Stubbs the Zombie is the most underrated sixth generation console game and I want a sequel

Really though, what 6th or 7th gen (XBOX/PS2/GCN, X360/PS3/Wii) games do you feel as though are ridiculously underrated and wish you could resurrect with a well-deserved sequel?

Stubbs was just a butt-load of fun and never took itself too seriously. Slowing gaining more and more "zombie powers" and being able to slowly create an army of NPC zombies to fight the police/military (that could also create more zombies) in each level was just beyond fun.

Stubbs were freakin' fantastic because it was tongue-in-cheek.  There really aren't enough light-hearted games of that type in this generation where practically everything is SEROUS BUSINESS because games are art or some shit like that.

Others that I adored from that generation:

- Armed & Dangerous

- Psi-Ops

Another game that I want to see a modern version of is Full Spectrum Warrior.

Good one!

(Another one) Not really a great game due to some issues, but a modern version could be pretty amazing if they add actual lock-on mechanics and especially due to having online play: Bloodwake. The biggest issue was that, originally, the OG XBOX was supposed to launch with online intact (it was going to work like how it does on PC gaming, but then MS decided to build an actual service with XBL and canned the original idea; every launch game, even Oddworld, had some type of online component originally), but, because MS changed it up, it only had local multiplayer. The other issue was that machine guns/basic weapons didn't lock-on to other boats and you couldn't aim (it just fired straight out from the gun), so, because you're on the water, it was damned near impossible to hit targets since your boat would constantly be tilting due to waves and such and you had to rely on secondary weapons with limited ammo.

Crimson Skies comes to mind as well (I'm absolutely shocked it never got a modern sequel)

Absolute concurrence from me on that one!

Pandora Tomorrow's Spies vs Mercs was a masterclass in asymmetrical multiplayer done right!

I think it helps that the maps were so good; I could still tell you the best paths to take as a spy in the theatre, or as a merc where to look for them in the hospital.

I agree with this wholeheartedly, and badly pine for more middle-budget experiments with simple and fun mechanics.  Agree about most of the games mentioned - the reference to Full Spectrum Warrior also reminded me of Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30, which is another excellent war game from that gen.  Pandora Tomorrow's multiplayer was incredible, and I actually thought that Blacklist's multiplayer came close to capturing the same spirit.

#1 on my wishlist is a follow-up to Jet Set Radio future, though I doubt we'll ever get it.

I love a lot of lesser known Xbox games that gen.  But it's got to be this:

The Chrono Trigger(/Cross) sequel we should have gotten.

The battle system in particular is top shelf.  It's turn-based infused with the soul of a 90's arcade game.  With cards, played out in active time.  Sounds like a mess, but it works out brilliantly.  I'm happy it got a shout out recently...

"It's been more than 10 years since the release of Baten Kaitos II, and even now it pains me that I continue to receive requests for a sequel. I think the statute of limitations has run out, so I can say a little bit about it. Immediately after the release of Baten Kaitos II, Namco (now Bandai Namco) worked on a sequel up until the pre-production phase, but just before Baten Kaitos III could become a reality, the story ended due to the circumstances of the involved parties.

"If we made it, it would have been grand-scale game with settings at the bottom of the sea, on land, and in the sky. There's a large amount of concept art for the sequel sealed away at Bandai Namco. Requests for a sequel should be directed not just to myself and Monolith Soft, but also to Bandai Namco.""

Those crappy mixed-genre games were a guilty pleasure of mine. Two of my favorites:

Even though Die Hard Trilogy wasn't a PS2 game, I feel like it lived and died on PS1, and really deserves a proper sequel (we're not going to talk about DHT2). With development process being what they are today, and multiple team developers being the norm, I would love to see either of these games remade and polished. Usually there was one strong part of the game, and then the others suffered, but it would be awesome if the driving elements, first person shooter elements, third person beat 'em up, etc. were all finely tuned and really fun.

Was The Die Hard Trilogy arcade ports? I used to love playing the arcade beat’em up games, even though they had nothing to do with any of the movies. Getting the hair spray cans with a lighter was always a highlight :p

That was technically...Dynamite Cop I believe?? Aka Die Hard Arcade. There was a killer Saturn port.

Absolutely played that game to death. The amount of weapons was so good.

On topic: My friend had Stubbs and I honestly never took it as anything but a bad novelty one-trick-pony when I played it but I mean, I'm probably wrong. It's been ages. The movement was also thoroughly obnoxious with those relatively big spaces.

You def needed to play it more. The game is an absolute gem.

I'm about to dig out my old PC copy and replay it to see if it holds up :p

Yeah the Die Hard Arcade game was a blast.

But Die Hard Trilogy on PS1 was technically the story from the first three movies, but each "movie" had a different play style. One of them was a third person shooter, another was a light-gun style game, and then Die Hard 3 I think was a driving game. They were "ok" but I think if they were re-done nowadays they would kick ass. Of course the light gun sections would need to go, but they could easily make it a third person beat 'em up/first person shooter/arcade driving game. I mean, it's kinda what GTA has been doing for years now.

I think I need to get a MAME rom for the arcade game :p
