  1. I bet the already terrible latency is going to feel wonderful over forced wifi!
  2. It's worth it in War Mode alone just for the PvP abilities that you can also use in PvE. But I also love world PvP. It's been a lot of fun fighting people in the world again!
  3. I've really been enjoying this expansion. It's kind of a bummer there's not really any new abilities or talent points, but I'm loving the concept of Azerite gear as this customizable replacement of sorts. It makes gear interesting again. I hate gear that's just stats or very little flavor. All the stuff Engel was complaining about is true I guess, you totally have to go to a mailbox to check mail (or use your MOLL-E) so I guess that could... bother someone? You also do have to use the auction house to use the auction house. This is all true. But uhh, I consider that extremely minor side shit. That said, Path of Fire is a great expansion for GW2, and I thoroughly enjoyed most of it. But it didn't really have any staying power for me. I love the concept of an MMO without the trinity, but I feel like the combat itself just never got to a level I could really, truly love for the long-term. The mount stuff was a ton of fun, though! Weirdly, I still think WoW has what is easily the best actual combat in a "normal" MMO, that is to say an MMO that isn't some shitty Korean grindfest where literally the only thing the game has going for it is the combat. I feel like you get into something like TERA, and the combat's a lot of fun, but the game overall is just a steaming pile of generic shit. Meanwhile, these new BfA zones have killing fucking mood and atmosphere. I'm just loving the design in this expansion. It's a big step up from the green Legion stuff.
  4. You gotta know when to cut your losses and change up how you play for your personal enjoyment rather than some false sense of accomplishment. It's much better for your gaming experience and I'd imagine at least slightly for your mental health! Torturing yourself just because is bad!
  5. I hope you're joking. "THERE'S TOO MUCH SHIT TO COLLECT" "So don't collect it." "BUT I NEED TO FOR A VIDEO" "Watch it on a site made for videos." "BUT I NEED TO UNLOCK IT MYSELF" Why? WHY?! You just said unlocking it sucked! You have to be doing a bit!
  6. The performance issues sounded like they could be troublesome. This is more of a combat game than an exploration game, so precise timing isn't optional. They said they're working on it, though. So hopefully they get it ironed out.
  7. Origins had a lot of content, but as I understand it, the main story was actually relatively middling for length. I assume this guy's talking about the main story, and not just side content.
  8. Streaming simply can't overcome the physical limitations of the internet without some sort of significant breakthrough, I think. It becomes bearable when you're close enough to a data center to minimize input lag, but you'd need a LOT of data centers all over the world to make it viable. Even just something like "West Coast, Midwest and East Coast" for the US alone would not suffice. But I guess it also depends on how much your average gamer notices input lag. You folks who like to go "Man I can't even tell the difference between 22 and 180 FPS!" are going to be tasting your own medicine when Jimmy Fugma brags about not being able to tell the difference between local play and a 200ms delay with artifacting from compression!
  9. That's a really weird and arbitrary line to draw. They were fully-fledged Final Fantasy games with Final Fantasy stories and characters. I mean, I could get on board with this if we also agreed that if they're not turn-based they also have to be spinoffs.
  10. First game ran like a goddamn dream. Second one ran like shit. I have no problem with this. I hate regression. Second one may have been great, but its performance was so bad I never bothered to find out. I've got plenty of games to where I don't need to sit down and fuck with one for hours to get it running semi-acceptably anymore.
  11. Rockstar definitely makes really detailed, shitty open worlds with nothing to do in them. I'd say CDPR, but we've only seen one open world game from them.
  12. The idea of that big ass (in relative terms) screen with that awful resolution in VR strikes me as a sort of nightmare VR scenario. It'd have to be super basic stuff, I think. Probably just vestigial testing.
  13. How the fuck do you even wind up in a situation where plagiarism for a goddamn video game review video is even necessary? I write like 30+ pages of opinion for every game I play, and that's to people who don't even want to read it! The words flow like water! Just say what you think about the game! It's so easy! Although if I were to do videos I'd probably have to hire an entire team of editors to trim down the bullshit I type up so every video wouldn't be 4 hours long.
  14. Nah, the ranged classes and insect glaive would be vastly superior with proper KB&M controls. They're clunky as fuck on controller. Also, any slinger usage would be much easier, and a well-timed sling can dictate the outcome of a hunt on occasion. The rest of the classes are great on a gamepad, though.
  15. I would agree if it wasn't slathered over every inch of every scene. It's like someone left a fog machine on for the entire game.
  16. The funny thing about the shitty haze setting is that it's extremely taxing on resources for some reason, AND it makes the game look like shit. They just slathered the game in it. Turning it off completely is like an 80% image quality improvement and a 10-15% FPS improvement. Based on what Lucian said, it looks like it was left in the console version to cover up bad texture pop-in, which I imagine you'd see more of on lower settings. Why they made it such an expensive setting I have no idea. I bet if they turned it off on consoles they'd get a steady 30 FPS easy.
  17. This pretty solidly puts future MH titles into a "lock" status on Steam. I had noticed these numbers last night because all the lobbies seemed extremely packed, a fact I don't remember from the PS4 version. (Although that version had server issues at launch. It sold more than fine on the PS4 obviously.) This fucking version is night and day from the console one. It might be one of the bigger differences I've seen in a while. When you hit ready to depart, it makes the "Ready!" ding instantly, and you can immediately just go out to the hunt. As soon as that little animation of you taking off ends, you're just in the fucking mission. Joining friends is SOOOO fast. MHW on PS4 had so much loading, it was ridiculous. The game feels so much faster as a comparison. And that's not to mention the frame rate, which is so damned buttery smooth. And the lack of the blurriness that made it look like ass, and the lack of that shitty haze that covered the entire game (I disabled that fog first thing and the game looks so much better without it) and god, it's just night and day. The KB&M controls could use a patch or two (if they fix it up, it could make ranged classes more fun and responsive, especially body part aiming with the insect glaive) but other than that, it's a damn fine port and well worth the cashola.
  18. Almost none of them. I barely even finish any, let alone replay them.
  19. I have a hard time believing this will be any sort of serious competition for a good, long while. But I hope it is. More actual competition as opposed to just another shitty fucking launcher is a good thing. These publisher-based launchers are getting out of hand and add zero value over Steam, often being far worse. Discord also isn't adding anything of value yet, and I'm not sure they'll be able to. But I'm interested to see what they try.
  20. I'll use my pre-order beta code and probably get more than enough out of the game. Especially since it'll be on some shitty ass Bethesda launcher I'll probably forget I even have.
  21. It's not a word. It's an initialism. You can pronounce it as a word (as though it were an acronym) but that just means you're a lazy fucking slob.
