Only did the tutorial and played a single match but my impression so far is... I dunno, seems way less fun and interactive than Hearthstone. It's fast, which I guess is good? I dunno, I like games to go on as long as they need to. This comes across more like a more strategic playing card game than a trading card game or CCG. TheLeon Posted December 28, 2022 Share Posted December 28, 2022 @Xbob42 I think the first hours of Marvel Snap are kinda playing vanilla Hearthstone with a bunch of basic ass minions, and your big finisher is a fuckin’ Stormwind Champion. Fundamentally, I don’t think it’ll get to the complexity of modern Hearthstone unless they introduce more game modes, but even after just one day of playing I’ve seen games get a lot more interesting. Destroying enemy minions, draw disruption, stealing your opponent’s cards, etc. My biggest problem right now is that I’m still facing mostly idiots. I played most of the afternoon and lost one game. The one way Snap definitely beats Hearthstone is as a true mobile game. I deleted Hearthstone off my phone years ago because it felt pointless. If you’re playing anything other than pure aggro, games can easily take 10+ minutes. That’s not a problem when I’m playing on an iPad at home on my couch watching TV, but terrible if I’m trying to sneak in a quick game at work or while I’m out and about. I don’t know if that will lead to Snap actually having long term staying power, but for now I’m enjoying that more focused experience. Around level or 20 or so, you'll start to play more actual human players... the way bots are handled in this game sucks to be honest and is more than a little shady in my opinion. The matchmaking is actually determined by your collection level not rank. Different tiers of cards unlock at different collection levels. Everything is relatively basic until you hit Tier 3(collection level 400ish I think?) that’s when stuff really opens up. It becomes much more than “make numbers go up” and the combos as well as counters you can pull off are pretty insane. All that being said, you have to like it enough to get there(doesn’t take that long) but if you don’t like it now it might not be worth it to put the time in. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You're matched up against guys with similar collection levels not ranks and they don't tell you that. My collection level is 2200 I think. @JPDunks4 is even higher. If it wasn't for this game I would have beaten God of War by now This was an 8 cuber I won this morning.... Slug Posted January 29, 2023 Share Posted January 29, 2023 OK so I started playing this, based on this thread. It's a neat game, but I'm not sure I'm going to continue with it. It's hard to put my finger on but there's something that just doesn't feel satisfying. Wins don't feel good and losses don't feel bad. Like, the meta is too narrow; I see the same 5'ish decks all the time with only rare deviations. And the games have started to feel less strategic and more trump-cardy. There's little room for counter play. When I first started I felt like I saw a lot more variance in decks and strategies. Now I feel like I'm playing the same match over and over. I can't remember the last match I saw something new or cool, even if it didn't work. To be fair, I'm only at like 1k collection level so maybe it opens back up at higher levels when more cards unlock, but it just feels very closed off where I am. tldr; neat game, but meta seems pretty closed which has led to boredom.
