  1. All I want from a show like this would be something like the Star Wars: From a Certain Point of View short story collection, but as a TV series. Like, if they're going to do try to retell the story from the trilogy, I barely want to see Shepard and the crew of the Normandy. Been there done that. I'm reaching the end of ME3 now, and while I love these characters, I've already spent 100+ hours with them in this format. I want to see what the rest of this galaxy is like for the people who aren't the Chosen One. My favorite episode would be all about a random dude on the Citadel. At the start of the episode, he's standing outside of a shop, chatting with a friend about some old war relic that belonged to his family, but it got left behind when they had to evacuate their home world. He goes about his business. Takes his kids to school, gets in an argument with his partner about dinner, gets in trouble with his boss, all that regular life shit. Weeks later, he happens to be outside that same shop again, when Commander Shepard, the MOST IMPORTANT HUMAN IN HISTORY, stops by and says "Hey, I heard you were missing this. There you go." hand him the artifact, and sprints off to cure the genophage or whatever.
  2. And when games leave GP, they do it right: let you know a month in advance, and give a discount if you want to buy it. Games just don’t vanish with no warning.
  3. I haven’t seen much other than Ted Lasso and season one of Servant, but Foundation and a couple of others are on the list.
  4. Not directly, but it does make the fairly compelling case that without his plan, without him pushing them into tennis from a very early age, without his hustling to get them the top coaches, their professional careers wouldn't have ever happened. Now obviously, to become the top ranked players in the world, you need to work you ass off and have a ton of talent, no matter what your dad's 78 page plan has in store for you. Ultimately, they are the ones on the court doing the work, they deserve the credit. But without him, would they have been on the court in the first place? Would they have stayed in the game long enough for them to somehow naturally play their way out of Compton without his help? This movie suggests not.
  5. Story time! About 5 years ago, I was working at Target. One of the seasonal hires assigned to my department had the worst BO I've ever encountered. Like rotten eggs, Doritos, wet dog, and sulfur from the 6th layer of hell combined. You would smell him coming from around the corner before you would see or hear him, zero exaggeration. It was so bad, I thought it had to be either a symptom of something severely medically wrong or a prank. I gave him the benefit of the doubt the first day. We all have bad days sometimes. One day the water got shut off in my apartment building with no notice, and I had to go to work without a shower. But no, it was consistent. After working with him for a couple days, I realized: in no scenario on Earth would I ever say anything about it to this man. Which in turn made me wonder: do I stink? Am I causing people to cartoonishly gag every time I walk into a room, and everyone is just too polite to say something? Eventually I had to confess this to one of my long time coworkers, who assured me that no, I don't smell worse than the trash compactor on a 100 degree day. I smell fine. If anything, my combination of body wash and deodorant might be a little too strong at times. As for Mr. Stink, he didn't last long, but he did some good for the store on the way out. The store manager, possibly the worst manager I've ever worked with, bought a bottle of cologne and dumped it on him when he was sitting in the break room one day while yelling about how he was driving away business. He filed a complaint, quit a few days later, and that incident (with multiple witnesses in the room and also caught on security cameras) was enough to finally get her fired.
  6. Solid movie! Great performances all around. I don't know a ton about the real life story, but from what I understand, the broad strokes of this movie are pretty accurate. It does focus on the Richard Williams character more than any other for most of the run time, but it makes sense for the time period of the story.
  7. Hot damn. When I got rid of most of my disks a few years ago (before a move) I just dumped them for trade in credit at a local place. But I don’t think I had anything particularly rare/valuable. It was mostly 360/PS3/Wii games.
  8. Having an online mode so popular, Rockstar could basically stop making new ones.
  9. Apparently this is the first “main” series game to not be developed by them (according to Wikipedia).
  10. I use the Dominos app to track my mental health. I’ve only ordered it once in the last 6 weeks, so I’m doing alright. When I’m getting it once a week or more, that’s when things are really dark.
  11. I have no interest in that story, but that is a compelling cast.
  12. The other fun coffee thing I’ve seen recently was a “system” you subscribe to. They send you a scale and a bag of coffee. Store the bag on the wi-if enabled scale, and it automatically ships your next freshly roasted order when your bag gets to the exact right weight so you never run out. Or, I don’t know, just buy coffee when you’re running low?
  13. I’m thinking a shake like this could be helpful for my dinners. I eat reasonable portions basically through the work day, but then I come home and just snack all evening because I’m too tired and lazy to make real food. If I can come home, slam a protein-rich shake and be satisfied for the 4-5 hours until I go to sleep, that would be great. I used your code, gonna see if this works for me.
  14. Does it feel like something you could realistically use as a regular meal replacement? Edit: never mind, I see you already basically answered that. I guess I’ll check in after a week or two and how it holds up.
  15. That reminds me: the best taco is Choco
  16. So I’m guessing ground beef with a seasoning packet doesn’t cut it was “real”, huh? In that case, I’ll have to do some research and get back to you.
  17. He is so good in Kim’s Convenience. That’s perfect. And Ken Leung! Always like to see him pop up in something.
  18. I just saw an ad for Kuerig’s latest coffee maker that scans your pod to find out what variety it is, then brews it “optimally” according to the manufacturer’s settings. Getting optimal coffee from a Kuerig is an oxymoron. Oh cool, you can use your phone to brew your coffee? What good is that if you don’t have a robot butler to bring it to you?
  19. Team up to solve the mystery/unmask the villain. Or get high in a van with a talking dog. With everything else going on in this movie, it wouldn’t surprise me if there was a talking dog. Maybe it’s better in context (unlikely).
