This is from 2020, she's the aforementioned Home Secretary who's worse than Priti Patel.

The new attorney general is a member of a controversial religious sect which continues to venerate its founder despite well-documented claims that he was a serial sexual predator, the Observer can reveal.

Suella Braverman is a mitra – Sanskrit for “friend” – within the Triratna order, once one of Buddhism’s largest sects in the UK, which has been rocked by claims of sexual misconduct, abuse and inappropriate behaviour.

I can't help but feel like we're just at the extreme end of a blip. As of July they were one point off. At the beginning of this month they were only 8 points different. I have a really hard time imagining that if a new election were to take place that the gulf would really be quite so extreme.

That said, I think that even if this is just a poll that was taken at the exact worst time for the Conservatives, I think it's telling exactly how bad this particular cycle is for them. It'll be interesting to see how this new PM reacts to such an intensely negative reaction. Will they decide to leave that top tax bracket intact and keep the limits on banker bonuses, or will they double down?

So the plan to cut taxes for the rich has been axed, but it the damage done to the Tory's credibility is done.

many Tory MPs fear that, whoever made the final decision, it came too late. “The damage is already done,” said one. “We’ll always be the party that tried to cut taxes for the rich at the expense of the poor. It’s a long time until the next election, but this will stick.”

I didn't see if they'd changed their minds on the banker's bonus thing.

Things weren’t nearly this bad in the 1970s—but the country’s leaders haven't grasped that yet.

By any criteria, the United Kingdom faces a serious economic and social crisis, one that will deepen without big shifts in policy. Yet there is little sense of this crisis among the country’s elite, not least its politicians.

The power of narratives helps explain this disconnect. The gap between the U.K.’s reality as portrayed by the dominant narrative of its economy’s performance and real life as experienced by its average citizen has widened to the breaking point. The resulting political distortions are now making the underlying problems even worse.

Narratives and the emotional impulses that drive them play an underappreciated role in our understanding of the way economies work and whether they are perceived to be performing well or not. Sometimes, there is real grounding to those narratives; other times, they are largely fictional constructs. This does not necessarily mean that those who believe them and propagate them are dishonest, only that their personal experience may not be representative of the economy as a whole.
