Why did nobody tell me this game was good? Also what’s the best class for me, one word answers only.

I’m not a big Mobile gamer or Diarblo diehard but I tried it out at the behest of a friend and have been enjoying my time. Again I’m not big on mobile but the experience is much more seamless than I expected and the shared world multiplayer is pretty damn impressive.

I think it helps if you put it in the movie/show category in your head rather than the gaming box.

So I'm finally getting around to playing this and just got through act 1. The characters are charming, the vibe is good, and I'm digging the story. Hooooowever, one thing I really like about Life is Strange is that even though some of the characters did dumb things, their actions and reactions were always believable. Even though it would be tremendously dumb to tell your friend who thinks she was drugged and sexually assault to not go to the police because you need "evidence," it's also the kind of thing I can see a naive 18 year old doing (pre#metoo). Act 1 spoiler, what I don't find believable is that a park ranger would have two inexperienced people attempt to rescue a child who is not in any immediate danger across an unstable tree over a ravine. He'd just call search and rescue, go around the ravine and get him from the other side, or have another search party go around the ravine and get him from the other side. Also "That's it! Wake's over, everyone out!" is an unintentionally hilarious line.

The game looks fun but the quippy characters and general ‘tude is awful.

Diablo 4 looks a lot better than I expected given Blizzard’s recent trajectory.

This honestly looks much better than I expected.

Reviews look good and I'm always down for more of these.

RIP GB Listening to the annual GOTY fiasco was a great holiday tradition of mine before the Nextlander split. I’d love to hear a postmortem of all the fuckery that has gone on internally over there with the various acquisitions.

I think Dark pivoted from doing one thing really well to doing another different thing also really well. This looks cool, the voiceover suggests strong existential/cosmic horror themes, and I think they could do it quite well. I feel like most cosmic horror stuff goes too hard on the tentacles and not hard enough on the dread of being very small in a very large universe. There’s way too much mediocre cosmic horror and not nearly enough good stuff.

Thewlis was great. The episode with Ray Wise was also great, and there was plenty else to like about the season. Despite both being great actors, I felt like McGregor and Winstead’s characters just didn’t have the charisma of previous protagonists.

I didn’t hate it but the whole Fargo schtick is quaint and charming midwesterners doing awful things, and season 3 was severely bereft of that charm.

2 > 1 > 4 > 3 imo. Yeah, S4 had a lot of great characters, episodes, and moments, but I felt like the overarching plot wasn't quite as strong as in the first two seasons. I'm really looking forward to John Hamm in Fargo.

I’ve liked this season substantially more than 2 and 3. I think a little too much time was spent torturing Hop, but I kind of liked how the less interesting characters got abandoned in the California desert. The A and B plots of Hawkins and the lab were both great. Now I just need to catch up on Barry, Better Call Saul, and Atlanta, and get around to watching the Mandalorian and Inside.

Youtube keeps trying to make me watch these videos and I wish it would stop. The worst part is they give me the impulse to never talk about anything I know anything about ever, and only speculate wildly on things I have no knowledge of to avoid being obnoxious.

I don't know. I didn't really dig this game. I feel like I'm already personally overexposed to post-industrial "Doom Porn" as the video essay in the other thread put it. I don't really get the actual plot of the game and felt like there were too many threads between the corporate conspiracy, AI sentience dealio, cult mambo-jumbo, Christ figure gumbo-jumbo, and cool orb guy who I actually liked. I feel like all this stuff pushed the characters so deep into the background that other than some biographical information I didn't actually know anything about what these people were like. I can't really describe who Kay or Catherine are as people. I can't really imagine how they would act outside of the situations shown in the game. I don't even know why they were estranged other than "the usual reasons." With the exception of LeBlanc, the remaining characters all felt like means to an end with very little personality.

Finally got around to finishing this. Overall I think it was pretty great but a very hard watch. The ending was one of the best I've seen from a show.
