That studio already seems ruined beyond repair. Best to just liquidated the leadership of Blizzard entirely and start over with passionate, idealistic leaders if you want any hope of Blizzard going back to its glory days before the dark times. Before Activision.

Are we assuming that Blizzard was only putting out quality games because of the sexual abuse? And that to get back to that level of quality again would need the return to abuse too?

I think the general idea is Microsoft doesn't want to tell studios what to do, and have them make what they want. I think for the most part they don't expect them to bring out giant turds. For every Redfall there is a Hi-Fi so take it as you will.

Though there is still a way MSFT can be “hands off” while massively influencing development or design. They just do it with revenue expectations. Nobody from MSFT told them to put a cash shop in game, but management didn’t think they could meet the revenue numbers on units sold alone, so cash shop.

The FTC argued that district judge Jacqueline Scott Corley, who denied the government body's appeal for a preliminary injunction in July, held the FTC to too high a standard.

Imad Abyad, an attorney representing the FTC, argued that the government body only had to show the potential for Microsoft to withhold games from other platforms rather than to make a case that the deal was anticompetitive.

Abyad said Microsoft had done this in the past after acquiring Zenimax in 2020, making some of its titles exclusive to Microsoft.

I appreciate the sentiment, but it just seems so futile. They have no backing from existing law or legislators and in the last 50 years there’s been more precedent going the way it’s already gone.

Again, the FTC focusing on this because it's a little bit bad for competition while ignoring Adobe's acquisition of Figma that is enormously bad for competition is laughable.

 

I should note that the EU and UK ARE doing a good job trying to stop this acquisition.
