Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin is inspired by big action RPGs like God of War

Quote

A new, very different style of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game is currently in development: an adaptation of The Last Ronin, the 2020 graphic novel that told a grim, futuristic story about the turtles.

Like the comic, The Last Ronin video game adaptation will be a darker, more mature take on the typically colorful Ninja Turtles, according to Doug Rosen, senior vice president for games and emerging media at Paramount Global, the rights holders for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. In an interview with Polygon last week, Rosen likened the upcoming third-person action role-playing game to Sony’s recent God of War titles and said it will be authentic to the story of The Last Ronin arc, which is set in a future where only one of the turtles has survived.

While other TMNT games, like last year’s Shredder’s Revenge, are typically about playing as all four turtles (and sometimes their allies Splinter, April O’Neil, and Casey Jones), The Last Ronin will be a primarily a single-character game. Though Rosen posited that other characters could be playable in flashback sequences, similar to how the comic series plays out, the primary action is said to center on the only surviving turtle.

I should read this comic now that I have a tablet PC.

Actually on the real though. Logic says kindle but heart says graphic novel physical book. Opinions? I like the idea of physically owning art I think so I'm leaning towards graphic novel.

Yeah. It's an interesting story all around. It's cool seeing one turtle carrying all his brothers weapons, out on a quest for vengeance.  I have the first run, but picked up the graphic novel a while back to keep them in plastic.

Turtles are one of my favorite properties, and the only toy line I still semi-collect. Every once in a while, i'll buy a new carded figure as I try to complete my collection slowly. I'm close because I traded some Transformers stuff, which is a far more expensive line to collect, and there was no chance of ever coming close to a complete collection.

I would consider buying and playing with Real Ghostbuster toys. I nees to just buy them already tbh. I also gotta hunt down these Ghostbusters x TMNT action figs.

I wish our culture would do more random stuff like that. Even if it's like an episode of TMNT and they nevet directly say Ghostbusters it should be animated or filmed.

Ghostbusters is another great property. Some of my favorite movies, and an awesome animated series. Great characters, excellent monsters.

It's on Kindle Unlimited, if anyone has that. Although I tried reading it on my kindle and holy is it tough. I need to just pick up a paperback of it already.

And to those who were commenting about the toys. I've been a huge TMNT fan since I was a kid, and I...... still have all my TMNT toys. As in the originals. And the Turtle Van. And the Sewer playset.

My brother keeps telling me I could a pretty good chunk of change for them on the internet, but man, I dunno. They are a big part of me, they went with me everywhere. In Toy Story 3 when Andy gave away Buzz and Woody I was bawling like a little bitch because I couldn't imagine doing that with my turtles.

I don't even have kids to leave them to, so they'll have to be sold eventually, but I just don't know if I could get myself to do it.

As our resident socialist don't sell them. Sell them when you feel you should. They are your connection to your childhood. Most of my toys probably got sent to cousins in Colombia. I still have some of my treadmasters Godzilla stuff and some other things. Like I'd hunt down say Mars Attacks toys from the 90s because no one really makea collectible Mars Attacks stuff beyond like the current tabletop game.

I have Gigan for example and I could clean him up and put him on display. Treadmansters made pretty high quality toys for the era compared to other companies. Gigan looks like Gigan I wouldnt need to see like if the sound effects still work but it's serviceable as I have Godzilla merch. I'd consider buying like that black Gigan from forgot the movie as a statue.

I'd buy ghostbusters toys because when Ghostbusters merch was still popular that Ghostbusters show at Universal's gift shop was heaven. They literally had every Real Ghostbusters action figure ever made and I never got enough figures to like straight up just play Ghostbusters.

As for TMNT. I'd return my Lincoln Corsair for like this replica I saw of the 1990s TMNT van. I legit had that toy.

Agreed. Sometimes I think people think they need to sell items that mean a lot to them just because it’s wasteful not to take the money. But honestly if something means a lot to you, you’ll never be able to replace it with that money. I mean, if you need it for food then yeah, but otherwise keep your toys.

Hell, I have a stuffed dog I got as a replacement when my parents divorced when I was 9 and we had to give up our dog to a farm. It’s not worth anything of course but you could offer me 5k for this raggedy thing and I wouldn’t take it. Peter is mine.

Anything that isn’t complete is mostly worthless, so in this case your nostalgia is probably worth more. Theres some value with playsets IF you have all the pieces, and some of the pieces are worth more than the playsets themselves. I have the Technodrome Sealed, and the Van complete in box (not sealed).

I also collect some GI Joe, but absolutely nothing sealed. It’s just too large of a collection, and far too expensive. Thankfully theres lots of aftermarket accessories for GI Joe to complete the figures, so I just pick up good loose figures when I find them.  I like making little GI Joe war scenes in my gaming room. Cobra commander is currently hanging off a Cobra Rattler, shooting at Duke on a tank.

I've been offered $300 for the lot, but I declined. People pay a lot of money for useless shit they really want, all the time.

Just look at how much money some dudes pay for used panties.
