b_m_b_m_b_m
I don't like the whole business model that he (and others like glenn greenwald) has where he, personally, takes in tens of thousands of dollars per month for so-so takes while actual, good journalists are getting laid off right and left.

b_m_b_m_b_m
He's going to drive clicks no matter where he goes, but he could have done so at an organization that is about more than just himself and lining his bank account. It's not like he's posting revolutionary or even particularly controversial takes where having corporate benefactors would stifle what he has to say. Signifyin(g)Monkey
I’m fine with a China dove as ambassador, but not one who already has business ties there. Really all that needs to be done with China is to stiffen our enforcement of pre-existing contracts, especially the provisions regarding IP infringement by Chinese companies. They’ve been violating those pretty openly. That and keep our eye out for shenanigans in the South China Sea. We don’t need a trade war and it’s not our job to change the way their government is run. We can coexist, enforce the contracts we agreed to and just let the global market have an honest competition over whose goods are most successful. Most China hawkery is just the result of being too lazy to think outside the old Cold War paradigm and realize China and the Soviet Union are two totally different beasts. Or, you know, actually work with other countries who have a problem with China themselves to coordinate the pressure campaign instead of Trump's idiotic "everything is bilateral" worldview. The Democrats are, in some ways, smarter than Republicans, because they have convinced us they have the moral highground. Granted, the party does fight more for people than Republicans, but they'll only ever allow so much. Hence, the party paid to lose. Look at those who aren't beholden to donors (Bernies, AOC, the squad, Ro Khanna), just their small dollar donations primarily from their actual constituents. They actually fight and argue for protective policies. SHOCKING.
