  1. I’ve been at a festival with my family over the past few days and one of the things on was karaoke. This wasn’t any old karaoke though, this was Barrioke. This is a thing in the UK as Barry (actual name Shaun Williamson) is a bit of a cult icon as an ex-soap star, featured in the show Extras (and Life’s Too Short) and has toured Barrioke for a few years now. The act is people sign up and sing alongside him. For the festival, it meant going on the main stage at 12pm (after a chap caller Mr Motivator, another British icon, had encouraged about 12,000 people to come to the stage for a bit of aerobics. There were 30 songs available, so it was a first come, first choose situation and most songs had been taken before I got there. I ended up choosing Ruby by the Kaiser Chiefs and then went about my day. The show was only 45 minutes or so, so the reality was only about 7 or so people would actually get on out of the 30. Lo and behold though, after the first three acts, my name was called. So I waddled on over to the fence, got a sticker, hung around on some steps and then was ushered on stage to (probably more) than 12,000 people (with my wife, daughter, and extended family at the front). It was certainly an experience but now I may need to leave the life of a teacher and become a rock star, because I need that thrill again! The oddness rating can come from how quintessentially English this whole experience was.
  2. When all is well - I’d be interested to hear how one goes from a god-fearing conservative, to an liberal atheist - though a bit of me thinks I already know the answer.
  3. Listened to the first point, absolute joke.
  4. I had a mixture of algorithms and date hit me today. My YouTube has started to become populated with videos of Todd MacFarlane showing how to draw (and in general a lot of how to videos), cue to today, I took my daughter to the charity shop to buy a new toy and low and behold, tucked way in the kids book section was How to Draw Superheroes the Marvel Way. I bought it and it looks brilliant.
  5. That’s a massive shame to hear, I can’t think of many people in the wrestling world who were as respected. Mick Foley will be very sad.
  6. Through a colleague of my wife, we met a couple that are very into tabletop gaming and board games - my wife mentioned to her colleague that I’d love to try D&D and they arranged to come over and play a spin-off called Animal Friends. It was well worth the wait, I had a great time (well we’re about 2/3 of the way through the campaign). We’ll be dipping into some of their board games as well which is awesome and hopefully will kickstart my wife into playing some of the games we own! I now also want to look into an actual TCG after enjoying Gwent, Hearthstone, Marvel Snap, MTG etc on my phone so I’m kind of keen to try out a good, easy to access game I might be able to convince my wife to play!
  7. Just coming back to this, I’m not on board with the idea of A.I taking on the role of NPCs (just because it reduces the VA market) but it would be well worth having an A.I redo this VO in this so it doesn’t sound as though it was recorded through a webcam mic.
  8. I’m in a weird catchment where I’d probably use this quite a lot - but the only way I’d get one is if I won it, or someone have me one for free.
  9. I can very distinctly remember wanting to buy this when I had a silly amount of money saved up but ended up opting for: Excitebike 64 (awesome), Jet Force Gemini (loved it), and Ridge Racer 64 (also loved it). I mean, I made the right choices for me…but it was apparently the easiest of the three, so that’s something?
  10. Finally did a small circuit this morning which was nice (60 reps of press ups, crunches, triceps dips, and squats) with the intention of building it up over the next few weeks.
  11. Remember when everyone wanted Zelda but with the Spaceworld 2000 demo graphics - I’m guessing they went on to make this.
  12. There used to be someone (something frog) that did Flash parodies of Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, and Final Fantasy that I found hilarious at 13.
  13. A bit more Miles Morales - I’d love to be able to get a good crack at this, but life is busy. Also some more Tears of the Kingdom - I may succumb early and look at a map showing the shrine locations as I’d quite like to be OP before I carry on with the dungeons.
  14. Maybe they’re going to go full voice acting in the next game and his vaguely racist accent isn’t a solid fit (for more than the odd wa-hoo).
  15. I should but my wife has asked I keep my hair as it is. I’ve thinned on my crown quite a lot and wanted to get ahead of it, but getting a decent haircut does the same thing.
  16. One person in this thread. I won’t say who, but we all know…
  17. Ken Jenkins (82) is still going.
  18. I love a crossword but the Guardian (my paper of choice) is £2.50…which is more than I want to spent on a paper I can read online (and no, a crossword in my phone doesn’t hit the same). I wish I had the ability to do a cryptic crossword but they’re just ridiculous.
