Does it seem like the Pawns have unique personalities or are they all relatively interchangeable mercenaries?

Quick questions, the characters that follow you around, are they very involved in the story? Where you get fun party banter, they add to story conversations, they seem like people. Or are they just there, a bot following you around, and I’ll likely get more emotionally attached to my own weapon than I will any of those in my party?

Yeah the industry really seemed to blown its load last year. There’s also the Eldin Ring DLC that may be big enough people rope it into GOTY talks like they did the CP expansion. I kind of expect Star Wars outlaws to get pushed into 2025 by at least 1 delay. Which wouldnt have won anyways, but could be in some people’s top games of the year lists.

it will surely be somebody’s. My own possible hangups aside on this title it looks like we’ve got 2 strong contenders between this and FFVII Rebirth.

So I was all for this game until I heard somebody talking about what it might be like based on the first game. They got to talking about having limited inventory and needing to pack for a trip, take camping stuff and provisions, needing to sleep or lose health at night, making sure you pack the right stuff to deal with the creatures and threats you could face, maybe getting it wrong, etc. I was just like “sounds like Id be annoyed”. I really dont care for survival mechanics in games. The fact that I can automate eating in Palworld with the feed bags makes it mostly tolerable, but I get annoyed every time I have to switch around armor because the sun went down or came back up. I dont want to layer more micromanaging and adventure halting into it. The only thing in a game like this that could kill my interest even more is if there was aggressive weapon and armor degradation, and I couldnt repair them. Except maybe for an over emphasis on single use potion and item crafting with an encyclopedia’s worth of ingredients and materials to find and keep track of. otherwise I really like the look of the game. I like the idea of being able to focus on being a support class role within the party and not the one solely responsible for being DPS, tank, and healer all in one.

Hmm. Now I want to get a pro controller with Dual Sense haptic feedback. I love me some back paddles. But maybe just a regular Dual Sense should be fine.

How’s Dual Sense for Horizon Forbidden West? That came out on both originally. I was wondering about getting a Dual Sense both of these and finishing Rift Apart.

Yeah I can see where a casual fan might find it boring. Bad Tv direction doesnt help either when there are battles taking place and we get replay of stuff that doesnt matter or a shot of something far less interesting than two cars on track fighting for position. It may be a bit of copium, but Max winning races by a mile means the tv direction can focus on other drivers and battles happening down the grid. Instead of where a driver makes up like 13 places moving through the field and we never saw a single overtake. And these are often the same drivers featured in Drive to Survive that a new audience may feel a connection to. Really, I think the biggest place you feel the dominance hurting the entertainment of F1 is in the latter half of the season where there no longer a chance anyone can get their shit together and challenge for the championship. That story line is closed. But there have been some really good story lines all the way through the finale. Even at Red Bull with whether or not Perez would get his shit together and whether or not Ferrari would hold on to #2 in the WCC.

So when it says it is releasing March 21, which is a Thursday of all days of the week, does that mean it is unlocking Thursday night at some point or will unlock much earlier in the day?

agreed. And while Im sure it will look better on PC than even the PS5, I doubt it will look like a generational leap. its not like the PS4 or PS5 versions are 4K/60. in general though I like when games have graphics settings designed to humble a GPU. I dont think this game will, but I find it neat. It feels aspirational. Like one day youll be able to revisit this game and play it at its best.

Yep. like I said, Nintendo should just release their library on PC too. The people that use Yuzu either bought a copy for switch and then use Yuzu to play it with better performance and mods, or people who pirated the game and wouldnt pay for it on Switch anyways. Nintendo didn’t lose 1m sales to piracy or whatever they were claiming. If Nintendo offered people a way to play their games on PC, people would pay them for it. Hire these modders to make an emulator of the switch 2, then make the switch 2 able to “dock” to a PC to authenticate and read the game files. Bam! People will buy a Switch 2, buy the game, and likely even pay for the emulator if it’s good and well supported. Would that 100% eliminate piracy? No. But nothing will.

Looks like its a slightly slower GPU, but has 1GB more VRAM in the minimum HFW specs compared to HZD. Interesting.

Isnt F2P and mobile gaming also volatile? I guess the games are often cheaper to make so when they die in year they likely already made back their development in whatever micro transactions.

I liked how they did the settings menu in HZD. Made it easy to optimize. So even if I just get 4k/60 with DLSS3 on very high I am confident I can decide where I want to trade off to find a bitnof extra performance to always stay reasonably above 60fps

Indeed. RDR2 on PC is 150GB. FF VII Rebirth comes in at 145.7GB. Starfield is 139.84GB Sub 100GB AAA games are going to start becoming more and more rare if not disappear entirely within the next couple of years
