I can't even get started with this, it'd be endless. I grew up with so much 80s cinema, it's obscene.

Yeah, easily my favorite decade for movies.

One that always sticks in my mind as really 80s in all the best ways possible is The Hitcher.

I knew that there were going to be some movies that I forgot to put on my list, and The Hitcher is one of them. Added!

All of them? I mean the 80's was great for movies but it wasn't my favorite decade. Probably third behind the 90's and 70's. I love a lot of movies from the 80's though but I'll keep this list tight.

Lethal Weapon

Robocop

Predator

Rocky Three

The Empire Strikes Back

The Thing

The Goonies

The Lost Boys

Top Gun

Raiders of the Lost Ark

Blood Sport

Above the Law

Pretty much anything from Hong Kong in this decade

Near Dark

Aliens

Beverly Hills Cop

The Karate Kid

48 Hours

The Golden Child

Hollywood Shuffle

Blade Runner

Back to the Future

Akira

there's a TON more I'm forgetting.

Crazy thing is I just saw 48 Hours maybe last year? No idea how I managed that especially because it has Murphy in it and was made by Walter Hill.

You know there's a sequel right? Another 48 Hours.

I'm not really sure I liked it that much actually. I totally get what he was going for with Nick Nolte's character but I think he kind of overstepped the line to just being annoyingly over the top a bit too often for me. Like the near-constant peeling out with that Caddy to drive to every single location for some reason made me wanna punch him lol

He's a lot more likeable in the sequel, but yeah... he was an asshole. That movie was never supposed to be an action comedy. Originally Stallone was supposed to star.

I will say though, I really liked the ending. I liked the kind of mutual understand and semi-respect level they reached and it felt surprisingly endearing.

@Phaseknox

One of the films on your list is from the 90's :p

Really? Which one, I’ll remove it. I originally included a few movies that I thought were from the 80s, but they were from the 70s and 90s so I removed them. I guess one slipped through the cracks.

My two favorite 80s movies? RAD and Thrashin'.

Were you a skater? I was in the 80s and 90s. I watched Thrashin’ a lot.

Oh - you were pointing it out to @Phaseknox

My bad!

Yeah, I originally had Gremlins 2 on my list and @SimpleG let me know that it was a 90s movie and not an 80s one so I removed it.

I'm going to drop an anime here, because it's still one of the best war films of all time.

Grace of the Fireflies

That was late-80s, right? 1988, but didn't come to the US until '93. That should still count. 1988 was a good year for anime. That's also the same year as My Neighbor Totoro and Akira.

Monster Squad.

Another Shane Black classic. No way in hell it gets made today with the same script, but seeing wolfman get blown up, and then his body reassembles? Win.

That movie was PG I think when it should have been an R. Like you said, no way that movie gets made today.
