The Old Hunters and it's a warp point you can access at a specific location. The Hunter's Dream will have a notification in it when it's accessible as far as I recall. I can spoil it for you if you want.

It really is very-late-game content though difficulty wise. Outside of the deepest chalice dungeons, it has the most brutal, and some of the coolest, bosses in the game.

I wish I would have done it sooner, tbh. I just finished a second playthrough of BB since it released so I could do the DLC for the first time, and I smoked every boss. Like first try on most of them, even the final boss that everyone says is one of the hardest in a From game.

This is in no way a bragging post, more of a warning to watch your level. As it's really easy to over level in this game.

I forgot when/how I did it exactly but DEFINITELY right at the beginning of NG+ or I may have started a new game from scratch again to get there. Whenever I did them, Ludwig especially was a legendary level of getting my ass handed to me.

Most of the bosses of the DLC are harder than the final boss of the main game. That is kinda how the majority of DLC bosses are across all FROM games. DLC definitely feels like something that is meant for a second play-thru. Tho, tbh, the final bosses are rarely the hardest bosses in the base games.

Spoil how exactly? If it's just the name of a boss I need to beat first then that's probably fine. I know the names of a few of them even if I don't know what they look like or their mechanics, so if you said, "once you beat Amelia [or whatever her name is], a new warp point will open up" then OK I'll be on the lookout for it, even though yeah I know it's more of a late game area so it'll be a while before I can tackle it haha.

IMO, there are almost no such things as spoilers in FROMSOULS games. The "spoilers" are basically walk-thru like content such as learning how to beat a boss from a video.

I kind of agree with that since this games aren't super heavy on explicit story, and the story is more abstract, and you need to piece things together from item descriptions. Really the main things I would consider a spoiler are showing me bosses or areas that are best left up to a surprise.

You need to beat a certain boss, receive an item in Hunter's Dream and then go to a specific location. So, that kind of spoiling. You can access the area pretty early on and unlock the warp point at least to return to later.

You might as well just tell me the names to look out for then. It's not like I'm going to know what they look like until I see them myself anyway lol

I'm just trying to be vague in case you didn't want it fully spoiled, some people are sensitive to that shit

Spoiler

After beating Vicar Amelia in the huge cathedral, you'll receive an item you can't really miss in the Hunter's Dream...forgot the name. In the item description is kind of hints at what to do. There's an Amygdala creature hugging one of the spires in the Cathedral Ward courtyard where a small well is, you'll know where I mean once you start playing. It's a left from the first warping point in Cathedral Ward I want to say? If you go into that corner and stand still for a second, that Amygdala thing picks you up, it does that with or without DLC item, but if you do have the item, it'll warp you to the DLC area. Voila. It's not as complicated as it sounds. Go there, get warped.

To physically see the Amygdala, you have to have some insight, otherwise its invisible. Still think it picks you up no matter what if I remember right.

Hmm so I haven't started it yet, but I pressed the Options button on the controller to view Information, and under the view Installed Add-Ons The Old Hunters is listed. So I know at least it got reinstalled. Hopefully I have access to it.

Jedi Fallen Order on second hardest difficulty imo would be a perfect introduction to Fromsoft style action if you're not used to super challenging games.  Otherwise, Dark Souls 1, Bloodborne, or Nioh 2 if you still prefer face buttons for combat instead of R1, R2.

The DLC has one of the best bosses of all time IMO so play it if you can.

I think I know which one, but since they're all great, which one would you say is one of the GOAT?

Is that included with the PS Plus version?

It's not, but if you're playing Bloodborne and thinking, "Holy this, this rocks," buy the DLC. You will not be disappointed AT ALL.

I do have a GOTY edition imported and love it.

All right, I'm going to start this game this week. Any tips? I hear good things about the Ludwig Blade, which I believe is a strength based sword, so I should start with a strength heavy class I guess, right?

I'm looking forward to finally playing this.

Ludwig's Holy Blade is a quality weapon meaning it scales with both Strength and Dex (or Skill as it is called in BB) evenly or at least nearly evenly. If you plan on using that weapon you should be putting points into both STR and SKL.

Or at least I think so. For some reason, before the DLC came out, I stopped putting points into Skill when I had 25 Skill. I know I ended up adding more points into skill, but I also know at 25 points you start seeing diminishing returns in SKL and STR. I know I never hit the soft cap of 50 in either tho.  No actual spoiler, but here is close to my final stat page before the DLC.

I always go with quality builds in souls games. Here is my DS3 stat page as well. I think this is right after my first run of DS3.

I'll be honest -- there aren't many bad weapons. I've played through the game a billion times and used most of them, and all of them have a unique enough move set and strengths that you're not fucked if you choose one over the other. I do remember Ludwig's blade being very good, but there are many you can't go wrong with.

I’d also say the Trick Cane or whatever the hell it’s called is probably the least forgiving weapon to start with. The other two are a bit more obvious in their utility.

It feels like a trap. Like, I ruled off SKL builds at the start because of that.

When I played my first time I used the cane.

A lot of players seem to find it unwieldy but I thought it was so fucking cool, I beat the game and all dungeons with it exclusively. I just had to go full Castlevania.

Also the jump attack has really high reach and is very useful for some bosses that are a bitch to reach due to their size and lock-on points.

I just wanted to play with the unpopular thing. Sometimes it's fun to go against the grain.

Sure, but you have to go in the DLC and find them in the world.

As far as I recall, you're greeted by some really aggressive, high-level hunters right off the bat when entering the DLC area as well. I don't remember where the Whirligig Saw is exactly so maybe you can suicide-run there just to get it.
