  1. Cool, but...almost kind of a waste of money? Seems like overall, NLG was pretty content just continuing to make games exclusively for Nintendo. Was it really necessary to buy them out? This is *almost* on the same level as Playstation buying out Insomniac. Like, alright, nice. You got 'em locked in. But they were already pretty much were, so...why spend the cash? LOL Yeah. They partnered with RARE for nearly a decade, then sold. I feel they only had Silicon Knights as second party for maybe a handful of years. (though considering what that company ended up being like, maybe they dodged a bullet there, haha) They still have NST and Retro, at least. And now NLG. *shrug*
  2. Eh, people bought those games...just not as much as they bought them on PS/XB. They still sold millions, right? (though maybe not Assassin's Creed since that didn't hit until Wii U, lol) My other question is this: Is Nintendo really losing third party support? It's true they aren't getting Call of Duty or EA's sports games. But they are getting some pretty decent exclusives. Monster Hunter, Bravely Default, Astral Chain, Octopath Traveller, MARVEL Ultimate Alliance 3, Travis Strikes Again...and upcoming exclusives like Bayonetta 3, No More Heroes 3, and Shin Megami Tensei V. Not to mention third-party cross-overs, like Mario + Rabbids, Tokyo Mirage Sessions, and Hyrule Warriors. Oh! And let's not forget all the third-party representation in Super Smash Bros. ULTIMATE. (plus even indie stuff like Crypt of the Necrodancer for example) Maybe I'm wrong but I'm not sure Nintendo's third party support is as bad as some would have it seem. EDIT: I'm also gonna include ULTRA Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers in my list because yeah it may have been too expensive at launch but whatever I enjoyed the hell out of it! There's no accounting for taste, sue me!
  3. I totally get this. This makes total sense. I'm actually kind of in the same boat, but substitute Playstation for Nintendo. Broken controllers, faulty hardware, etc. All that stuff takes a toll and sooner or later a company is gonna lose customers.
  4. This is a great thread. A+. Well done, D1P. Also, whoever suggested the PS5 should be a handheld? I’m totally on board for that magic to happen!
  5. Not joking. I’m not really one for these “open world” games. So much to do, see, conquer...it’s kind of overwhelming. I’ll get around to it. Eventually. Hopefully.
  6. Sorry to hear about your family and COVID. Hope they recover quickly.
  7. Yeah I'm sorry I don't pay attention to Xbox stuff. To be honest, I kinda forget it's a thing. Maybe if there was an Xbox portable machine, I'd be more interested...!
  8. I’m not really sure what ‘Game Pass’ or ‘Playstation Now’ offers, but Nintendo’s online service offers free NES and SNES games (now with online play!) as well as Cloud saves. The “My.Nintendo” service offers tons of discounts on games all the time, and you can earn “Gold Coins” which can be used as cash towards the purchase of anything on the eShop. Yes. I sign into my account on both my son’s Switch, and my daughter’s Switch, depending on which one is more convenient for me to get to, haha.
  9. If she liked Professor Layton, then Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy is a no-brainer.
  10. Nintendo just released an update to SwapNote. You read that right.
  11. @BloodyHell Well, agree to disagree about Sony’s sticks. Hard to argue with Xbox’s controller. Except that stupid d-pad. Other than that, little to no complaints!
  12. @BloodyHell Again, interesting insight! Not sure why you have this mission to try and “dispel the myth” that Nintendo has the most reliable hardware (when I’m pretty sure it does) but I guess we all have our own axes to grind. I always enjoy talking to the group here at D1P. I’m usually surrounded by big Nintendo fans, so it’s refreshing to hear/read opinions that the company and its games/hardware aren’t the best. I really do appreciate it. No bullshit. Though I will say, no way do I want PS-style thumb sticks on my JoyCon! Never liked PlayStation’s analog sticks. They never really felt right in my hands. Xbox-style though? Hmm. Maybe!
  13. Interesting insight. Thanks for sharing! I’m curious though. If you don’t feel Nintendo has the most reliable hardware in the industry...which company do you think DOES?
  14. I’m afraid to look at my play times in Animal Crossing (any of them) or Pokémon (any of them). Although...those games are designed to for you to pour tons of hours into them. So I guess it’s not that surprising. I’ve dumped an embarrassing amount of hours into the various Street Fighter IV games, I know that.
  15. It’s because they all still work. The NES may be the outlier, sure. But anyone with a screwdriver and the tiniest bit of research can fix it. The top-loader NES systems are solid as a rock, as far as I know.
  16. Switch definitely has its issues, I won't (can't) deny that! I can't tell you how many Joy Con I've had to send in due to 'drift.' It's frustrating. But that situation is kind of outlier for Nintendo. Historically speaking, Nintendo hardware is built to last. Playstation has always seemed buggy out of the gate. PSOne and PS2 had laser eye misfires, "disc read error" and such. PS3 had the "Yellow Light of Death" and such. PS4 bricked at launch, IIRC. The problem with PS5 just seems par for the course. Funny enough, the most solid Playstation platforms I've had experience with have been their handhelds. Both the PSP and Vita suffered no real hardware issues in my experience - nothing like the system randomly crashing or anything like that.
