And I get it if you want to remake some dialogue-heavy drama or something, maybe adapt the story for a different time and culture. CODA, one of my favorite movies of last year, was apparently a remake of a French movie nobody has ever heard of. But this is the simplest plot imaginable. You barely need subtitles. Big building full of bad guys. Reach the top to get main bad guy. I mean come on, dude from Linkin Park did the music. I don’t know how all of America hasn’t seen this movie already!

My brain doesn’t work for puzzles like this. Or at all. -

Wildermyth on Steam some VR bundle that I impulsively bought but haven’t even redeemed any of the keys. -

I'm in danger of overhyping it, but seriously, this is an incredible show. Performance across the board are great (young Kirsten is maybe one of the best kid performances I've ever seen?), the writing is excellent. With each new episode, the scope of the show grows wider, while simultaneously looking deeper into these characters. It feels like peak Lost, but without the messy "big" questions that are impossible to answer in a satisfactory way. There's a great sense of mystery and tension surrounding everything, but it's always focused on smaller, more personal issues. Nobody is trying to solve the mystery of flu, for example, or discover the origin of the smoke monster (there is no smoke monster, unless they're saving that for the final episode). And I can't wait for this final episode. I can guess some of what will happen, but with so many things colliding, it could really go any way. At this point, I have complete trust in this creative team to deliver something satisfying.

I started to type out a big long rant about my job and that we are understaffed for idiotic reasons, but y’all don’t need that. For now I’m sticking around hoping that things will turn around (I keep hearing rumors that changes are finally coming), but if they don’t, I can take my newly acquired skills and shop them around town for a place that might give a shit about retaining good workers.

Movies Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Nightmare Alley’ - Official Trailer
TheLeon replied to SimpleG's topic in The Performing Arts Centre
This is a weird movie that, on my first impression, I think is bad. I don’t know if it’s just that my expectations were off because I only saw the first teaser, and so I was expecting more carnival. That was what I enjoyed the most, when the story moved beyond that I got a lot less interested, and there was still a lot of movie left.
