About Me

  1. Can't even make this stuff up. DC Comics reduces Latinos to their food in Hispanic Heritage Month covers, fans say WWW.NPR.ORG Latino comic book fans have taken to social media to call out DC Comics' latest attempt at appealing to their Latino fans. Art shows DC superheroes holding or eating a variety of Latin American foods. Let's take this awesome picture... ...but to make him more Mexican, let's give him a bag of tamales...

  5. George Perez revelaed that he has terminal cancer and retired from comics recently. This rerelease will benefit his family. Such a fun comic and a worthy cause... I'll definitely buy it again despite owning all of the original issues JLA/Avengers Crossover Returns to Print to Benefit Artist George Perez - IGN WWW.IGN.COM After falling out of print for years, JLA/Avengers is finally being rereleased, with proceeds going to benefit artist George Pérez in his battle with terminal cancer. Marvel and DC haven't collaborated in such a long time which is weird given how popular thease characters are today. They reallsy should think about doing another crossover in comics and live action.
  6. For the last few weeks, the Comixology app posted a notification informing users that the legacy app would be retiring in favor of one that completes the integration of Comixology with the overall Amazon/Kindle ecosystem. That integration happened last week and it's been an unmitigated disaster on every level possible. The new app has SIGNIFICANTLY less features/functionality the the old one. - Wish Lists? Gone. - Smart Lists? Gone. - Enhanced Library Functions (like Archiving)? Gone. - Ease of seeing what's on sale? Gone. - Subscriptions for non-US readers? Gone, and existing subscriptions being cancelled without notice - Many user-friendly/quality of life features? Gone. Gone Gone. You get the picture, but don't take my word for it - take a gander at its general reception from the press (and Patton Oswalt): Opinion: Comixology's New Update Takes All the Fun Out of Reading Digital Comics - IGN WWW.IGN.COM Comixology recently rolled out Version 4.0 of its digital comics service, and the results are anything but pretty. We break down why this upgrade is such a major step back, and why Comixology's misstep is bad for the industry as a whole. Amazon's Comixology Overhaul Is Here, and It Sucks GIZMODO.COM After years of relative independence, Amazon's closer integration of Comixology comes with lost features, bad storefronts, and a truly woeful browser reader. Amazon's Comixology migration is a disaster - here's what you need to know | AppleInsider APPLEINSIDER.COM Comixology is migrating users to a new app that brings all the good and bad features of Amazon Kindle with it. Here's everything you need to know about the migration. Amazon's Buggy ComiXology Overhaul Slammed by Comic Creators and Readers WWW.CBR.COM The lack of a decent digital reader and a confusing new interface are chief among the complaints lodged against ComiXology. Comic Readers Outraged Over Comixology's Amazon Change SCREENRANT.COM Amazon isn't doing comic fans any favors... The new comiXology app is just Kindle Comics, for better and (much) worse. WWW.COMICSBEAT.COM If you are considering updating to the new app at the insistence of comiXology. Don't. Just don't. Keep the old one as long as you are able. Amazon’s ComiXology update has users justifiably upset BAMSMACKPOW.COM The new updates to ComiXology may cause the app and Amazon hundreds of subscribers. ComiXology has been the leader in digital comics for years. It’s not ... Patton Oswalt Vs ComiXology And The App Update (Bleeding Cool) Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera... The new Comixology app is so very terrible in its current state that I honestly don't think I'm going too far out on a limb to suggest that it could potentially impact the comics industry as a whole if not rectified in relatively short order (and if there's one entertainment industry that can ill afford to take anymore knocks, it's THAT one!). I can honestly imagine the major publishers putting some heat on Amazon to "fix this shit NOW!" Here's the kicker for me: the app instantly crashes whenever I try to open it on my Kindle Fire tablet and I'm definitely not the only person that's happening to based on comments on the Kindle App Store. In other words, an app developed by Amazon is instantly crashing on an Amazon tablet. Fantastic QC there, guys! This debacle pretty much made my mind up to transition out of the Amazon ecosystem as much as possible. The price increase in Amazon Prime already had me on the fence as to whether or not to renew my membership seeing as how I really don't purchase that much in the way of physical goods from Amazon, but this Comixology nonsense has pushed me over into the "cancel Prime" side and to attempt to reduce my overall exposure to this nauseating company.
  7. Rob Liefeld Launching Comic ‘The Defiants’ as NFT WWW.HOLLYWOODREPORTER.COM The 'Deadpool' writer and artist plans the book to be one of four titles in a new universe. Will the drawing of feet be an entirely separate NFT? Does each pouch get its own NFT?
  8. GODZILLA VS POWER RANGERS Godzilla vs. The Mighty Morphin Powers Rangers: The Comic Book Crossover We Never Knew We Needed - IGN WWW.IGN.COM We don't know why it took this long, but the Power Rangers are finally going to fight Godzilla in 2022. Find out what to expect when these two pop culture icons collide in BOOM! Studios and IDW Publishing's Godzilla vs. The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. I was a little too old to really get into The Power Rangers when they came out but my little brother loved them and I would always compare them to Godzilla and the Shogun Warriors. I'm really interested in this because of the artist who has done other crosseovers like Masters of the Universe vs Thundercats and Batman and the Teen Aged Mutant Ninja Turtles. Got my eye on this.
  9. At least his son is... Exclusive: DC's New Superman Jon Kent Comes Out as Bisexual - IGN WWW.IGN.COM The LGBTQ community in the DC Universe is gaining a powerful new member. The new Man of Steel, Jon Kent, is now coming out as bisexual in the upcoming Superman: Son of Kal-El #5. For the record Tim Drake, the Third Robin also came out as bi-sexual recently as well. Tim Drake’s Robin Comes Out as Bisexual in New Batman Comic Book VARIETY.COM Robin comes out as bisexual in a new Batman comic. Nerd rage meltdown in 3, 2...
  10. DC Characters Are Coming to Webcomics Through Deal With Webtoon VARIETY.COM DC characters will be featured in several upcoming webcomics series, through a new deal between WarnerMedia's DC and Webtoon. Looks like DC is going to work on some new series from their existing properties that they'll distribute through Webtoons. If you aren't familiar with Webtoons, it's got to be the biggest dedicated digital comic distributor out there. Their user base is some 100 million readers, many of whom are actually willing to pay for individual chapters. I can't think of anyone with a larger reader base outside of probably like Amazon, Apple, and Google. They mainly deal with indie comics, Japanese manga, and Korean manhwa. I think their most high profile franchise was a great Star Wars comic that ran a number of years back that Disney has since pulled from the platform. That said, they've had some breakout hits, some of which have received anime adaptation like Tower of God on Crunchyroll or live action series like Sweet Home on Netflix. It'll be interesting to see how far this goes. Webtoons and their vertical scrolling comics is easily the best way to read comics on a mobile device. Some of my favorites comics are the ones that make great use of the verticality like Hellper or Gosu. I'll keep an eye out for these when they start to land.
  11. Comic Book Writers and Artists Follow Other Creators to Substack - The New York Times WWW.NYTIMES.COM A group of creators will publish new comic book stories, essays and how-to guides on the platform as a way to connect directly with fans.
  12. Fantastic Four's Movie Was So Bad, Marvel Blew Up The Actors In A Punisher Comic SCREENRANT.COM The fate of the Fant4stic, confirmed.
  13. Black Panther Writer Ta-Nehisi Coates Wants Better for Creators GIZMODO.COM Though Black Panther's Ta-Nehisi Coates is shifting to a Superman film as his next project, his love for comics runs deep, and his passion for the art form makes him want better for the other creators working in the space. Not sure how it could be done but I would love to see writers/creators get something more then what they currently do.
  14. Huh - this is the first time I'm learning about this! Half-Life comic A Place in the West releases new chapter | PC Gamer WWW.PCGAMER.COM The seventh chapter of the long-running officially licensed Half-Life comic is now available.
  15. While I'm not a huge comics fan by any stretch, I still check in with the medium from time to time to see if there's anything upcoming that I could potentially be interested in. A couple of days ago, I stumbled upon an article that details all the upcoming Batman-related releases and HOLY CHARACTER SATURATION, DC! I mean, I certainly was aware that DC leaned heavily on the Caped Crusader, but I had no freakin' idea that the dependence was THAT significant! All the new Batman comics, graphic novels, collections from DC | GamesRadar+ WWW.GAMESRADAR.COM DC's Dark Knight is busy! Check out all the upcoming Batman comics on the horizon It's worth noting that these are releases that feature Batman himself and NOT the extended Bat Family (Nightwing, Batgirl, etc.). If we include those titles, then the Bat Family easily accounts for at least 60% of DC's total output. As DC has previously announced that it will be reducing its overall number of titles to concentrate on "core" characters, I can only imagine that this disproportionality is only gonna get worse!
  16. Discussing his New Project "The Show" and his Disadain For Comic Book Movies
  17. OF COURSE THEY'RE STARTING WITH THE BLOODY ULTRAMARINES The grim darkness of Warhammer 40,000 comes to Marvel Comics this October!
  18. Great video... this is pretty much the direction DC is going in and I approve. It's ALL canon.
  19. I stopped reading Batman after Death of the family and bits of rebirth. Is there a story arc I should look into before 3 jokers? i can’t afford too many books but also DC prices aren’t what the used to be ($3 for supes and WW then a month later $2, then Batman was $4 to $3 a month later)
