  1. I use shady streaming websites over Prime video despite paying for it because the Russian teens who run those sites do better UI design and have a better player.
  2. Finally got around to watching this. I have a pretty mixed opinion of the book but I can’t imagine a better adaptation of that source material than what they’ve done with this movie. I love how empty and grand everything is. It’s the perfect look for a sci-fi universe gone so high it wraps back around and becomes low fantasy.
  3. This game is pretty fucking sick. My only concern is that it doesn't seem super content heavy. The content that is there seems very replayable since it's all about getting into that Tetris-like flow, but there's nothing wrong with having more levels either. I feel like this game is in a very similar niche to the recently released Neon White, and if I had to place my vote I'm on team Rollerdrome. Shill Up's comparison to the recent DOOM games is pretty apt.
  4. Her version of Country Roads as used in Whisper of the Heart feels like it had to have been made for the movie.
  5. Looks good. I adore in Bruges and Farrell and Gleeson have some of the best chemistry I've ever seen. Curious how in the 15 years since In Bruges Colin Farrell has aged 15 years and Gleeson hasn't aged a day.
  6. Agreed. I feel like this show had a great premise and setup but the direction it is taking is worrying. I want more Lord of the Flies, less LOST.
  7. I'm hoping that Gene gets a call from Walter telling him they have to go back to the island and Jesse's been dead the entire time.
  8. Has Anyone Really Been Far Even as Decided to Use Even Go Want to do Look More Like?
  9. My big concern about this game is that there won’t be enough environmental diversity. I never really clicked with Vermintide, but it did have a lot of beautiful levels. All I’ve seen from this is cut and paste grimdark corridors.
  10. So I started playing this about two months ago and just reached the level of progress necessary to do the event, and holy shit the amount of writing, acting, animation, and general game design they put into a time limited side event is pretty staggering. Overall the game is super impressive. Obviously there’s grinding that comes with the genre, but it seems like the most rewarding activity (exploration) is also what I enjoying doing the most. I’m not versed in gacha games, but I enjoy that progression does not seem to be limited by spending money. I do find it annoying that if my ~15 non-beginner guaranteed 4 stars I’ve rolled two duplicate characters, but they’ve at least been characters I enjoy.
  11. Just watched the first episode. I was concerned that this season was going to follow the cast on their various disconnected escapades, and I think it's hilarious how fast they scrapped that for V A M P I R E N I G H T C L U B, which is a great idea.
  12. I don’t think every movie needs to be a thinker. This criticism kind of feels like saying “Jaws didn’t have anything to say.” It’s certainly not wrong, but it feels beside the point.
  13. I haven't finished the season but I feel like things have just been all over the place in a way that is not necessarily good. Things are unpredictable, but that's because the show seems to constantly change the rules governing its strange reality. It feels like ten insanely dramatic things happen an episode, and you would be hard pressed to guess which events will actually have consequences and which ones will be completely forgotten with a scene change. The humor has been relegated to lame jokes about Hollywood being out of touch that only an out of touch Hollywooder could think still passes for commentary. It feels like there are absolutely no governing rules about how characters will act and which increasingly absurd event will have any greater meaning to the plot. The show is so fast paced that it can successfully gloss over a city-spanning firefight and a suicide bomber at a garden center, but it becomes increasingly hard to give a shit about the cops closing in on Barry for one murder, when literally 100% of the rest of the population of LA seems to know he's a killer. Maybe I should wait until I finish the season to pass judgement, but it's weird falling out of love with a show I had really enjoyed in real time. It's still compelling and fun to watch, but it also feels like it has gotten dumb where previously it had been smart.
  14. Well, what they ended up doing instead turned out to be one of the best FPS games of all time. From the Doom 2016 tech demos it looks like at some point they decided to make the game twice as fast and twice as bright.
  15. I feel like Jacob Geller takes the "video essay voice" so far he manages to redeem it somehow.
  16. Looks cool. I dabbled in Warframe but found it overwhelming. I can see myself getting into something like this if I can get in at the beginning.
  17. Not every show needs to be about guessing which major character is going to die next.
