  1. Replace every drop of that man’s bodily fluids with the local tap water and keep doing that with every one of his successors on a weekly basis until the problem is fixed.
  2. Awful. Given his constant health problems I always imagined it was only a matter of time, but still so sad to hear.
  3. Probably scrambled eggs. There are enough varieties in terms of preparation/condiments that you would have a decent enough variety to never truly hate it.
  4. I’ll be interested to check this out. I love System Shock 2, one of my favorite games of all time, but checking out the original system shock is much harder. It’s like ARMA but clunkier. Do you want to be standing, leaning, on tip toes, slightly hunched, kneeling, fully prone? If I remember right it did t even have traditional mouse aim yet, if you wanted mouse aim you needed to toggle between aiming mode and using the UI mode and if you got caught off guard good luck. The descent style 3D cyberspace levels, the endless sudden traps and bullet sponges enemies, it’s all ripe for change. If they can capture the vibe but not make it feel like homework, I’ll be pleased.
  5. GB and other podcasts have discussed this sort of thing already, it doesn’t serve either audience for them to talk about these things in any length. A general audience doesn’t want or need constant GTA online updates unless it’s particularly weird, and people who want discussion of GTA online don’t want to hear all about Stray or Rollerdrome. You do a bad job of catering to either audience. People who are really into things like Star Citizen, GTA, Roblox, Fortnite, Minecraft, whatever can find dedicated podcasts and sites that cater to what they want and the generalists can stay the generalists.
  6. Dude, I’m not some mouth breathing pleb slapping together bisquick. I’ve made pancakes more than any other food outside of scrambled eggs. I’m also not using a hydraulic press to load my four into the cup. I know by sight and feel what the proper texture for the batter is, if it’s too pasty I thin it out with more milk, if it’s too runny I add a little more flour. My point is if your flour is a smidge high or low you’re still getting pancakes unlike an angel food cake where if your flour is off you’re getting either a soufflé or an inedible brick.
  7. Measuring flour by the cup is perfectly fine for stuff like pancakes and waffles, it’s not something like croissant which requires precision.
  8. There’s too much bullshit on that. There should be exactly two things on chicken and waffles; maple syrup and hot sauce.
  9. I’m still floored by the fact that the average age for a CW viewer is 58.
  10. Before she retired my old supervisor got her first set of hearing aids. They were expensive as hell but had all sorts of features like Bluetooth integration for phone calls and such. She could set the volume on her phone so whenever she just didn’t want to hear people she could just mute out the world. I’d never been jealous of hearing loss before…
  11. I finished it about a week ago. It's good, they did about as well as they could all things considered. There are big changes and small changes, some of which I understand and some of which I don't. Personally I didn't care for how the speech to the collectors went, mostly because the original was probably my favorite comic moment of all time and because this one lacks the more sinister edge to it. I think it fails for the same reason a lot of these adaptations fail, The Sandman like all truly excellent comics works because it is a comic and understands that. The world it creates, the way it tells its story, all of it is so intrinsically tied to being a paper book that you lose so much by changing the medium. Panels blend together, individual cells form mosaics, ethereal objects don't look like props, etc. To make matters worse, it's been such an influential work for so long that people have borrowed, stolen, and ripped off so much of it on the margins that it's just old hat for movies and TV now to some extent. The worst thing you can say about the show is that the original comic is a landmark work in the medium, and the show is pretty good TV.
  12. That’s not true for most people. A steam deck is running a weird OS and requires constant manual tinkering to get things to run. They’re not even comparable to the average consumer.
