine but I didn't think it deserved the hype. I'm getting the same feeling from this trailer. It will be a fine remake, but if you've already read the book and seen the original you might not get much out of this. That's how I felt about It anyways

Unfortunately I've never read American Psycho to be able to fairly compare the two. I just remember in Pet Sematary there were some descriptions that provided very vivid images, such as of

Pet Sematary spoilers

the cat, Church, and how his fur smelled after he came back, and how the way he acted was not quite right. Or the skin of the people who came back. Those kinds of details.

One part in the movie that defies description that eternally creeps me out is the dude's sister, and how she's got all these fucked up holes in her back. ?

Also that part where the kid slices Jud's Achilles. :nervous:
