Yep, first timer here...the only episode I had seen before this was an early season 1 episode where the team goes on a mission in a jungle & run into Bane. I had my comic book nose in the air at the time & thought "nah, this is dumb". But watching it now, I see that the show is very seralized, and I love that. Watching the team from the very beginning actually gets me invested in the characters and their arcs, so I'm enjoying this a lot.

I just finally got around to watching this on digital...I have to say, even watching it at home, when the theme flared we jumped off the couch & were yelling at the TV...the kids said we looked insane They're too young to give a shit about Rocky right now, but their Mom & I...ooooh yes I have to agree, it might be my favorite moment from any 2018 film! The first Creed had a better story, but I actually loved Creed 2. An actual sequel to Rocky IV? Fuuuuuck, yes!

I have never seen 1 or 2, but my girl & the kids LOVE them so I took them all to a screening on February 2nd. I didn't feel the first two films were essential to understand the 3rd So you should be good without watching the tv stuff. The Hidden World was lots of fun though. I look forward to finally sitting down to watch the other two.

My biggest issue with the ios app is it won't let me watch DC Daily. Every time I try to watch it on my phone, it tells me I have to subscribe to DC Universe even though I'm obviously subscribed lol And the comics don't always download. But yeah, on my tv, it's been fantastic. Well worth the $8 I pay each month.

I can't get a screenshot at the moment, but Will Smith posted on twitter today that he will indeed be blue, and almost entirely CGI. The look from the picture is his "human disguise" form. Edit: here's a link: https://mobile.twitter.com/17thomascrown/status/1075401327084216321

Movies Aquaman (12/21/18) - Tomatometer Watch
TheRealSmallville replied to Pikachu's topic in The Performing Arts Centre
Brief non-spoiler thoughts: I saw this Saturday night at an Amazon Prime showing. It's a BLAST. I'd put it about on par with Wonder Woman, but with a much better 3rd act. Momoa is charming, Heard is perfect as Mera (she was my favorite part of the movie), and Patrick Wilson's Orm was a great villain. Black Manta looked awesome, but he was the only spot where I had some minor nitpicks. All in all, a damn fun time at the movies. Action packed, funny, and a bit of an underwater "Star Wars meets LotR" kind of feel. James Wan was left alone by WB to do his thing, and he swung for the fences and gave us something pretty great. Man of Steel is still my personal favorite DCEU film (this is where I lose 90% of you ), but like I said - this is on par with WW and has a better 3rd act. Give it a shot, there is definitely some life left in this universe. Great starting point to rebuild after Justice League. -

I use my X1S for 4K movies & bluray...not even sure the last time I put a game disc in. Been pretty much digital for the last 4 years. Cool concept for anyone who doesn't want it for a (disk) movie player though.

Movies Are You Ready For Gladiator 2?
TheRealSmallville replied to skillzdadirecta's topic in The Performing Arts Centre
I would have preferred a lot of things be different about Covenant, but since he started telling a story I just want to see it finished. I hate having a hole there between the prequels and Alien. He can make it "David Takes Manhattan" if he wants to, I just want to know how eggs end up on a ship with a pilot of a race that shouldn't know about them after certain events lol -

Minority opinion: I'd much rather see him complete the Prometheus-Covenant-Awakening story. Yeah yeah, stupid biologists and plot holes, but I wanna see how those eggs got on the derelict with the Space Jockey -
I'd agree with Jurassic Park. The book spends a long time on the "science" of the park...a looooong time...before it really gets to anything interesting. There were a few action sequences in the book that I wish had been in the movie, but they ended up recycled into the sequels so it's not a big deal and JP is paced better the way Spielberg did it. And not like it's a classic or anything, but the film version of "Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey" blows the book out of the water

At Worlds End is my favorite in the series. I actually enjoy 4 quite a bit, it's a step down from the first three and it sorely lacked ships on the water, but I got quite a kick out of it. In 5, it seemed like they made Sparrow an absolute idiot. Like, low-IQ dumb. He always got out of jams with a lot of luck and a little bit of planning in the first 4 movies, and you always knew he was smarter than he appeared, but in 5 he's a downright imbecile. I hated 5, with exception to the wonderful Geoffrey Rush. That guy could read the ABC's in Barbosa's voice and I'd be captivated for hours.

I live an hour away from Spokane, Wa, and before this I lived in the city for 5 years. I can tell you, the intelligence level you're dealing with in that city is...well let's just say it's not high lol I haven't seen the doc, so it's good to hear that some suspected...but yeah, Spokane gonna Spokane. Neat little city otherwise tho!

I never knew this was a thing. Or a thing in development, I guess. I'm a sucker for games that use the actors' real faces So I'm automatically intrigued. What is this about spending real money for ships though? Is that just a pay-to-win feature in the game, and you can just play with no money and grind? I'll have to keep an eye on it. Been looking for a reason to get a gaming PC.

Comics Anyone cosplay?
TheRealSmallville replied to cusideabelincoln's topic in The Performing Arts Centre
We go to a local Con here every year and do cosplay. This year I was a bomb damaged Clark Kent (suit & tie that had partially burned away to reveal the Superman suit underneath) and the Mrs went as the Martha Wayne Joker from Flashpoint. Our oldest was Alice Angel from Bendy & the Ink Machine, and the youngest was Miraculous Ladybug. The ladybug outfit was the only one we bought. We literally bought pieces of clothing from here and there and built the costumes from scratch. In our experience, we've found you get the best results if you build what you want from scratch rather than buying a premade costume from Rubies or something. Granted, not everybody can make certain things, like a Batman cowl, so you still gotta buy some stuff. But you can get pretty far with a little imagination, and it's very rewarding to be complimented on something you made yourself. -
She's done a great job with the property, so yeah I'm not surprised at the extension. Fanboys gonna fanboy though. I think it just comes down to insurmountable expectations for some...the OT was such a landmark thing not only for cinema but for many (now) adult film fans, so when new stuff comes out it will never "live up to the legacy" no matter how good it might be. It's like Christopher Reeve and Superman...no matter who plays the role nor how well, some fanboys will hate it because "only Reeve can play it". Some people treat Star Wars the same.
