  1. I'm playing Maneater because it looked like dumb fun and Sony saved me from having to actually buying it. I'm glad to have played this through Plus as I would have regretted purchasing it at $20 or $30. The combat is a janky mess and the lack of a proper lock-on makes it all the worse. Plus, it kinda revealed all its cards at the beginning of the game and its gimmick is wearing out quickly. I'm still chopping away at it, but I'm unsure as to how much more time I really want to invest in it.
  2. I feel like they should just release it in whatever state it's in with its source code to allow people to do what they want with it. Better to sell it for a small fee than make absolutely nothing off of it. Edit: They could also just rename it, make up some pretend game studio based in Europe and sell it as being made by a new AA developer. People would probably worship the game, no matter how janky it is.
  3. A company called HPI sold a controller for it that was a N64 knockoff. The Nuon had a number of different controllers. Even Logitech made one for it. I've heard quite a few of the Nuon controllers are now failing though and you cannot really repair them as what's failing is the proprietary chip Nuon controllers use. The Nuon used a proprietary chip in its controller making repos impossible. Apparently one person bought all the chips and made a controller PCB board at one time. Some made spinners for Tempest 3000 with it. The guy said back in December he was going to make a new round of boards, but it's been crickets since. I'm really hoping he does and I have no controller for mine. I'd love to build a spinner controller for T3K as I know it's considered one of the best if not the best edition. Tempest 4000 actually uses some of the gameplay elements from T3K and even some of its soundtrack. Shame fake Atari is such an ass to Jeff Minter and T3K will never see the day of light elsewhere.
  4. I felt like a god when I was the first one amongst my friends to beat that game. I'm not sure if I can handle going through another one, but damnit, that game is addicting.
  5. Played the demo for a bit tonight and found the shooting mechanics quite enjoyable. It's like Gears, but the shooting feels as if it has a bit of a twitch element which is great for players like myself who like to run in guns blazing sometimes. Art direction really didn't do anything for me as it felt fairly generic, but I'm curious to play more.
  6. Had no idea Absolver did well enough for them to have the ability to make another martial arts based game.
  7. I didn't think anybody would actually have any interest in ordering it given how rare Nuon players are. 😂 Yeah, it's a continuation of the Jaguar series. Iron Solider 3 also had a PS1 release. The Nuon on edition is the same game, but with 3D accelerated graphics. The Nuon edition is quite rare as it had a bug in it that affected certain models of Nuon enabled DVD players, so the game was recalled and pulled from store shelves. That's what makes this release somewhat special as it's a new opportunity to get it. The bug is still present in this release. The creators of the Nuon platform were actually the designers of the Jaguar. The Nuon was at one point supposed to be the follow-up to the Jaguar. It still has some of its Atari roots too as the music visualizer in it was Jeff Minters VLM and it's the only platform to ever see Tempest 3000. Another game on it, Merlin Racing, was basically the unofficial sequel to Atari Karts on the Jaguar too. Yeah, if my memory is correct, a whole 12 games were ever made for it. The only release from that era I personally own is Tempest 3000 as that was basically my only reason I even wanted a Nuon DVD player in the first place.
  8. Songbird Prodictions had the crazy idea to do an official reprint of one of the rarest Nuon games for the world's most obscure gaming platform. You might want to reconsider calling 2020 the strangest year ever. If you happen to own a Nuon and want a copy, this is a one time deal, and once it's gone, it's gone forever.
  9. Fuck, I knew I should have waited. Ah well, with as popular as this game will be, I'll probably be able to get it cheap on the used market in no time.
  10. I'm all over this. I loved PSVR as a concept, but it was just too much to use all the time. I don't regret buying it, but I'm looking forward to having something better.
  11. I wouldn't worry about it. With all three companies being sued over it, you can bet replacement programs will be put into place at some point to address it along with your check in the mail for $0.36
  12. That would be amazing, it's the first arcade game I fell in love with and played to death on the Colecovision. I was tempted by that Dragons Lair one, but as unique as that game may be for its time in history, it's just not something I really care to play.
  13. Those mini arcade cabs are so amazing looking. If they ever happened to make a Mr. Do one, I'd be all over it.
  14. Claims J. K. Rowling isn't apart of the development of this game yet hires a lead designer who is essentially J. K. Rowling in another body.
  15. Tokyo Xanadu for the Vita because I have absolutely no idea why a friend of mine thinks the game is amazing. I thought it would be nice to take my Vita out of retirement for a bit, but this game defines generic.
  16. I'll have to check this out later, Epyx is the company everybody knows for their games series, but so little seem to know for how innovative they were behind the scenes. I'll always have a soft spot for them beging they designed the Atari Lynx.
  17. Shout out to the Sony CS rep I called the other week after some warehouse worker mailed me a refurbished PS5 loosely wrapped in bubble wrap and informed me they'd be filing a complaint on my behalf. I'm pretty sure they mailed me a brand-new one this time. It was in its retail box without the outer artwork shell or accessories. Upon booting it up, I couldn't even hear the fan spinning when it was in the main menu and the disc drive on this one is more around the volume of the drive in my PS4. Astrobot, you had to stick your ear up to the console to hear a faint buzz, and Descenders, which has a title screen with an uncapped frame rate, causing my prior consoles to sound like a steam kettle going off doesn't make a sound on this unit. This surprised me the most. Relieved to finally have a PS5 again, but I do wish I had a way to give the CS rep I spoke with positive feedback for putting in the effort to ensure was shipped properly. On a side note, my original PS5 was made in September, and my first replacement was made in November. Both of those had a strong coil whine. I replaced it originally because my launch model kept having graphical artifacts and crashed constantly. The one I received from Sony today was made in December. Kinda curious to learn if Sony is using a different disc drive now as it's a pretty drastic change in decibels from my original.
  18. After waiting an eternity, SoFi sent me an email stating they will not be approving my account. I sent them a freaking utility bill, what more do they need? Any other apps out there worth looking into? I'm not sure if I want to go through the effort of calling them to figure out what on earth confused them.
  19. It seems like a decent game and I have heard it scales incredibly well to level the playing field more than a lot of online shooters, but I've always been an instagib person at heart. It's literally how I always played shooters online back in the day as I loved the frantic nature of one shot kills. It's just not something I can get out of modern shooters as more tactical roles have grown in popularity. Not that it's a bad thing, I loved me some Counter Strike with friends. I still love shooters, I just mostly play them offline.
  20. Never bothered with Overwatch myself as well. I'm trash at modern online shooters. I yearn for a return to twitch shooters like Unreal Tournament and Quake 3 Arena. I'd love to hop back into some frantic instagib matches. Warcraft 3 did come to mind, but I'm trying to think positive about this one. This is the remaster everybody has been begging for, it would be nuts if they fucked this one up. Just hoping it gets the love and care Activision gave to games like Crash as well as Spyro.
  21. It would be suicide to release a new Diablo with the D2 remaster on the way. I'd give Blizzard all the time they want to work on DIV as D2 is going to be massively popular. Nobody is going to be clamoring for a new entry in the franchise for a while with that out.
  22. Stadia Reddit is on full on freakout mode over this. Everybody saw this coming expect for them. I knew this was happening real soon when Google started giving away Stadia kits for free to paid subscribers of YouTube. I'm very curious as to what will happen to the customers who purchased games from this as this will be the first instance of a games streaming service shutting down that sold games. Prior to this, it's all been subscription based. Hope the crew over at Typhoon lives on in some capacity. Journey to the Savage Planet was a fantastic first outing for a startup games studio.
