  1. So...killed the Blacksmith next to Darkroot. It was an accident and then a reaction. Here’s hoping by 6+ Claymore can carry me for a while until I work out what to do.
  2. I loved Doom so much, bar a few harder parts - it was a joy. I need to buy Eternal soon. I’ve played some more Dark Souls remastered (farming to get the Crest of Artorias) and some Rocket League. Playing the board game Pandemic later tonight so probably no more games until tomorrow.
  3. I’ve beaten Quelaag. No shame but I was going to use the summon Mildred...and noticed that there were some player summons available. Suffice to say, I took her on with three other characters which made me feel more like the weak kid that kicks someone on the ground after the bullies have done the hard work, but the boss is done! Now to get back to Firelink Shrine, level up some more, upgrade my Claymore and then I’m trying to decide between a return to Darkroot and the door, or Sen’s fortress.
  4. England back to full lockdown - including schools. I had a wonderful one day back teaching this year.
  5. I bought three months of Nintendo Online as I ended up with some money back from buying the Switch. I can’t say I’ve used it extensively but the SNES VC is decent, though I think I’m correct in saying you don’t need it for Rocket League (though if you do - it would be an essential).
  6. We watched the three part mini-series Black Narcissus. The BBC secures content that you could argue is the highest quality of any broadcaster. This series does not he’ll that argument. 3/10 - maybe a bit more - but it just didn’t work well.
  7. So, I have a good 7 books or so that I have available to read at the moment. After reading Troy however, I’ve decided to buy Homer’s Odyssey to read the first great work of Western writing - so that’s something. I was also impressed my Father in Law was reading a 1200 page Proust novel, so to compete I’ve bought War and Peace, which I didn’t realise was 1700+ pages. So that’ll be interesting to see if I can finish it, or you know, read it in general.
  8. As the ‘alternative’ they are doing fantastically well as everyone’s other console. I’d also hate to see the battery life on a handheld that’s on par with a PS5.
  9. Question for the board - which is the better game: Dark Souls Remastered or Demon’s Souls (PS5)?
  10. I’m a fan of physical media but I also tend to share with friends and trade in games a lot. There’s something almost annoying about completing a single player game (bought digitally) that I now have forever, but don’t want - RDR2, God of War and others are games I’m only interested in the once - but I went for convenience over my usual preference (mostly so I can buy at midnight and I can surprise my wife with a new game in the morning).
  11. Boring stuff really. Cardio for at least 90 minutes and strength 30 minutes per week. Aim to reduce the amount of printing that I do at work - a by-product of being more organised and working a bit more at school, to enjoy life a bit more outside of it. Pass my teacher probation year with satisfactory or good.
  12. I want to buy Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Spider-Man, Control and Doom Eternal on the PS4. On Switch, Luigi's Mansion 3, Fire Emblem, Smash, Astral Chain and a steady stream of Indie games to play. Also I would like a Pro Controller so I can play some games on the television without being hampered by the joy cons - which I neither hate nor love. Possibly Crash and Spyro as I’ve never played any of the games before and they’d suit handheld play.
  13. I'm sure that I’ve read the author has no interest in finishing the series. In the last 10 days I’ve finished 11.23.63, Mark. Plan. Teach, Troy and now on to Warriors of the Storm. Reading books is such a privilege and so wonderful I can’t understand why more people don’t make the time to read.
  14. I’ll ask her to reply later on.
  15. Speaking for my wife (and without asking her) it would be a tie between Ocarina of Time, Witcher 3 and Skyrim.
  16. Found a shortcut to get from the bonfire in the depths to the bottom, so at least the boss won’t be as bad as last time I played (and found no shortcut and gave up). Also more Rocket League which has hit the point now where I’m frequently playing people much better than I am - which happens every time I get back into it - proceeded by me uninstalling the game as it stops being fun. Update: that’s one dead Gaping Dragon thanks to realising you can have two summons and just spam fire and run and chop. Just had a look at Blighttown and was killed by a thing with a club, so I’ll give that more consideration later. Some time later: at the first bonfire in Blighttown and just wandering around, killing things and getting killed. There’s a barbarian and a ghoul at a cave that I’ve died at twice that I sense is the route I want to take, so I’ll give that a go later.
  17. Three dungeons down in Links Awakening, a +5 Claymore harvested to go to the Depths with and a few rounds of Rocket League under my belt. The Switch has really got me back into a gaming mood and I look forward to that inventive going back to the PS4. I am debating whether I want to buy a Switch Pro Controller for Dark Souls and maybe some future gaming.
  18. Soul: 9/10 - just what is needed at this time of the year and at this point in history.
  19. Mulan (2020): a good film, but never great. 6/10 Billy Elliot: a wonderful and overtly British movie. 8/10
  20. On to the 2nd dungeon. It’s strange that I did play Links Awakening DX back in the day, though never made it anywhere (I was about...8). I actually ended up nearly finishing the re-release on the 3DS, but then my 3DS died a death so I wouldn’t say it’s nostalgic for me, but certainly familiar. It’s also wonderful.
  21. With my wife’s side of the family we did a secret Santa. Along with some books I also received Links Awakening. So I’m set now for a few months!
  22. I really enjoy it. The only sad part is we haven’t been able to see by family since last Christmas, which has meant they still haven’t met my daughter, but I’m fortunate I really enjoy spending time with my wife’s family.
  23. They do look like the bees knees - though I find it hard to beat an OG chocolate chip cookie.
  24. I feel like a pleb saying this, but one of my favourite meals is reheated lasagne but then I like to put salad cream on the top of it. For those that haven’t indulged in salad cream, it’s like a thin mayonnaise but...tangy? If I told the people I know they’d look down on me.
