CitizenVectron
UK says Falklands are British as Argentina seeks new talks | AP News APNEWS.COM LONDON (AP) — Britain has reasserted its sovereignty over the Falkland Islands after Argentina pulled out of a cooperation agreement and demanded new talks over the South Atlantic territory that sparked a 1982 war between the two countries. As someone on resetera eloquently put it, "Don't these people realize that 80s nostalgia is over and 90s and 00s nostalgia is in?"

CayceG
Honestly, the Argentines should just give up on this.
Spork3245
It should really just come down to what the ~3000 people living there want, IMO
GeneticBlueprint
Aren’t the islands populated by pretty much entirely by Brits anyways?

AbsolutSurgen
Argentina doesn’t care about the people. It’s all about resources and domestic politics.

unogueen
Any dipshit who knows what the map looks like knows how stupid this is. The question is the british navy going to do a parade about it.
AbsolutSurgen
Clearly. Argentina should be able to take over a self-governing island that is 500 km away from it. That has just as much logic as the US being able to take over Cuba or China taking over Taiwan, just because they are much closer to them than that. unogueen
The argies are hardly preening like America or China over other territories. Just another round of nothingburger because the news is lazy. And Tierra del Fuego is right next door.
