Recommend some online coop/vs games to play together with my girlfriend (PC)

The thread title may be really vague for what I'm really asking, so here goes:

My girlfriend currently, albeit temporarily gladly, lives in Montreal and I'm in New York so obviously we can't see each other right now considering the border situation and so on. She does not play video games although has apparently played Mass Effect and Skyrim here and there with an ex years ago and we both happened to get new laptops only a month or two ago. Anyway, since she's cooped up in the house with her institute closed for a minimum of two weeks, and since we can't visit each other, I suggested we try out playing a game with and/or against each other online.

I'm looking for something easy to pick up, easy to control, fun that we can play against each other or maybe also co-op. Puzzle games, that type of thing maybe. Also if there are any cool Adventure games, point 'n clicks, that sort of thing that can be played online co-op or so? I never play online myself so I'm a bit lost here but told her I'd come up with some ideas to check out.

One I saw I thought looked fun was Overcooked 2 which appears to be playable online, would that meet the criteria for anyone who has played that?

Also, is there an option on Steam to watch your friends play a game? Totally different but she said she'd like to watch me play through SOMA after I described it to her. Is a form of voice chat possible at the same time if so?

For the Overcooked 2 yes you can play it online. For someone not too coordinated it might be difficult and the game does get harder later with only 2 people (check out that thread @SaysWho? made for deeper reflection on that)

Also, steam has something where you can play couch coop games online, which might expand your prospects a bit.

The second part yes steam broadcasts are a thing and you set it up on your end and she would request to watch.

A Way Out ( Co-Op required! Prison Escape Buddy game)

Far Cry 5 ( Open World FPS)

Diablo 3 (Dungeon Looter)

Monster Hunter World (Instance Based Monster Hunting 3rd person action adventure)
Guild Wars 2 (MMO RPG Vanilla version is Free to Play, But you can buy the expansions for $20 at DLGamer.com and best of all NO SUBSCRIPTION! Buy Once and you're good!)

Also for voice chat you guys can use Discord and if you're in a private call you can stream the game. Just click on the cast button then select application and then select the game you're playing.

Steam has a new feature for some games support that adds online co-op to games even if it’s not hard coded into the or if it didn’t have online co-op at all. You don’t even have to buy two copies just invite a friend and they’ll be player 2 via steam. Check out the games

Other co-op games include borderlands 2 and 3

Some people here have some very weird definitions of "easy to pick up" and "easy to control."  Divinity Original Sin?  Really?  I started playing that last week and even as someone who has played a ton of Baldur's Gate and similar CRPGS, that game felt inscrutable.

Rocket League is a great pick up and play game, but also keep in mind that Steam has tons of board games with online now too, like Carcassonne and the like.  Even if she's not big into video games there are many online games you two can play together.

I've played zero boulder's gate and it was pretty easy to pick up.

That being said I had to fail once to figure out what works (Pro Tip: Pick a mage or archer) and then played co-op with my friend and it was good times.

If the most RPG experience someone has is skyrim, DOS is a big ask.  I'm familiar with these types of games in general and the character build screen looks like a nightmare to me.  Also, in my opinion, a game where you have to re-roll for picking the wrong class up front is not easy to pick up.

Maybe it looked daunting to you but it seemed pretty standard to me, in fact less than an elder scrolls game. I mean you can just pick a standard class you don't really even have to assign anything and you'll figure it out as you go.

You want something intimidating then look at Path of Exile. I mean it wasn't hard for me to understand either but some people look at the sphere grid and say, "nope!"

DOS non-linearity will kill off casual gamers IMO.  It took me forever to get past the first "world" or whatever you want to call it by the time I got to the 2nd, I was ready to move on to another game.

Diablo 3 and Halo are pretty good to run through. Halo's easy mode is extremely easy.

Minecraft

Dragon Quest Builders 2 - I don't know exactly how the co-op works in this, but the gameplay is really fun so can't be that bad right?

Castle Crashers? I can't say I've ever played it, but I know it was big back on the 360.

TemTem maybe?

Destiny 2 - if nothing else you can just run through the story and shoot things

These are more party games.

Golf with Friends can be hilarious at times, especially when you put wacky settings on.

Pummel Party is pretty much Mario Party on steam.

Uno
