Just saw this on reddit. Horizon and Battlefield 2042 devs being salty about Elden Ring. There were more images and trash talking but too lazy to link. One quote was "nothing about it feels intentional or playtested"....what?

So I sat at a campfire and the chick appeared to me and invited me to the Round Table. Which is nice cuz now I can buy incantations and rank up my sword more, but I have no idea what I did to get her to appear. Like, if I wouldn't have discovered that specific site of grace, would I have just been running around indefinitely?

She appears because you probably hit one of the early 'story' bonfires that have the arc of light guide thingie on it.

I found a [3] somber stone last night and almost couldn't fucking believe it. Had to double-check my inventory.

 

I actually really want to play something else as a Dex than the Bloodhound whatever Greatsword but it just outclasses EVERYTHING still. I wish I'd have more viable options bc I keep finding cool looking weapons but there's no way any of them put out damage like this.

This is exactly my problem.

Im considering a respec to confessor when i find better stuff.

Does anyone know if you use blood grease on a blood weapon does it stack and double the effectiveness?

 

I just beat her with two other people. I'm level 60. 

 

Guys, how is the Grafted Blade Greatdword? I need 40 strength to use it.

I can kind of understand what they're getting at, but it's nowhere near a big enough problem to be pitching a fit over it. They certainly didn't have to apologize for making a piece of shit like EA did for 2042. Or a Ubisoft game in a nice dress like Horizon.


I think my personal biggest gripe now is that there's just too many copy-pasted (or close enough to be copy-pasted) cave mini-dungeons that all feel nearly identical. They're becoming less and less fun. They're all just so drab and boring looking. They're totally optional but I don't think that's an acceptable excuse. Skyrim for example was pretty good about not every cave system feeling the same, even if every other part of Skyrim is repugnant to me.

 

Further, getting this fucking Bloodhound Greatsword has also been a curse for me as well. Every other weapon just feels like shit in comparison. It has SUCH a good moveset and the L2 + R2 attack is both fun to use and highly effective. It's not just the damage, it's that it's very agile as well.

 

I want to experiment more, but every time I equip another weapon the damage is total shit because it's not upgraded (and I don't want to just upgrade everything willy-nilly, don't have the resources) and the moveset always feels worse. And the Bloodhound Sword itself feels limited because I can't fucking find a Somber Smithing Stone 7 anywhere.

 

If anything, the game has got me to experiment more with spells and ranged attacks more than melee weaponry, but FP is expended SO fast without specializing in it, and I still don't have the talisman that's supposed to reduce FP usage, which would be a godsend if it's like more than 25%.

 

I love the rebirth system so you can fully respec (no idea if this was in past Souls games as I never felt the need to) but the items used for it seem very rare so far. I wish less of the cool shit required you to go quite so deep into things like int, faith or strength. I'd rather they just scaled better with those stats so you still got a specialization advantage without them being completely locked out. Experimentation is a lot more fun when you don't have that little red X on so many of the things you want to use.

 

Minor gripes to an otherwise amazing game, for sure.

I'm actually about to just commit to the Whip for a bit, period. I just want to go full Castlevania and see what happens.

Also, I had no idea holding up or down on the dpad would reset your item to the first in the list. i.e. if your crimson flask is first and you're 5 items deep, like say on a grease, you just hold down on the dpad and you'll go back to your crimson flask.

I think this might be one legit thing that people may bring up, as there are also a lot of re-used bosses as well, even if most have slightly different situations during their encounters.  I have found a few that I haven't figured out what was different.

 

The sheer number of armor and weapons in these games is staggering.  I know most are just slight reskins of others, but its still cool to collect everything if you're into that.  I definitely want to experiment with other builds but haven't pulled the trigger on upgrading anything other than my Axe and Hammer so far, even if you can purchase all the Upgrades up to +6 from vendors.  

 

I have all unique:

 

86  Melee Weapons

10  Range Weapons

15  Magic Casting Items

32e Shields

 

35 Helmets

30  Armors

21  Gloves

25 Pants

 

And have only just started exploring the Atlus Plateau.

If you go all the way to the north part of Lake of Liurinia or whatever it is there is a crystal cave and when you get out of it there is a sombering stone 3 and 4. There another 3 somewhere in the lake because my inventory says I have two. 
 

I now have a +13 claymore and I’m getting along just fine. Nothing op, no bleed build, no magic, just a claymore the brass shield and a long bow and I’ve been fine. I think the difficulty is overstated. Don’t run to to the east at level 20 with a +2 longsword and you’ll be fine. There are tons of upgrade stones in that lake up to 4s in the north so definitely go there after Stormviel if anyone is having problems. I think it’s clear the east part of the map is for later.

Yea I switched to a Rapier. I love Estocs and Rapiers. Also working on upgrading the whip, the moveset is sick.

 

I'm starting the Academy and this dungeon once again is GOAT tier From. It looks stunning and I don't usually call shit stunning.

 

I REALLY love the addition of the simple and super effective ambient music in this game. I mean that music for the Academy is ultra atmospheric.

Killing isn't a problem. I just want to try some other stuff I found.

An npc just gave me his rapier a little while ago. Nice weapon. 

 

I need Somber [5] and [6], because shockingly I have [7][8][9]. So if I can find those two, it'll be instant Bloodhound Fang +9. I'm sure ill find 6 first, because thats my luck.

Just noticed I have the Carian Filigreed Crest, which reduces FP used during Skills.

 

It's 75% of usual cost.  So 12 instead of 16.  Maybe better items out there though.

Played 6 hours today. I upgraded both my flasks(found 2 golden seeds)and sword because I found 3 sombering stones from exploring. I'm level 66 and today I beat:

 

Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon

Royal Knight Loretta

Ancient Hero of Zamor

Runebear

Death Bird

Adan Thief of Fire

2 Nights calvary out in the open

 

I opened up another part of the map, too. The game is massive and extremely addicting. I had a very successful day. :)

 

This will be tough to beat this year for me in goty award. It's incredible.
