SaysWho?
Vicarious Visions merged into Blizzard WWW.GAMESINDUSTRY.BIZ Long-time Activision Publishing studio will be "fully dedicated" to Blizzard titles going forward; former studio head Jen Oneal promoted to Blizzard leadership's team Quote Going forward, the Vicarious Visions team of about 200 people will be employees of Blizzard and "fully dedicated to existing Blizzard games and initiatives," which means the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 studio will no longer be creating games as the lead developer. Quote As part of the move, Vicarious Visions studio head Jen Oneal has been promoted to Blizzard executive vice president of development, where she joins the company's leadership team and will report directly to Blizzard president J. Allen Brack. Oneal is being replaced in the Vicarious Visions studio head role by Simon Ebejer, who previously served as chief operating officer for the studio. Vicarious Visions was acquired by Activision in 2005 and has worked on many of the publisher's biggest franchises over the years, including Guitar Hero, Spider-Man, Tony Hawk, Crash Bandicoot, Destiny, Skylanders, and Call of Duty. stepee
So they basically got rid of the studio that makes the fun stuff to play they release?
crispy4000
That's really disappointing. They'll never do anything with Crash or Tony Hawk again, when they just found their groove with both. I could only mildly approve of this if it meant Warcraft 4 or Starcraft 3. At least Toys for Bob is still safe for now.

Commissar SFLUFAN
This is such a prototypical Activision thing to do that it's almost beyond parody at this point.
Chris-
Sucks to lose a fun studio, but I’m not sure why this is otherwise an issue? Other than Warcraft 3 Reforged, what has Blizzard whiffed on as of late? And what about Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 doesn’t look completely awesome? Has there been anything shown about overwatch 2 since its announcement? Diablo could be great but we’ve got a long way to go before we can declare it anything yet. But anyway I think your first phrase in your first sentence is the issue. That’s why people are upset lol. A super talented studio relegated to making forever content for their money farm. This is following the precedent of what happened to Raven which made some truly great FPS games but is now relegated to a CoD support studio. Brian
Blizzard's Team 1 was responsible for StarCraft II, Heroes of the Storm, StarCraft Remastered, and Warcraft 3 Reforged (which was the product of -- surprise! -- unrealistic deadlines created by financial pressures). Its next project was going to be the Diablo 2 remake. — Jason Schreier (@jasonschreier) January 22, 2021 Last year, Blizzard pulled the D2 remake from Team 1 and gave it to Team 3 (the Diablo IV team) which is now overseeing and working with Vicarious Visions on the project— Jason Schreier (@jasonschreier) January 23, 2021

BloodyHell
I knew Morhaim leaving would be the end of Blizzard as we know them. Just hope his new studio does something great.
