  1. Lol it’s been so long I can’t even remember what average/good/great opening weekend numbers were and what is considered those levels in a “post covid” theatrical world.
  2. Vacation Friends - 7.5/10 I really enjoyed it. It’s not really that laugh out loud funny. But the story is much better than I assumed. Def tropey but done really well. Cena is really coming into his own and hits not only the comedic notes but also a few nice dramatic ones as well. I def recommend it for anyone looking for a fun, feel good story.
  3. Oh it is?? I was under the impression he only agreed to do it if he was allowed to do it in two parts and that was a done deal. Not that part 1 had to do well for part 2 to be greenlit
  4. Without actually reading any of the reviews and only looking at headlines. Still super psyched. Sounds like he doesn’t contain the story as well as he should but once both movies can be viewed together itll be a full on epic. For people like my wife who haven’t read the book gonna be a frustrating experience though.
  5. I don’t watch much of the video content but I’m absolutely loving the new Bombcast lineup. They all play off each other extremely well. Hopefully Danny comes back to it soon. The two Jeff’s plus Danny and Jan is my favorite lineup.
  6. Oh agreed. There’s some really high quality YA stuff out there. Honestly when actually trying to think about it I’m not sure what really defines YA at this point. It seems like anything fantasy has been dumped into that category at this point. Like 90% of fantasy features a young protagonist haha. I guess I define it more as the style and complexity of the writing? To me YA are kind of meant to be easy pick up and reads that cap out closer to that 3/400 range with relatively easy vocabulary. When you get into stuff that’s 800 pages and you gotta look up words from time to time that isn’t YA. As far as content most fantasy tropes(like the ones you mentioned) are also YA tropes so yeah. In the end it doesn’t matter. YA shouldn’t have the stigma for lower quality that it does. so something looking YA simply because the main characters are teenagers and thus inherently means it’s not good doesn’t make sense to me. I feel like that was a rambling nonsensical post but whatever haha
  7. Sorta, I don’t think I’d classify the books as Young Adult simply because the writing is a better quality. But for a teaser that’s purpose is to show off the main cast(who are basically all teenagers) with no dialogue. Yeah I think that vibe is to be a bit expected. I just don’t don’t get the visuals comment. I don’t think it looked any better or worse than any other top tier fantasy show that’s come out. Especially since they didn’t really show of some of the more fantastical scenes/locations/characters. 🤷🏻‍♂️
  8. I dunno I think it looked fine for a teaser. Seemed like most of what they showed is from the beginning of book 1 which makes sense. I think when you cast young unknowns it’s always gonna give a bit of a “young adult” vibe until you really get into the show and can see the performances. The locations itself I thought fit. I mean it’s a teaser so it’s meant to appeal to a pretty broad audience. So showing some sweeping landscape shots a la LotR makes sense. And honestly the world itself isn’t really that remarkable until you get deeper into the story/things you wouldn’t show in a teaser. I know they said they’re going to adapt the whole story and not just go linear through the books. As someone who hasn’t read all the books plus I’m curious how far into the story they’re going to pull, what’s the furthest into the story you saw from that? I def saw some stuff from close to the middle of book 2. Anyone see anything from further on?
  9. What repercussions did you want? That would have been such a cliche path for them to take. They drop a sponsor and find a new one. It’s well established how wealthy Rebecca is so finances in the short term doesn’t need to be a story. Maybe they will be in the long run. There was that line early in the season about a Champion team paying Premier salaries. But personally I’m glad that sponsor thing didn’t drag out. Sponsor sucks. They took a stand and dropped them. End of story.
  10. I’m just hear to remind everyone that Lords of Shadow was a great fucking game and was an infinitely better God of War than God of War. carry on.
  11. I was just at Disney a couple weeks ago. Ride is still super fun and you don’t even really notice the changes. I know some purists will get all bent outta shape when they inevitably add stuff from the movie but I like when they do stuff like that. Better to alter the rides slightly to keep them fresh than remove them completely like Universal does. I actually really like the Jack Sparrow and Barbosa stuff in Pirates 🤷🏻‍♂️
  12. I thought it was way more of a Mummy rehash than Pirates but yeah basically. And agreed on the love interest thing. I think he and Emily Blunt has fantastic chemistry as far as bickering with each other. But none of that translated to any kind of sexual tension. Only movie I remember Rock having a natural feeling love interest was Walking Tall.
  13. That exact situation is why I think the video game/tech industry is as toxic as it is
  14. Jungle Cruise - 8/10 - It’s exactly what you think it is. But I love the “Adventure Movie with Strong, Smart, Guarded Female+Handsome, Brash, Troubled Past Guy+Diminutive, Scene Stealing, Funny Third Wheel+Sexy Foreign Villian Who Speaks Little to No English” Genre
  15. I feel like it’s only recently I’ve heard a very small group of people go “yikes” over the Tropic Thunder thing, and as far as I know they’ve all been white. I don’t ever remember any kind of outrage or offense over that character. I think because it was so well done and accurate. To me it’s in the same class as Mel Brooks films. Everyone agrees that Blazing Saddles probably couldn’t be made today. But at the same time I’ve never heard anyone trying to call out Brooks for being tasteless or racist.
  16. I’m actually pretty excited for this Call of Duty. See what you want about the game but it’s campaigns are always entertaining in a fantastic Prime Michael Bay kinda way.
  17. Anyone check it out? Watched it tonight and really enjoyed it. The combat never quite reaches the heights of Castlevania and it doesn’t have much of the charm present in Geralts stories. But it’s still a lot of fun and it’s cool to kinda see how Vesimir came to be the teacher that he is and how the Witcher’s came to be in the state of decline they’re in during Geralts rise.
  18. I literally just watched Wrath of Man on the plane two days ago 😂😂😂
