Brian
New season starts this Sunday. I love when a new season of Curb appears out of nowhere.

Or do you need a full blown drama? Because you 1000% didn’t just finish two actual comedies.
Greatoneshere
Is anyone else watching? I finally caught up and watched both episodes out so far this season and it's solid. Not great, some good laughs, but not bad either. It's solid Curb. I know, like Archer, a lot of fans lament that these shows have become somewhat shadows of their former selves over the years (unlike Always Sunny, which remains quite strong) but there's nothing out there quite like Curb and I need my Curb fix. It's a shame though, both this thread and the Archer thread hardly got much attention this year despite new seasons for both shows coming out this year. Even the What We Do In The Shadows thread, a new, still great comedy show, only got slightly more attention. Even the Rick and Morty thread posting was way down despite a new season of it airing this year too. I miss my old Curb and Archer fans! Greatoneshere
Agreed, the last two have been really good overall I've felt. The episodes still run a little too long and there are still too many characters/plots in these recent seasons but the last two episodes had so many great bits. Greatoneshere
Another great episode. Loved the whole conversation with Seth Rogen about "secret preferences" and this episode felt tighter than normal, which was nice. Also Vince Vaughn's comedic timing as Freddie Funkhouser has been so good, he fits right into the Curb universe perfectly and he's been a highlight for me this season. I like that they slowly introduced Vaughn’s character to replace Bob Einstein’s character and didn’t just have him hop right into it. Yeah it's definitely been a slow build, which is much more enjoyable and makes more sense than some full sudden replacement for sure. Moa
Einstein was my favorite secondary character on the show and I miss him greatly. I wasn't initially sold on Vaughn but have come to enjoy him on the show.
Greatoneshere
The last episode was pretty funny! House Husband was great, and just watching Larry be Larry alone in someone else's house as people watch him on camera was amusing. Also the "stay in your lane" and "not racist, you had the audacity though" are great concepts. It's been a solid season so far overall. Greatoneshere
Finally finished up the whole season - while at times scattershot, there were a lot of running bits and jokes throughout a lot of individual episodes that reminded me of Seinfeld-ian and old Curb type humor. I personally think the show has still mostly got it, which is impressive after 21 years. I mean, Larry David is 67 years old if you can believe it. SuperSpreader
This season was missing the level of cringe Larry gets himself into. This felt like the cringe was mostly the fault of other people and Larry's misunderstanding or worry about the fence law which made me sympathetic. There was also less interaction with the main cast. Jeff doesn't seem to care anymore. Leon and Susie are still into it. No Richard Lewis? Probably isolating.
Spork3245
I have no idea why Larry wouldn't just speak to a lawyer with the fence law and the extortion shit from it. "But then the season wouldn't have the season-long plot point" <- make the lawyer suck and/or have some weird thing that Larry doesn't like, like that one season where his lawyer wasn't actually Jewish so he switched to another and he blew the case.

Bloodporne
Have yet to watch this season but the main question is...how much is Leon in this? Greatoneshere
Man, I'm going to miss this show when it's gone. Even though it hasn't been as tightly written in later seasons (due to longer episode runtimes I think), it's still great. This was a great opener, nice to see Sharlto Copley in something mainstream, some banger lines tonight: "You know what I mean?" "I know what you mean. Why do you keep asking me if I know what you mean? It wasn't that difficult. It's not science. You made a very simply statement. Yeah, I know what you mean." "Have you noticed that when you take a picture, you don't look nearly as good as you do when you look in the mirror? Because the mirror is how you see yourself and the photo is how you're seen." *moving on* "We can't both be Tutu. We can't have two Tutu's." "No, you can't have two Tutu's." "I'm disappointed. I was expecting more from my childhood hero." "I've been expecting more from myself my whole life and it's just not there."

This second episode was less funny and looser like some of the weaker episodes from later seasons but I expect a few of those every season. Been lots of pre-season articles on this being the final-season.... but not be the final-season, but they want to call it the final-season because the finale is funnier that way. Also some talk about the Seinfeld endings and how Larry regrets it. What better way to fix it and put all those pieces together than to mock the Seinfeld ending and kind of redo it. When he thought last season was going to be the last, on the final episode when Larry falls into the pool, they filmed an ending where he drowns and dies (you just see the paper float to the top and then a bubble several seconds later -> roll credits) but then decided not to use it
