I had the most tense moment of my gaming life playing MK11 against this guy who decided I was cheap. I had no mic and he started off pretty nice, but then I beat him two rounds and he decided I was actually shit and cheap and yelling profanities and abuse (though I can’t recall any racist terms). He beat me the next two and it came down to the final round, I ended up luckily getting one of those long ass X-ray moves to hit and it was clearly gonna be enough to kill him ... he was raging so hard on the other end and I was cheering and laughing my ass off. I still have the match saved but I didn’t have it set to record audio... it’s such a damn shame it was so so funny. Not really relevant to this thread but @SimpleG got me reminiscing.

I mean I guess I don't give a shit about my PS+ library. It's a little odd, but the understanding from the jump is that you do not own those games - no different from when I subscribe to Netflix I do not expect to have those movies in perpetuity. The digital games I've purchased individually, however, I take issue with both having to rebuy them on the next gen of same-branded hardware or losing access to them altogether some day. They are doing the bare minimum here by allowing you to re-download your purchases.

I get the issues people have with hollow knight, but when that game is hitting on all cylinders it nails (ha!) what it’s going for better than most games over the past decade or so.

Nintendo Monster Hunter Rise - Sunbreak Expansion Coming June 30, 2022
Paperclyp replied to Keyser_Soze's topic in The Spawn Point
Everyone has their own definitions of things so it doesn’t really matter in terms of what a generation is, but to me a generational leap bare minimum consists of a machine that has games that can no longer run on older hardware (realizing that there is some gray area there as well). I have never heard anyone consider the Pro and Series X to be a new generation lol. At some point I do not give a shit where people slot Nintendo’s stuff in. -

@ShreddieMercuryRising I consider Code Veronica to be one of the harder games, but I still think it’s really good. -

RE2 original REmake Code Veronica RE2 Remake RE4 -
I remember like bashing chests with your sword and then an absurdly long put away animation from cloud before you can start moving again. There are times where the combat really frustrated me as well, but i attributed most of that to I suck. I ended up feeling it was all worth it by the end, but those little things really hampered the experience for me as well.

Emotion engine was PS2 I believe. PS3 was the dreaded “cell,” lol. In a vacuum the PS3 by the end of its lifespan had a fantastic library and devs like Naught Dog tapped into the supposed power of the cell. In context, I can see how people would classify it as a failure even though it ended up outselling the 360. They actively fucked up their momentum following the PS2 it near unbelievable ways - as you referenced the ridiculous launch prices (and attitude that came with it “you’ll get another job to buy it”), the convoluted cell processor that especially multi platform devs wanted no part of, their shitty (albeit free) online, their dismissal of rumble (and again stupid arrogance about it). It’s frankly fascinating how bad they fucked it up as well as how closely Xbox mirrored those same mistakes and arrogance the following generation. I think had social media been more prominent back then, the response would have made the XB1 debacles look like child’s play. I’m not sure if younger people realize how dominant the PS2 was in its generation? All that said it was my console of choice outside of multiplayer games and the not insignificant number of multiplatform games that just ran like shit on the PS3. And I’ll always have fond memories of PS3 fanboys hyping games like heavenly sword, that dragon game that sucked ass, and any number of drawn out developed PS3 games that turned out to be mediocre at best.

General Gaming Are the pre-VII PC Final Fantasies decent versions?
Paperclyp replied to Paperclyp's topic in The Spawn Point
I think 4 is low key great? I kept holding out hope they would put 6 on Switch's SNES POS thing, but I just think there's too much money to be made from reselling it over and over to morons like myself. I have probably played 3/4 of the way through that game 5 times and then stall out on it for various reasons. I remember loving 4 but I haven't played it for like 20 years. I think I dabbled with the first two but don't know if I can hack it as I don't think they hold up super well. 4-6 though I'd kind of like to revisit. -

I have the FF Anthology package and then the Chrono Cross + I think it's FFIV package (great combo), and then I think it's like FF Origins or something which is 1-2 and not sure if 3 is on there. I think they're straight ports. Love them but have to use my PS3 to play them, and I'm looking to stream some JRPGs to my phone laying in bed before I go to sleep. -
